When I mix PVST+ and MSTP The PVST+ domain have to either host root switches for any vlan's or none. Cisco don't support hosting PVST+ of any of the root bridges, therefore all root bridges have to belong to MSTP domain. The MSTP edge ports will emulate PVST+ packets based to instance configuration. Furthemore I am thinking and the priority values for any vlans override STP priority for any PVST+ vlans configured That just my thought.
