I don't know myself but he's been at it since 1992 & apparently his
professional range sells well to studios. His studio design prototypes
were used to record artists including Bowie, Lou Reed & Maria Carey, so
I suspect that at least he's not inept.

Not having been there, I can't say exactly how he conducted his
iterative design methodology, but I think that he should at least get a
Gold Blue Peter Badge (UK kiddy TV show) for bothering to try doing it
that way. He would have had access to the necessary kit & source
material to eliminate personal bias by ABX against "The Real Thing" if
he chose, that's all I'm saying.

If nothing else, I've got a neat balanced headphone amp/MM-MC preamp
combo in one sexy little box, with a display capable of impressing my
occasional guests that I can turn off when I'm on my own.

Your throw-away gag reminded me of the joke about UK school staffing
problems "A year ago I couldn't even spell teacher, & now I are one".
