Re: Atrium Upgrade to SP4

2013-05-06 Thread Joel Sender
You could try an OS file system LINK from the bad address to the new.

Create
/appl/BMC/AtriumCore/aie/service/datadata/NewTCNZ_ComputerSystem

In it put a link (disk mapping?) to
/appl/BMC/AtriumCore/aie/service/data/NewTCNZ_ComputerSystem

Also add a file with a text explanation as why the link exists (i.e.
README.txt)

Subject: Atrium Upgrade to SP4

Completed an upgrade of Atrium to SP4 last week and have gone to verify the
aitrium integration engine and have noticed that post upgrade the file name
path in all our mappings for any of our data exchanges has changed.

For example pre upgrade the path to where the data file was located was
specified in the mapping as:

/appl/BMC/AtriumCore/aie/service/data/NewTCNZ_ComputerSystem

Post upgrade the path specified is now:

/appl/BMC/AtriumCore/aie/service/datadata/NewTCNZ_ComputerSystem

It's changed everything to look up everything in a folder called datadata which
doesn't exist. I'm now stumped as to how to correct this.

I can export everything out of one of our NPE environments and place over the
top. I can export everything to an .arx file and manually amend the entries
and then import them back in.

IS there any better way of correcting the file name path in a mapping?

Anyone know why this happened?

Chrome 8.1 Incident

2013-05-06 Thread David Boylan
Greetings,

I know that Chrome is not supported but it is still heavily used and
works/worked fine. We've just upgraded to 8.1 and noticed that the
Customer/Summary/Notes area for an individual Incident no longer displays.
Change Management still works fine.

Incident displayed in 7.6.04. Anyone know the reason? Any work arounds?

Dave

SOLVED: RE: Incident Console column - no data

2013-05-06 Thread Brittain, Mark
Makes sense once you know the answer. On the table in the Incident Console is
the CFG:WatchList form and depending on your Show selection changes the form
reference to HPD:Help Desk. In order to add a HPD:Help Desk field to the
Incident Console, the field must be added to the CFG:WatchList using the same
field ID as the field on the HPD:Help Desk.

Hi Mark,

I have just performed the same steps you have (granted I am working on an 8.1
version of ITSM) without any issues.

What was the field you added? Did it have a Zero length or a length greater
than 255? (if this was the case you would not have seen the value at all)

A few things to check:

1. Ensure all of the added fields have proper permissions (Help Desk
field, Join field, and column field)

2. Clear local and mid-tier caches

3. Test with new datacreate a new incident with the new field data
added

4. Press the refresh button on the Incident console if it was already
open (and showing the blank column)

5. Make sure the Incident records you updated data with are the ones you
are looking for in the tableIE: It is an incident in one of your groups

6. If all previous has failedAscertain the table fields EXTERNAL QUAL
for both external fields involved and ensure the qualification makes sense for
the non-watch list version and the watch list version of the table refresh.

Hope this helps

Regards,
Ryan.

Hi All,

I want to display a new column in the Incident Console

Added the field to the Incident (HPD:Help Desk) and then added some data.

Added the field to the HPD:CFG_IncidentWatchList join form, then searched on
the join form to verify the data is on the form.

Added the field column to the z2TH Incidents table, and then refreshed the
mid-tier.

When I open the Incident Console the new column is there but no data is
displayed. However if I select Show Watch List, the data does appear. What am
I missing? Is there another join form I need to update?

Peregrine bought the company, I guess they don't exist anymore so I can't be
sued, to destroy it. It was competition they wanted eliminated, IMHO based
on their actions and the words at the Peregrine Synergy conference I
attended in 2002.

Whilst this current buyout looks less sinister in those terms, we of course
need to wait to see how it all plays out. There is some talk that it will
split off the mainframe from the rest, but I haven't heard any rumours about
what they want to do with both pieces. I think the Remedy brand and the ITSM
product are too valuable for anyone to want to eliminate them, other than
Service-Now, and I don't think they have the financial resources to buy it.

earlier today that the company has signed a definitive agreement to be
acquired by a private investor group led by Bain Capital and Golden Gate
Capital together with GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd (“GICSI”) and Insight
Venture Partners. The transaction will take the Company private.

We believe this important step will position us for even greater success and

Re: huh? financial news for bmc ?

2013-05-06 Thread Stanley Feinstein
As I remember it, Peregrine bought Remedy for the cash. They had cooked the
books for just about the same amount of cash that Remedy had in the bank.
I remember the discussions about why they bought it, this or that, but when
the numbers came out, cash was the reason. Follow the cash seems to be a
good rule to follow these days.

