All this discussion on crossing the Rockies. If the weather at
this time of year is doubtful and the route uncertain or possibly
dangerous, why not spend a couple of hours to pull the wings off, rent
a flat deck truck or trailer, and just tow it home. It will be a lot
warmer in a car than at 11,000 ft. with nothing but rocks and snow down
below. Also you get to talk coupe everywhere you stop! Some times the
quick,heroic way of getting there is not always the best. Remember these
planes will NOT continue to fly for very long if you lose a cylinder
enroute. If the weather is too bad to drive, you sure don't want to
flying in it. I'm not trying to sound discouraging but life is very
