didn't just go white.
In any case, a very nice shot.

Tom,
It's inviting yet with a hint of foreboding that I find mysteriously
interesting.
Like the crescent horizon and the total volume of the scene.
If I were playing with it in PS, I might give it a click of contrast to
see if the separation of color plains added further interest.
Actually, it
This picture creates a strong desire, in me, to be there. When a
landscape picture does that, I judge it a success.
It gives the impression of being on the roof of the world. The foreground
provides scale and also a strongly three-dimensional feel. Understated,
and very nice.

Hi Ken,
No... the mountain did not show itself the whole time we were there. But as
we learned, summer offers a lower probability of sighting than winter. We

Tom,
Kantishna is a little further west from Camp Denali.
Interesting, the link supplied doesn't even mention Eileson visitor center.

Hello Caveman,
I prefer the first one. Some reasons:
I like the balance of the kayak on the left and mountain on the right.
I like the color differences with the strong blue kayak against the
lake and sky.

Here we just call them idiot yuppies (grin). For 150 years the uniform of the
woodsman was blue jeans, khaki shirt (in summer), plaid wool shirt (rest of
year), hunting boots. Then the bambiests moved into the woods (at one time they
were happy to just look at pictures) and things went to hell.

Better composition: i like the single boat in the left corner. I also
think the single boat gives a more lonely/solitary feel to the picture
which creates a cool mood overall.

I like the scene with just the blue kayak. It livens up the gray day. The
