I am just another user (not a guru). YMMV. If you have have used the ' literal marker character to make an entry a string, I think you will have to remove it. If the entries are just numbers, but the cells have been formatted as text then selecting the cells and changing the format should work.

There is a newer format being used in the beta 2.0 (actually called 1.9.x). The 1.1.5 revesion of OpenOffice will understand these formats, but last I checked, it is only almost ready. So you can do what many have done (I've haven't seen complaints of beta issues), download and install the latest
