perhaps...internal..external,pci..isa maybe ? Just makes sure this is still
not a winmodem.
You can also try going into minicom from a terminal,and querying the modem

Have a Microsoft Tackball Optical, getting error when running mousedrake in Mandrake 8.0 (also got this during install of 8.0). Usb worked fine under 7.2, did clean install of 8.0, not upgrade. This is the error output after running mousedrake:

Does your bios see the hd's. That would be first. Then set your bios to
boot to the cd. Well.I'm assuming(dangerous) you have linux on cd? Keep us

I finally realized the problem with the ramdisk error. If you download
with Netscape ftp it does not download as a binary file. The iso file is
bad. You have to use ftp an ftp program that can download as a binary.
Re-burn the disk with the binary iso file and it will work.

Depending on what software you are using there should be a selection somewhere
to "create a CD from a disk image". Just navigate to the ISO file, select it,
and away you go.
