I'd say the h2o2 did it, but someone else can take that up. I'd just like to take up the bit about the scrubbing pad. Paper towel is quite adequate for cleaning the electrodes, a scrubbing pad of any sort not only is needlessly abrasive but in time will 'roughen' the surface of the silver

Ask your doctor if CS is toxic why is it used to purify the water on ocean going vessels? Betcha she has no knowledge of this use. As she is also clueless that Silver is not a heavy metal and that in fact the term heavy metal is not technical at all. Chemistry has no term such as "heavy" metal.
