I agree that using quirks mode is the way to go for the time
being. I use the following doctype, and I run into surprisingly few
cross-browser, cross-platform or backwards compatibility issues:

is that trying to use standards
mode (as opposed to quirks mode), brings out the bugs and odd behavior in
older browsers. This leads to more development time and ugly hacks like the
ones you mentioned. Of course, I may have misunderstood Micha. :)

If your files are in various sub-directories, then it's probably just as
easy to hard code a global variable that stores the relative portion of the

has any direct relevance? We have developed and/or currently host
several ASP style applications, some of which use the cfimport tag. The
static nature of the cfimport tag definitely affects the overall site
structure a bit, but I don't see how it precludes an entire class of
application
en specified (thisTag.hasEndTag); and 4) the ability to control the naming
of your tags (cfimport prefix attribute) and, by extension, their color
coding and such in your editor of choice.

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to determine the request timeout of the currently
executing page. As a point of reference, the following code returns the
request timeout configured in the ColdFusion administrator (30) rather than
the request timeout set in the cfsetting tag (100):
ServersAlive. The interface needs a bit of help, but it works and it's
cheap.
