Most of the time people recommend you just turn UAC completely off in the system settings or wherever it lives - it causes a lot of problems for a lot of different programs. The upside to these types of drives is faster access to data found on the drive; however, the drive does indeed have a life cycle which inevitably will end with no warning of its (for lack of better words) death.I bring this up because you could save money now and purchase a hybrid or even just an HDD. If you aren't set on faster speeds of data retrieval, then I highly suggest you save your wallet and buy an HDD. Re: Kindly request to be unbanned from dmnb please? I've already stated again and again that this choice was not made lightly. I did not simpply one day say ok yeah, done, its down. Its a choice that i've actually been considering for 2 months before dmnb even shut down and whent to v2, and v2 was my attempt to try to make myself happyer with the concept. Their are several reasons why I discontinued the concept, some are obvious, while others i'd rather keep to myself. If I considered online games as a toy, I wouldn't have ritten v2 to try to not only make the server experience more stable, but I also wouldn't have resseled for 4 or 5 months with v1 trying to get the server under control after my attempt to fix lag. I'm sorry. But in this case, while I do respect my players, and do understand that people enjoyed dmnb, and while this may sound selfish, i've already made my choice. I can't turn back now and reclaim it, nore do I want too. I'm willing to go forward however and at somepoint, try the online concept again. But in order to do that? I do need you guys to understand that dmnb is gone and its not coming back. At least, not in that form. I'm not forbidding anyone to host their own servers, that is precycely why I released the client and server for a while to see weather I could open the game up to further development, but I am asking for a little space and respect, and that means not repeatedly asking why I dropt dmnb or asking me to bring it back. When i'm ready to try all of this again, I will do so. In terms of the sounds them selves, I give them 2.5 out of 5 stars, with 5 out of 5 being the newest libraries from the big names like Hollywood Edge, Blastwave FX, and Sound-ideas.I like the variety and uniqueness of these sounds, especially the battery fans and the linking room, and can see using them in a project pretty easily; plus, the stereo spread was nice too.That said, however, the recorder handl ing and occasional mic dropouts lessen the percentage of usable sound, and that means shorter, more noticeable loops.You also have to take into consideration that there are easily discernible voices in the backgrounds of some of these ambiance, and that can be a blessing or a curse depending on the use of the sound and the preference of the person using them.Even though these sounds could use cleanup and probably aren't readily usable in their current forms, I still appreciate having the original files to do with as I wish, and overall, I would say that the modern sound effects section of this library is certainly worth considering for room ambiance in a game or audio production, even if some work is needed to bring them to their full potential.And even though these sounds are quite specific as listed, it doesn't mean that you can't repurpose them into any number of things, from military super computers, to spaceship engine rooms and navy carg o decks, or city power plant generators, high tech government command centers and secretive private research labs.Even though the selection is small, the nature of the tracks makes them widely adaptable and, definitely worth having! In terms of the sounds them selves, I think I would give them 2.5 out of 5 stars, with 5 out of 5 being the newest libraries from the big names like Hollywood Edge, Blastwave FX, and Sound-ideas.I like the variety and uniqueness of these sounds, especially the battery fans and the linking room, and can see using them in a project pretty easily; plus, the stereo spread was nice too.That said, however , the recorder handling and occasional mic dropouts lessen the percentage of usable sound, and that means shorter, more noticeable loops.You also have to take into consideration that there are easily discernible voices in the backgrounds of some of these ambiance, and that can be a blessing or a curse depending on the use of the sound and the preference of the person using them.Even though these sounds could use cleanup and probably aren't readily usable in their current forms, I still appreciate having the original files to do with as I wish, and overall, I would say that the modern sound effects section of this library is certainly worth considering for room ambiance in a game or audio production, even if some work is needed to bring them to their full potential.And even though these sounds are quite specific as listed, it doesn't mean that you can't repurpose them into any number of things, from military super computers, to spaceship engine rooms and navy cargo decks, or city power plant generators, high tech government command centers and secretive private research labs.Even though the selection is small, the nature of the tracks makes them widely adaptable and, definitely worth having! And it's 11:30 eastern time. And yes, they are stressed, angry, sad/upset, or maybe all 4 and then some by the verry end of the day. But that isn't the only reason why they feel like that. Who knows what else is causing those bad emotions. But I liked your analogy of losing a loved one. Making the indevidual feel even worse at that point isn't the proper/good thing to do. That verry same analogy