I'm looking to purchase my own dedicated server. As standard it doesn't
come with any database support. I was considering installing mySQL. At the
moment I have mySQL running on Windows 2000 professional and everything
looks OK at the moment.

MySQL is a native win32 application and runs excellent on Win2k. It's a good
choice.

We have installed about client 80 systems that incorporate MySQL. Some are
running on Unix, some Linux, about a third on Windows NT Server, and the
balance (40+ systems) are running on either Windows 2000 Server or Win2K

I am used to using/accessing MySQL on Unix, but I have to write a small client
application on Windows, to record and log activity to a remote MySQL
database.
The options that I have appear to be

Depends on what you are experienced with on win platform I would of thought.
Something like vB or Delphi is very quick and easy to use.

In my experience, Perl + DBD-mysql will be the most easy tool for UNIXer
(Linuxer). Especially, if you plan to write some non-GUI based system

program.

I have an application that works just fine on a local MySQL database
when it is running on W2K or Windows XP Home. However, on Windows XP
Pro, the application has problems keeping its connection to the server.
Has anyone else seen this and is there a known cause or fix?
