I don't think Marko is saying that the IPexpert product isn't enough to pass. More what he's saying is that you cannot just take any product and blindly work your way through it and expect to pass. It takes a lot more in depth studying to really get to know the protocols and fully understand exactly how they really work, and be able to determine how they will behave in situations you haven't seen before. You have to go further than the labs and the videos and actually know the topics.
You have to be the router. And I think that's partly where Ive gone wrong. I can configure almost anything on the blueprint that you put in front of me. With the exception of some of the more advanced PfR I'm very comfortable with the topics there. However, there was a thread on here the other day about intra VLAN multicast that I spoke up on, and was promptly smacked down. It was a scenario where if I had really understood IGMP Snooping and how ti worked on a switch it would have been painfully clear what exactly was happening. After reading through the doc the "the teacher" provided it in hindsight seemed obvious that this would be the behavior of the switch. It's those kinds of little nuances that you must be able to anticipate. You can only teach so much, and the IPepert material does a good a job as any product out there. But at the end of the day it's up to you and I to take the learning to the next level and make ourselves the Expert worthy of passing the exam.