can be used for this situation as well. However, I can see where players who have purchased the online version would become alittle upset/frustrated. I'll admit, when I read that the game was discontinued, I did feel just that, frustrated and alittle upset some. but I read further and found out that Mason had stepped back and chilled some, then came to the decision that he was going to keep the project going, which was a good decision on his behalf. At steve, I agree 100 percent with your post, awesome input as well.However, I do have to agree with the post about making it free, but for the moment. Yes, I would make this project free to play if you do intend to keep online gameplay running at the current time if possible, but the n in the future once you know that things truly are going in a right solid good direction, you can make it payed if you wish, and only if you know for sure that this will stay around.Like stated in my previous post. I wanted to get your take on a specific game type that isn't out there right now but one that I'm sure lots of you would love to see including me. I am fixing that up.Because of the public location of this, and other reasons such as my fixation, I am not going to yell at ivan. I half agree with him, half don't. Others do too. Here's the thing, from someone who suffers stress like mason does.I am a depressed, occasionally suicidal, jerk, and I will not deny it in any way. But one thing to never do to someone who's having a bad day, is make it worse. How would you feel if, say, your mother died, and while you were in pain from that, somebody came and killed your father, assuming you had both. THat would be twice the pain. ANd yeling at someone after they're in pain, while not as harsh, is definitely not the way to make it better. The post from rob was a great one to demonstrate what you can do instead. ANd others here, that weren't encouragement, were put in such a way that they w ere simply a statement and giving you a choice, instead of putting you under pressure to do something and then saying do it or you'll die, kind of thing. I did step out of the development of my own games because of what has happened to me with streets of chaos, and now I stick to my own personal tools and occasionally an include or a funny little program, usually open source, suh as toney. I may reenter some day, but the point of that section is, mason, if development of things is stressful for you, step away from it. If you're going to fix as many bugs as you can and rerelease it, here's some suggestions. If you keep online, allow it to be free so anyone can play, instead of limiting it to those people who still have keys. You can call it a sort of "final" version, for now, and leave it on a good note instead of teatering on the brink of hell with a bunch of angry customers on your back. I never agreed with it being payed myself, but for the price, and what you could do, I was okay with it. Just like I was okay with the bk3 translation dictionary, it made the game something truly worth buying, and I bought it. I would have bought sbp too had you not said "no". But I know why you said no, because I leaked a crucial piece to your registration system to someone you hated. I never used it myself, they did and you blamed it on me, and when I told you the truth, you said this.afgredlyjkfowirp or something of the sort. But that is beside the point, I need to stop getting off topic here. SBP is a good game, beside the friggin lag it produces. The AI could be better, but it could also be much worse. THe playing experience is of the same quality as the previous sb's, plus an online mode! I honestly think if you ever, ever, think you are going to think otherwise about a project you're gonna charge for, don't charge for it, so you're not messing up with people's money. Refunds was a brilliant idea. The gam e, as I see, was supposed to squash ultrapower into the dust. I do also wonder why it had such a short lifespan, but I know exactly why you were stressed. Because of your enemy hacking the game. NO further disclosure of how he hacked will be provided, as him and I don't communicate and I don't have anymore to give, as well as the fact that we don't need another flame war. Does anybody remember streets of chaos and what happened to it? I was betrayed by my fellow developer, who handed over the game to tupy, someone I absolutely hated. And I did the same thing, shame on me. I have felt stress. I know what is' like. And one thing people should never do is overlook emotions. One thing I've noticed about the majority of this blind community, is that they down those of us with emotions and call us stupid, or give us bad reputations because we aren't oblivious to emotions like them. AN example of an emotion hater would be blinky. But there are also good people , who understand, even if not completely, such as rob and many others. Emotions, are a bitch. NO way around it. And when people turn your hard work into a drama loaded piece of shit, or a hack target, it's not fun for you, and it's not fun for the players. My definition of "game" is as follows.A game is a form of entertainment, and sometimes used as a way to kill time. It is antibordum medicine.A game should not be a drama pit, a stress source, or anything that doesn't result in entertainment by all. Notice the term "happiness" was not used, because games aren't always happy. There's those times you get really mad at a game because you died, or lost, etc. But you should not get mad at a game because of the person developing, nor should you try to ruin the life of the developer via exploits and other things. Re: crashlib my new sound library Yeah its a bit small for an actual