I acknowledge the committee is elected to make decisions but cannot see how the proposed name change is going to attract new members. Compared to most members, I am relatively new to the Mac world (a mere six years) but am still sad to see "Mac" no longer in the proposed name change.

I have some reservations about the proposed name change. Efficient marketing can sell any name, and history IS important. Aside from the necessity of carefully considering of the points raised by Ronni, Merv and others, and assuming WAMUG must be replaced, I think Shayne's suggestion

that people are putting in a great deal of time and effort in an attempt to address the attendance problem but I feel that many valid points about the name change have not been addressed. Not to say that these points have been overlooked but perhaps by taking the time to try and write a reply to
