Hi Philippe
If the file is definitely under 10GB, and the USB drive is 32GB, then yes, it

But it sounds like, even though the USB drive is 32GB, it’s got files on it

Can I plug in two different computers to the hub to access a printer? or must

I have been looking on the net at cables, converters and hubs that boast
connections between USB and firewire. My search is based on wishing to
connect an external HD with USB3
Hi Merv
As others have mentioned there is no way to convert from USB to Firewire I'm
afraid. Different standards etc.
So a USB3 drive will only run at USB2 speed on a Mac (well most of them).
Kind regards
Daniel

Hi Merv and Peter,
I would be wary of those connectors. Notice they are all on resale sites, none
are manufacturer sales. They could be fakes.
As I said earlier, I don't believe it is possible to convert USB to Firewire
with just a simple pin-to-pin cable. USB used the PC as the bus master
to Firewire
speeds, so I think you'd still be gaining USB2 speeds anyway. So no real
improvement.
I could be wrong here, but I also had the impression there were differing data
versus power consumptions through both a USB and Firewire cable. (ie one pulls
through or expects more power and data
The power issue is the one I would be the most cautious with, USB is 5 v or
less, but firewire can be up to 40 V ( different ampages as well and I would be
very worried as the pins for power would be different as well)

Hi Chris,
That is correct, the mouse requires more power than the Printer SanDisk.
I’m not sure which MBP you have, you would need to supply more details, 15” or
17” the Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,2 or what?
But you can look in System Profiler under Hardware - USB
To find System Profiler
Hi Ronni
It is as you say, MacBookPro8,2 15 i7 4 Core 2.2Ghz.
The Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse v 2.0 is listed under the first USB
High-Speed Bus/Hub, followed by a few other things.
IR Receiver is listed under the second USB High-Speed Bus/Hub
Best regards

Maybe, it's not something too technical?
Over the last two weeks, I've had a USB cord and a power cord stop working for
no reason at all and when replaced, they both work fine.
The power cord one gave me a fright, lol.

Good morning Muggers
I have just realised that one of my USB ports is now not working with my MS
Mouse!! Just stopped working!? I have also checked the port with two other
devices:
1. an Epson CX7300 inkjet, and it worked as per usual.
2. a SanDisk multi card reader with CF card;
and both
just somethingusb ports have a power control which can be limited to 100ma
@5v, if your mouse takes more then the the port shuts down, but works with
anything else that run on lower or no usb power