library.The getto sfx are lower quality because they were made with a lower grade recorder.The modern stuff was made on location with a newer unit though by today's standards is still old.The modern stuff was made on location the other stuff well was also made on location but the quality and stuff sadly was not the best.The modem was a direct cut from an actual modem.I really don't come accross to record ambiences or anything spaciffic, fact is you can almost get most things.The modern sfx stuff started out because every youtube video of a transmitter tour had bad quality or just didn't work for me.For the battery room it was a room with ups racks and fans.The general transmittion room was a room with a couple transmittion units.The linking room had computers and such in it.The big scary recordings of transmitters had me first in front of the fan filters and the second amo ngst the transmittion racks.Sadly the station has got smaller than it used to be, as a lot of the radio stuff is somewhere else I can't get access to, and before there was a monitering centre with computers and a control room which I never recorded.There were also a few more rooms with stuff in them I never recorded at all.Now without the noisy analog tv units things are mostly fans now.However one of the things I did do when I was first there was being allowed to fiddle with an inactive black and white transmitter control board that was going to a museum.I never thought to get recordings of it and in fact back then 1996 I think it was, I didn't even have a good recorder unit or the thought I should record things.The modern sfx are best quietened down and combined with other sfx to make real sounds by themselves they are not much. I got it on ps4 and was unable to do the first mission. You could probably do it, but once you need to drive, you wont be able to find anything. And, I am not sure if saves will work because the ps3/4 likes to lock savegames to users because I know on the ps3 saves wouldnt always work. You can get the IP from the settings on the amp, and then it's a basic HTML interface from there. I got through the initial setup using KNFB reader. Re: Usable surround receivers I would be very interested to hear of any fully accessible AV receivers people might find. I have an Onkyo TX-NR616 and a Sony STR-DN1030. The Onkyo will allow you to configure some very limited settings through its web interface. The Onkyo app is useful for some things, but has had some accessibility problems in the past. I have not tried to use the Remote3 app yet because I still need to do a firmware update on my receiver. I don’t use the Sony receiver much because it’s in my basement, but at the time I was using it, the apps were a little more accessible than the Onkyo apps. I think the app for the Sony receiver has since changed, and I have not yet tried it. I need at least a 5.1 receiver that will allow me to use my own speakers, preferably a 7.1 receiver because I prefer to bi-amp my front two speakers. I would love to find a receiver that is 100% accessible for all settings/menus through an app or web interface. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say, this is something I never thought would happen, and it's better than I could've dreamed. The irony is, my lady says the same of me for some reason I've not been able to determine. As to living arrangements, she'd like to live in Britain, but there are various annoying legal shenanigans involved first, still we'll see. I'd be willing to live in America, or north Korea, or the upper reaches of the amazon or the moon! Oh and yes, we have been described as somewhere between beautiful and nauseating. @Nocturnus, I can't actually describe what is between us, but the term "unconditional love" is one I very much now understand. We've not been out in the middle of no where, but have lived togetherfor for several weeks, communicated over long distances for a number of months (through sometimes not easy circumstances), and currently both have colds. The decision to get married was as I said, more an acknolidgement of what we both knew than a proposal of something, indeed the term "soulmate" is one which is pretty accurate. I think it's more of a story mode than chronicles of the sword is.. because it actually tells the plot of the game through the individual characters. chronicles of the Sword has never been considered SC 3's story mode. Story modes don't all have to take a long time... a story mode is theoretically any mode that tells the plot of the game. fighting games just don't often have plots that are good enough or deep enough to follow. soul calibur has the premis for one, but it's never been presented well... not even in Soul Calibur 5 which came the closest. Maybe it is possible Mason didn't have a testing team, or at least one that was active enough, though I do know he had at least 3 people to test with him. As for the stress thing, I've had to go through this before, with S Quad Racing in fact. In fact, if it weren't for certain people pushing me to go on, I might have given up. But do you know what I find helps really well? A re write of the code. I'm not telling you to rewrite your code, but I did that to S Quad Racing last week, and now I'm extremely motivated to fix bugs and add new features. Because believe it or not, when you go at something for the second or third time, if you're trying to code the same systems you've just scratched something you know will not! Work off of your list, and you can then learn how to better ass emble your code. Good luck on your future projects. I respect your decision to discontinue this, I just hope you take mine and other's advice into account on your next projects.
