Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Vol 2 Lab 1 - ISDN Restart Errors

2010-05-06 Thread vccie2010
cause 0x22 - generaly means no channel availableplease checj you have
right number of slots defined in pri-group timeslots statement and double
check your PSTN router for same.

 wrote:

  Hi,

Seeing some errors today that I haven’t encountered before in any other
 lab...wh! :)

I’m working on Vol 2 Lab 1 Question 4.1, and trying to get calls from the
 PSTN working into HQ.

Pretty straightforward stuff, except the calls never seem to get out of the
 PSTN router.

When dialing the HQ phone from the PSTN phone (regardless of line
selected), I get the following debug isdn q931 errors from the PSTN router:

 May 6 23:11:09.243: ISDN Se0/3/0:23 Q931: Applying typeplan for sw-type
 0xD is 0x0 0x0, Calling num 911

 May 6 23:11:09.243: ISDN Se0/3/0:23 **ERROR**: CCPMSG_OutCall: fails with
 cause 0x22

And every 30 seconds, I see the same batch of 4 ISDN Restart messages, like
this (also from the PSTN router):

 May 6 23:12:04.539: ISDN Se0/3/0:23 Q931: TX - RESTART pd = 8 callref =
 0x

 Restart Indicator i = 0x87

 May 6 23:12:05.539: ISDN Se0/3/0:23 Q931: TX - RESTART pd = 8 callref =
 0x

 Restart Indicator i = 0x87

 May 6 23:12:06.539: ISDN Se0/3/0:23 Q931: TX - RESTART pd = 8 callref =
 0x

 Restart Indicator i = 0x87

 May 6 23:12:07.539: ISDN Se0/3/0:23 Q931: TX - RESTART pd = 8 callref =
 0x

 Restart Indicator i = 0x87

Show isdn status on the PSTN router looks normal for this interface:

 ISDN Serial0/3/0:23 interface

 *** Network side configuration ***

 dsl 1, interface ISDN Switchtype = primary-ni

 Layer 1 Status:

 ACTIVE

 Layer 2 Status:

 TEI = 0, Ces = 1, SAPI = 0, State = MULTIPLE_FRAME_ESTABLISHED

 Layer 3 Status:

 0 Active Layer 3 Call(s)

 Active dsl 1 CCBs = 0

 The Free Channel Mask: 0x8000

 Number of L2 Discards = 0, L2 Session ID = 0

Attaching show run and show isdn status as well for the HQ router (the
other end) just for troubleshooting completeness, but there’s no indication
of anything amiss, nor any debug messages at all, on the HQ router. The call
 never gets that far.

I started this morning on Voice Pod 11 and hit this. Ryan was kind enough
to move me over to Voice Pod 16, but I’m hitting the same issue here.

OSL archive and Google search turned up nothing concrete, other than a
general theme of “it sounds like your telco / carrier has issues.” :)

 Any ideas?

 Cheers and TIA, sd

 However

calls to BR2 appear as 16 Kbps in the gatekeeper as per the question

calls from BR2 appear as 128Kbps in the gatekeeper, even when the SSCP
phones at each end show G.729 and no transcoding is in use.

 Any ideas ?

How does the gatekeeper derive this bandwidth, is it taken from a setup
request even if a lower speed codec is then negotiated ?

Check also Phone System under the user configuration. Users might be
applied to the wrong phone system, in this case, voicemail still working but

I have been having MWI issues with CUC. Basically, the MWI light does
not turn on. CCIETalk had the same (or similar) problem. Today, I was
able to reproduce the issue and verify that my fix worked.

Basically, once you activate the AXL service on CUC and start it, it
crashes after 5-10 seconds. This is enough time for you to click away
from the page and start configuring other things. When MWI does not
work in my case, it is because the AXL service on CUC is down and
 cannot
   communicate with CUCM.

The only fix I have found is to reboot the CUC server after activating
the service. Once the server comes back up, MWI works perfectly and the
   service stays up.

Hopefully this helps a few people out there.

Device Pool BR1 is configured to use Local Route Group of rg-br1.

Route group rg-br1 has the proper GW selected (S0/SU0/

BR1 GW is cleanly registered to CUCM, with multiple_frame_established.

Have bounced no mgcp / mgcp on BR1 GW, and have reset the phone and route

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUPS 7X - CUPC functionality questions please

2010-02-01 Thread vccie2010
Will appreciate if someone had done it before or can shed some light on
this-

I need to configure CUPC client / Desk Phone for Voice, Video, IM and email.
My understnading /Qs are :

1. Have AD integration with CUCM 7X
2. Have MS Exchange - where it's to be integrated into CUPC ?
3. For IM what all needs to be done ?
4. For Video I understand I will need VT adavantage camera with phone ?

Or any thing else I am missing here basically I am looking for an overview
of integrations of above items to make voice, video, IM and email work from
CUPC.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] MOH from Flash

2010-01-26 Thread vccie2010
HI Otto,

So in which scenario I will be using 239.1.1.3:16384 on SiteB router please
?

Thanks // AK

 Hi,

The branch router will always multicast moh in g.711 format from the flash.
So, branch phones should be configured to hear the 239.1.1.1 port 16384 and
not 239.1.1.3:16384 and codec g.729 (this is a not supported
configuration) when they are put on hold.

How do you guarantee your branch phones will tune 239.1.1.1:16384 in
g.711 format and still be able to communicate with other sites using g.729?.
Well that's when the g.711 region/DP show up, configure a region such as the
codec relationship with any other region is g.711, assign this region to a
new DP and then assign that DP to the MOH server configured for the siteB DP
 MRGL-MRG,

I still trying to find a reason why you will need to stream g.729 from the
router flash in this scenario, you might want to do that if the moh
streaming is coming from the hq site,

There's a very good document about this feature, I reference it just in
case you haven't take a look at it,

 Hi,

The only format supported by the moh file is g.711, you should also take
care of the multicast ip address numbering to make it match to a g.711 moh
 streaming not g.729,

As far as I know you need to have the file(s) in the correct format in
flash, ie G729 if you want to use that for your MOH or G711U if that's what
you want. Vik please correct me if I'm wrong.

 one
of the main reasons for doing this- we can play g711 music without any
