It is absolutely not "wimpy" - it delivers the current required. As for
"noisy"... well, most of the "noise" comes from the internal DC switcher
and the VFD.

I have a Touch. I've measured its audio performance against an SB3 with
all manner of supplies (as have others on here).
I have learnt not to trust my "golden ears", especially when I have an
investment to protect/justify.

I did
swap my SMPS for a linear some years ago but have since swapped it back
as the SMPS uses a lot less electricity and I can't hear or measure any
benefit.
With the Touch we are talking about a much lower internal noise floor
(-20dB from memory) to begin with - and I still can't hear

Now, recent Linn, Naim etc recordings that were actually recorded @
24/96 in the first place - they are different.

the Pyramix workstation as you can't edit DSD natively.

Precisely! No idea what the legaility of such mods are... certainly
can't imagine Sony would be happy about them - except that SACD never
really took off as a mass market product, so
