Resolved it myself. For the record, I just needed that for customers, so I changed the actual MD5 crypt in Kernel/System/CustomerAuth/DB.pm and Kernel/System/CustomerUser/DB.pm (its just one line) from $CryptedPw = unix_md5_crypt( $Pw, $Login ); to $CryptedPw = md5_hex($Pw); (also added, use

I already have the email address set in the system addresses. The issue is probably in our setup but we can't really change it. Basically, we have a distribution group called IT Support and all of our IT people are in that distribution as well as the system address that sends directly to the OTRS
