I noticed that even after a 'good' scan, every time I remounted the
USB-HD, it always found 1670 new files. This was strangely close to the
number of albums (1614).
I then remembered that when EAC rips each disc it creates an m3u
playlist in each directory (back on fullfatSBS this had doubled-up
I think something is wacky with MySB.com today, I've seen all kinds of
strange things.
Including Touch unable to use any MySB.com features like Apps.
Though I did not get any password error message on my Touch.
But it is all working now on Touch. Maybe try in a little bit.

It's still working today, but the mysqueezebox login fails again with an
unknown password error. I'll live without the apps anyway as I'm
frightened of ejecting the USB or I'll have another mammoth scan to
look forward to.
You say 30k files is a lot but, winamp handles it easily enough on a
PC. I
I gave the internal server with a USB drive a second try.
My first effort ran for 14 or 15 hours without giving progress info or
ever seeming to conclude. While it played music, it was not a
satisfactory effort.
The external USB drive had about 46,000 songs in a variety of formats -

John, thanks for such a comprehensive reply.
I'll drve the My Apps and last.fm scrobbling elsewhere as they are
minor compared to unlistenable music!

a lot of music. I'd im
I removed about 5 GByte of non-music files from the USB (~220G in a 320G

lost mysqueezebox.com password and there appears to be no way of
entering it except after a factory reset. After doing the welcome

Where did you get the 27% memory utilization
There are no hard and fast rules. Its not a number in the software that
after its reached stuff doesn't work. There seems to be a gradual
degradation in performance (initial scan time, remount scan time, GUI
responsiveness etc) as the database gets larger. Exactly where things

Did you try the Factory settings reset? As mentioned, I did that after
playing around and not getting that far with the initial scan. It's
performed flawlessly since.

Hey, you're not alone.I've got a big library of 250 Gbytes, and had
numerous issues getting my new Squeezebox touch to work properly.
My main problem was that when scanning for files, after about 4 hours
of scanning the HDD, some time after starting to scan album art, the
squeezebox stops with a
I've put mine into standby, played lots of tracks and even removed the
USB drive (the wrong way, oops). The Touch has still performed
flawlessly.

I used the factory reset option, restarted it, then setup to scan my USB
HDD. Worked a treat. Scanned the whole lot in 25 mins, then played
everything with zero issues.
Big thumbs up from me.

All I'm getting as a message is that the Squeezecentre server is
scanning my music files. There's no info about the number of tracks to

One other weird thing. I've had a quick listen, and err, well that's
all I'm getting. It'll play around 30 seconds, then repeat back f

which should give you a progress report.
I think it will be slower if you are playing music whilst it scans but
see my post as I think I crashed mine byinstalling an applet (which
always reboots Squeezeplay devices like teh touch) mid-scan.

Got my SB Touch today (my thanks Logitech) and very nice it looks too.
At the moment, I believe it's scanning the attached USB drive (which
will be used as it's music source). I've got roughly 1100 CDs cut onto
the HD and was wondering how I check progress of the scan whilst it's
running?
