if the driver puts info in /proc/?. I use Mylex and that driver puts
info in /proc/rd. It's quite easy to write a script to check the /proc

FreeSWAN is really industrial strength; very flexable, but
seems to have a good bit more overhead and more difficult to set up.
I use CIPE because all I need is simple encriped pipes and I run it on a small

to boot the new system from floppy. Once you're in, configure/rebuild as
necessary.
Note that you cannot just mount the / file system and move the driver
module over. It needs to be

rebuild you're kernel for routing (optimized for routing etc). Makes
a big difference.

You must patch the kernel for VPM-Masq. AFAIK it doesn't come with
RH or any other distro. If you're reading the HOWTO, it should tell
you where to get the patch and how to apply it.

o get a PCI based card as I need the ISA slot for another
board. I don't need anything fancy as the drives are SCSI-2, but not
fast or wide and the machine is just a Pentium 133 use for test
