Good evening, I ran the Repair process (Hold Command + Option while starting Photos) and it seems to have halved the start up time. Before the Repair, start up time was 25.00 seconds. After the Repair operation, Photos now takes 12 seconds to open up ready for use. I'm happy with that but others may

Yes, it was my suspicion that it was the library size that results in the slower opening time. My library is over 250GB (37,000+ photos and 1300+ videos). I'm sure there are others out there with same or larger I will do the Command+Option operation this eve and report findings. Will do a before an

Hi Ronni, yes it has, dare I say too, been a stuff up! :)  Please finish your more urgent work before responding to my woes. I am aware that I am creating a new iPhoto Library but I am doing this with cognisance that I am working in a completely separate place (with copies only) of the library fil

Thanks Ronni. I think I've cracked it.  I opened iPhoto with Option held and selected "Create New". I set a new location for the new database library file. Once that was set up, I then selected Import and pointed to the "transitioning" iPhoto Library that I've been unable to open up in the conventi

Hi Ronni, yes I feel a real goose for the steps I took (in hindsight).  As I work away (and am away from home for a further 2 odd weeks), I placed a copy of both (iPhoto and Photos) library files onto my 2TB external drive and using my Retina MBP to try and unpick this mess remotely from my Wifes M

Ok, thanks for that Ronni. Yes I feel too that I have a disproportionate number of issues and likely to be caused by me.
