Do any of you have a copy of Redux? You might want to let the folks at
Lowend know that their old domain name (reduxsw) has been bought out by the
usual pornography crowd. I would like to try the software out, but all the
sites I've tried so far were linked to their old website.

my Mac and have the record words show up in my word processor.The
correct term maybe to transcribe the audio tape voice to the Mac Word
processor.

Now less than 2 years after my first mac there are 36 of them being kept
warm in my flat. Sometimes, a few of them do a little useful work :)
Now, that is what I'm afraid of! I am starting to think of having these all
networked together, with a different version of the OS on each one..

That's kinda what I'm thinking. I might play around a bit with 8.1. I
guess another alternative would be to pick up a larger hard drive, copy
everything over from the IIci and keep the one with 8.1 installed, in case
I want to use it at a later date.

I am at a loss as to what system you are now talking about, but System 7.0
doesn't have a fonts folder; that was new in System 7.1. In System 7.0.1
and
earlier, fonts are stored inside the System suitcase.
The fonts seem to be packed inside of Suitcase 2.0. I had this program set
up on OS
temporarily move the 7.1 system file to a floppy, either boot with
the 7.0.1 disk or copy my old system file back long enough to do this? Or
am I causing an huge mess that will result in nothing working? I'm
considering rolling the upgrade back completely, if there's no other way to
fix it.

I seem to have upgraded from system 7.0.1 to system 7.1 without too many
problems. The only thing, so far, that is not working is the extension to
Suitcase 2.0. Does anyone know if there really is a problem with this
version? If so, am I stuck having to find an upgrade to it?

it to run at 2400 baud under Seyon, but that was it.

not use any modem init strings,
so I could give that a try. Modem is Supra Diamond 33.6 and should use
pretty standard inits. I also tried using a slower speed on the modem, as
that will sometimes do the trick. PPP does not seem to see the modem at all.
Any ideas?

DNS and DHCP are irrelevant if you're not connected to the Internet, or am
I missing something important?
If you don't have DNS, you'd better know the IP address you're trying to
connect to. You need it to resolve the name. I've seen lack of DHCP cause
problems with email, although I can't

disks.
I'm also a bit confused about when to use Mode 32. I am still working my

this is a good upgrade, I'm trying to learn as much about it as I can.
First upgrade will probably be more RAM, as it only has 8MB on board.
