Does anyone have any leads (or is willing to sell) nixie tubes with smooth
tops? I am looking for tubes in the same form as IN-18 but want something
other than an IN-18.
I know about tubes like NL-900, NL-5440A, or B-5441A, but I haven't found
any listings for them in particular, would be open
Does anybody know what symbols these B-54364 tubes show, I cant find any
info online for them at all?
Dangerous game, offering free tubes on a collectors forum, like walking
into an AA meeting with a crate of beer... :-)

A cheaper resource of similar things would be from Fruit Machines - I have
had a few of the (very common in UK) Barcrest Genesis based units which
lurk in the corner of most pubs and take a way shops. They use a central
modular electronic controller with a plug in rom cartridge for the game
This is great, and to us UK folk looks especially nostalgic, mainly thanks
to the fuel price. A US gallon of petrol in the UK would be around $6.50 by
my calculation...
Lovely ride, have fun!

Yeah, all the kit was working before being parted out... It is a 10 pin
connector, as seen in the pic - I have had similar CRT control boards
before too, often just with wires soldered to the PCB edge connector pads.
I guess they must of become fairly standardised towards the end of the CRT
Interesting, eBay has forced me to accept paypal as a method for being paid
for as long as I can remember? I wonder if this is a German eBay feature?
Trying to get top dollar (reserve not met) for a nixie tube and not even
bothering to test it is not really playing the game in my opinion.

I have looked at those a few times but I have never worked out if you can
turn off the underscore lines shown on that video...
Mind you, I salvage displays from loads of scrap kit and have a collection
now that will see me through my lifetime. Have a couple of low use large
planar 400x600
package is that by the way?

Why is there a slot down the base of them? It looks too rough to be
original and shows some chipping on the Bakelite...

Indeed, I found they worked far better with un-smoothed 50Hz rectified
current limited mains from a variac - putting a cap after the rectifier so
they had smooth(er) DC made them unreliable.
Nice to know this also works with square wave pulsed DC.

That is brilliant, I love the more mechatronic approach used on these
machines! Thanks for the link!