We are seeing this consistently for users in a different timezone from the

 Dear BMC Customer,

ARERR 9093 - User is currently connected from another machine

2013-05-06 Thread Hutcheson, Heather
For the past few weeks we have been receiving an increasing amount of ARERR
9093, User is currently connected from another machine, messages in our
organization. After gathering some information and running some tests, we have
identified there is not consistency with the action of the users and these
errors. They are using a variety of browsers including IE, Firefox and Chrome.
This is mainly occurring to our support staff but is happening to our end users
as well, the error is occurring with fixed, floating and read licenses. We are
using 7.6.04 SP4 and increased our Apache Tomcat memory on both mid tier
servers hoping it would help resolve the problem. Has anyone else experienced
this problem? Any guidance is much appreciated.

Re: ARERR 9093 - User is currently connected from another machine

2013-05-06 Thread Tauf Chowdhury
Heather,
From your messages, it looks like you have 2 mid tiers. Do you have a load
balancer sitting in between the users and the mid tier? If so, you need to
configure a sticky cookie or session affinity for those users. You don't
need to do this if you are load balancing your AR app servers in between
mid tiers but you DO need it for the users to the web server.

This often happens to all the overlay forms(on which any custom field is
added) after Upgrade.
We do need to reconcile these forms by following way:
1. Create a copy of the current view by Duplicate view (Standard default)
2. Delete view overlay of the distorted view (After this you must see
Original view of the form)
3. Save the form, Go to the Duplicate view we created in step 1.
4. Create the view overlay of the original view.
5. Add all the custom fields from duplicate view onto the original view and
then save.

We are on ARS 8.0 with midtier 8.0. Seems like the issue is not browser
 dependent.
We are seeing this consistently for users in a different timezone from
 the ARSServer Timezone.
Our ARS is in PST and users complaining are from CST and EST.
Also seems like this is happening only to the last day and last min of
 every month.
 For Ex:
 5/31/2013 10:00PM will display as 6/0/2013 10:00PM
 6/30/2013 10:00PM will display as 7/0/2013 10:00PM

Where as 5/31/2013 9:59PM will display as normal.
This is even before we save the record, just when we select the data/time
 on the screen.

Heather,
From your messages, it looks like you have 2 mid tiers. Do you have a load
balancer sitting in between the users and the mid tier? If so, you need to
configure a sticky cookie or session affinity for those users. You don't need
to do this if you are load balancing your AR app servers in between mid tiers
but you DO need it for the users to the web server.

Our ARS is in PST and users complaining are from CST and EST.
Also seems like this is happening only to the last day and last min of

 6/30/2013 10:00PM will display as 7/0/2013 10:00PM

Where as 5/31/2013 9:59PM will display as normal.
This is even before we save the record, just when we select the

Not likelyyou will likely need to drill into why the Mid-Tier load

session timeout on the Mid-Tier JSP engine?

 Dear BMC Customer,

I am excited to inform you of a very positive development for BMC
 Software.

 BMC Software
 announcedhttp://app.go.bmc.com/e/er?s=1545lid=4458elq=56354adb90354a77ba09b4fc9b8d45a7earlier
today that the company has signed a definitive agreement to be
acquired by a private investor group led by Bain Capital and Golden Gate
Capital together with GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd (“GICSI”) and Insight
Venture Partners. The transaction will take the Company private.

We believe this important step will position us for even greater success
and accelerate our ability to focus on building an even stronger future for
 our customers.

As a result of this transaction, BMC expects to have increased flexibility
to invest more strategically to drive powerful innovation and deliver
cutting edge customer solutions. Importantly, this transaction provides BMC
with the potential to accelerate our customer-focused vision for our
company. We are confident that this transaction will allow us to better
 serve you.

We expect the transaction to be completed later this year. Throughout the
process, and after the close, the transaction’s impact should be seamless
to you. It will have no impact on the day-to-day operations of our
business. Your BMC contacts remain the same, all current contracts will be
honored and there will be no change in how we conduct our business with
 you.

As we move through this process, we will keep you informed of key
developments. If you have any questions, please feel free to call your
 usual BMC representative.

We look forward to building upon our relationship with you and to
continuing to develop the best solutions to address the IT needs within
 your organization.

