This may well be theoretically correct, but I suspect that a yeast even from the heaviest barley wine can be reused, and will still contain many more cells that anything you could make in a normal starter. Maybe there can be a few more mutations in the yeast, so you might not want to reuse the yeast quite so many times, but one or two times should go all right.
