I will look into it. Earthlink has me on a 'list' for information when it
becomes available in my area
For now, it bellsouth or charter pipline (cable). I get the feeling that

Don't think so, but there is a Mandrake-specific newsgroup you might find

it is a lot more specific for someone with my level of experience with

I hope this is an easy/dumb question.
First, doesn LM8 when it's installed need configuration to make CDs
and floppys able to mount? With RH7 I didn't have to do anything but
stick a CD in and I could browse it. There were icons for the CD
drives and floppy drive and I simply had to click

Surprisingly, yes, if you have the 'mtools' suite. 'mlabel', according to
'apropos volume' makes a DOS volume label. (I was skeptical myself this
could be done :).

You can't rename them - if you simply did that you would have a bunch
of mp3 files with an 'ogg' extension, which is something I don't think
you want.
Converting them inside of a shell script would be the approach I'd
take. mpg12

Any suggestions? (other than using Gnu PG)

The mv command will perform that function.
For example, you take a JPEG named test.jpg and you want to name it background.jpg.
The
following command will do the trick for ya.
mv test.jpg background.jpg
It takes the test.jpg and moves it to the destination you specified. This of course

Managed versus unmanaged has little to do with being connected to a

A managed hub provides an admin with fairly advanced reporting,

things).
This in turn differs from a switch (which may also come, managed or
unmanaged).
