Like many I use multi value tagging to get tracks and albums to display
in my library in more than one place.
Im not bothered with composer, conductor etc but I am definitely
both

What kind of players do you have? This usually is only a topic if you're
running squeezelite somewhere.

by default? I keep turning it off but next time I look it is enabled
again.
It's disabled by default but enabled if you use a buffer size of more
than 10MB.

ok..so we are in a similiar boat.
I do not use the AW all the time to control the music but sometimes it
is quite handy to stop/start the song and/or switch to another player.
But in all "jump" cases, neither I used the watch nor the phone in that
moment when it happened.

I updated to the latest LMS 8.1.1 while my Radio was still playing my
alarm radio station. Normally if I do this then the default alarm sound
is triggered when LMS shuts down but not this time. This is probably the
first time I have done this since updating the firmware so has something
changed?

I don´t recall anymore when those jumps occured (when i bought the AW
back in August 2020 and/or when iOS 14 popped up). But I´m pretty sure
that I haven´t had those issues from the beginning (when I started to
use iPeng back in mid of 2017).
I just saw this thread, and I have the same issues, that sometimes the
player in the kitchen gets louder. This one is often switched on via
iPeng. The one in the bedroom never increased the volume by itself, it
is mainly running 30 minutes in the morning via the LMS Alarm Clock
feature.

Quick update from my side:
After the deinstallation of iPeng I used Material Skin for a couple of
days without any annoying volume jumps.
Nevertheless I reinstalled iPeng to give it another try but faced the
same issue. Hence I deinstalled it again and dropped pippin a PM. Maybe
