Rick: The previous advice about following I-80 is very good. I would add that by looking at the forecast weather, they can pick good VFR weather following the passage of a cold front that will have great tail winds. I just returned from South Dakota, 8D8, to 52FL, today in my 1965 BE 35. At 9,000 feet, we had an average of 50 knot tail winds, so we covered over 1400 statute miles in 6 hours! Your dad and friend can make it back to SC in two easy days.
