Both machines use two VL2330 3.0 volt lithium batteries in series.
For the PB5xx, the cells are side-side; for the 5300, the cells are
Thanks for the detail.
Should have asked the next Q in the first email: can any rechargeable Li
batteries of the same voltage and of similar or smaller size be used? or is
the VL2330.s specifically for the PB.s?

If my powerbook 5300cs green corner light glows continuously because of the
pram battery, is it possible to plug it in for several hours to rechange

the clock and calendar have to be reset. I also know that some Macs will not
boot at all if the PRAM battery is dead or almost dead. My question is: Will a
PB5300cs boot if the PRAM battery is dead or almost dead
), just plugging the unit in
will likely give you a start chime and it will begin
to boot. If not, press the start button and try to
fire it up. It should boot after that. I have found

How hard is it to replace the PRAM battery? In my old
180 it was REALLY a pain.
The local Mac shop wants $35 for the battery alone!! I
might just make one from a couple of watch batteries
if I need to!

Who makes these custom made ones? I hadn't come across these.

For future reference, I've found that calling or emailing the sales

the package being sent USPS. Even those sites that specify lower 48
