Indeed.  For those interested I would recommend the book "Good
Calories, Bad Calories" which goes into a lot of detail about how and
why the current mainstream thinking on this topic got started, and
what you can do with your diet to be healthier.  There is also a
documentary called "Fat Head" which covers a lot of this as well.
About a year ago I declared war on sugar in my own diet, started
walking an hour a day, and lost nearly 30 pounds in about four months.
 The holidays ramped up and I haven't been as strict with myself since
then, but I'm about to declare "Sugar War II" and am aiming to lose
another 15-20 to get to my target weight.  I am glad to see a medical
professional writing about this now.
