Fred, I just sold mine to a list member recently. The 80-200 is a great lens. Excellent images, extremely well built, and has reasonably good MF feel. Not that I used MF too often. These lenses are well worth the investment if this is what you want. I only sold mine because it is too heavy

I can only find a single reference to this lens, released in 1980, if it's the SL it's their mid level offering. It hasn't made to to cult status so it's probably just an avarage 135mm. That said most 135's were at least acceptable picture makers. The original price for this lens was $160.00

Also forgot to mention I also bought a tokina RMC 400mm F5.6 which is also of excellent++ quality. I think the trend is the early 80's tokina RMC lens lineup is G O O D !!! JCO A french book on macro photography found that the Tokina 200/3.5 was remarquable when used with tubes for close-ups.
