I forgot to say that I had no lenses on any bodies, only body caps, so all
the bodies were compared in the same condition.
The difference was there with lenses too.

No, that's not completely correct. The FA-2 does not allow the aperture
to be seen, is a bit smaller, has a different shape, and lacks the hot
shoe attachment.

Pick up one of those little hot shoe covers. Most new cameras come with them
they cut down on the chances of catching/hooking a bit but not entirely.

The metal parts and fitments came from a standard Grip B, which now
resides in a drawer - not much
One of my Takumars does this in one of my MX's, (seems that the stopdown
pin and the mirror box wall are at just the right tolerances.

Less than 1/10th the size of a native WAV file and most versions of the MS
Windows Media Player can handle it
The first sound is similar to my original LX, the LX i currently have sounds
quite a bit 'looser' than both of these.

When I got my LX last year I immediately removed the grib-B as an unsightly,
eyesore. I played with the camera for a bit and decided to put the grip on
so I wouldn't lose it. More playing. I now can't live without it! It makes
handling the camera quick and comfortable.

Hmmm. I don't have my camera (ZX-M) handy, but if memory serves, the
aperture on my SMC-A 50/1.4 lens doesn't look like it actually changes unt
So far non of the failures have prevented it from working in regular,
daylight shooting. But I would never take out the LX without a backup body.
The owner of the repair shop solved my dilemma by declining to take the LX
for repairs. He said Pentax won't ship him parts on LX's. "Besides,

the camera has selected for the exposure and I would guess that
there are enough differences between lenses
Five failures in two years is plenty of justification to put the LX in a
display case and leave it there. How will you be able to trust it for
anything important?