Whilst this current buyout looks less sinister in those terms, we of
course need to wait to see how it all plays out. There is some talk that it
will split off the mainframe from the rest, but I haven’t heard any rumours
about what they want to do with both pieces. I think the Remedy brand and
the ITSM product are too valuable for anyone to want to eliminate them,
other than Service-Now, and I don’t think they have the financial resources
 to buy it.

Time will tell. It is encouraging at the moment. I think many of us have
experienced the financial machine placing itself between customers and
products, the customer and product design, the customer and licensing.
Let's not kid ourselves, there is still money involved. These companies
don't invest unless they think they can make money but it seems this is a
necessary step if BMC is going to survive.

Hi John,

This sounds like the standard cockroach letter that the Pullman Company

cockroaches in their train car. Of course, it said that they've never heard
this complaint before. At least, that's what I read.

Re: Remedy Date/Time display issue

2013-05-06 Thread Bira Mata
This issue has appeared before in earlier version 7.5 7.6.04, and in both
versions BMC has released a patch to fix it. the most incredible is that
they keep reproducing same errors on new versions. I guess you have to wait
for a fix patch in both midtier and appl server

That is truly bizarre...I would love to hear the solution to it when you

Seems like something not patched yet.
When I saved the record, in the database it is stored correctly in the
epoch format and the workflow is triggering as normal. Seems like a glitch
 at display level only.

That is hilarious...no, I have NEVER seen this before, but I highly
recommend upgrading to Patch 3 of 8.0 for all components...it may be fixed
 in one of the patches.

I have a ticket with BMC but thought checking with the arslist as well.
Has any one seen this kind of Date/Time display issue before?
We are on ARS 8.0 with midtier 8.0. Seems like the issue is not browser
 dependent.
We are seeing this consistently for users in a different timezone from
 the ARSServer Timezone.
Our ARS is in PST and users complaining are from CST and EST.
Also seems like this is happening only to the last day and last min of
 every month.
 For Ex:
 5/31/2013 10:00PM will display as 6/0/2013 10:00PM
 6/30/2013 10:00PM will display as 7/0/2013 10:00PM

Where as 5/31/2013 9:59PM will display as normal.
This is even before we save the record, just when we select the
 data/time on the screen.

ITSM OOB Web Service (HPD_IncidentInterface_Create_WS) - ARERR 9337

2013-05-06 Thread Prakash Kodali
Helloo,

I am using ITSM OOB Web Services (HPD_IncidentInterface_Create_WS) from a
customized workflow application to create automatic tickets.
When I try to see the WSDL file
(http://midtier_server/arsys/WSDL/public/servername/HPD_IncidentInterface_Create_WS)
 on
production server, it is throwing ARERR 9337 error. This was working from a
long time and stopped responding today after rebooting the server. I can
able to see the WSDL file on my DEV server. Attached is the error message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Prakash.

Re: BMC MyIT

2013-05-06 Thread Mike Conroy
All,

thanks for the document pointers, all installed and running well except for...

Service Requests - I created a very bland Service Request that I wanted to be
the Default Service Request but it won't display there unless I check Show
unsupported requests so my question is what makes a Service Request
unsupported?

I've gone through the online help and it doesn't even mention unsupported
requests so no joy there.

Also, if anybody knows what the Content Locker and Marketplace icons are
for on the iPad, I'd really like to know.

Thanks,

Mike

Yes there another reason, if a person is logged into one machine and
goes to another and logs in again you receive that message

Not likelyyou will likely need to drill into why the Mid-Tier load
balancer is moving your sessions around. Does your sticky timeout =
your session timeout on the Mid-Tier JSP engine?

Heather,

From your messages, it looks like you have 2 mid tiers. Do you have a
load balancer sitting in between the users and the mid tier? If so, you
need to configure a sticky cookie or session affinity for those users.
You don't need to do this if you are load balancing your AR app servers
in between mid tiers but you DO need it for the users to the web server.

For the past few weeks we have been receiving an increasing amount of
ARERR 9093, User is currently connected from another machine, messages
in our organization. After gathering some information and running some
tests, we have identified there is not consistency with the action of
the users and these errors. They are using a variety of browsers
including IE, Firefox and Chrome. This is mainly occurring to our
support staff but is happening to our end users as well, the error is
occurring with fixed, floating and read licenses. We are using 7.6.04
SP4 and increased our Apache Tomcat memory on both mid tier servers
hoping it would help resolve the problem. Has anyone else experienced
this problem? Any guidance is much appreciated.
