In the SMTP Server properties, I changed the IP from one of the IP's on the box to all unassigned and it worked. Next question: resulting plaintext emails appear to have carriage returns / line feeds stripped out. Any idea how to get those back? Careful with that, make sure you aren't opening up an open mail relay if you have public IP space on the server. Re: ACF10 mail and Windows Server 2012
No. Interestingly, it appears that some carriage returns / line feeds remain. The ones that got stripped out are ones inside of: cfmail cfloop#loop.output# /cfloop /cfmail ...where that carriage return / line feed between #loop.output# and /cfloop is not coming through and all elements of the loop are output on one line. This worked in my 32 bit environment. Encoding issue? CF9/Windows how to push data to HTML page
I have a radio station site, and I want to be able to update the pages automatically as events happen. For example on the section where it says what's on air now i want it to automatically change as the hour ticks over and the new show startsOr as the live call of the sports ends and we return to music. Does anyone have a way to do that? I have been unsuccessful at using now() as a function in a CFC because the CFC stays in memory and doesnt necessarily update the data it works with. In fact the what's on today doesnt always have today's program listing - it often has yesterday's, even though it's based on now() as a parameter in the cfquery on the database programming table. -- Cheers Mike Kear Windsor, NSW, Australia Adobe Certified Advanced ColdFusion Developer AFP Webworks http://afpwebworks.com ColdFusion 9 Enterprise, PHP, ASP, ASP.NET hosting from AUD$15/month ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:359060 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/unsubscribe.cfm

I am successfully running CF10 on IIS 8.5 and Windows 8.1 for my development machine. Works like a treat, you just have to make sure you run the Web Server Config Tool every time you add a new site, and I had to modify the web.config file to allow error messages to pass through to CF and not be caught by IIS, but nothing that a few minutes of Googling didn't solve. Windows server 2008 or 2012
Hi Folks I am looking at changing VPS providers to maintain and upgrade CF I have an option of Windows 2008 or 2012 server. The reccommendation is 2008 and was wondering what others think. I spent a week a year ago migrating from 2003 to 2008 and would rather not go thru that hassle again in a few years time and so I think starting with 2012 would be a more practical option. One of my ongoing concerns is PCI compliance. any reason not to go with 2012 (cost is the same) Thanks Rob Robert J. Voyle, Psy.D. The main thing about 2008 is compatibility. You know more things are going to be compatible with it because it's been around longer. If you know everything you'll be using is compatible with 2012, then it shouldn't be a problem to make the jump to it. I am looking at changing VPS providers to maintain and upgrade CF I have an option of Windows 2008 or 2012 server. Server 2012 is a solid platform though it takes some getting used to the GUI interface updates. It's grown on me since I started dealing with it. Server 2008 still feels new, but it is now pushing six years old so I wouldn't deploy anything new on it unless I had to. If you're using CF10 with Server 2012 there is a known issue (CF Bug 3488063; see https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bugid=3488063) which impacts custom 404 handlers and anything that relies on the URL Rewrite module, so if your site relies on those features then do some serious testing before deploying live. We are actively working with Adobe engineering (who is working with the Microsoft IIS team) to resolve that one as it's holding us up from upgrading a bunch of CF 8 servers to CF 10 Enterprise, but aside from that everything else should be smooth sailing. -Justin Scott ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:357461 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/unsubscribe.cfm

I would do 2012, as the end-of-life for the OS would be further out, and pushes any kind of required upgrade out to a further date. The learning curve is not beyond an experience with 2008, IMHO. OS version matters little with PCI compliance. If anything 2012 should be more up-to-date and secure (HA, Windows joke contained within). You might try passing delimiter=';' as an additional dsn parameter. Which odbc driver are you using in windows? The MS text file driver you can specify an ini file with the delimiter and other parameters. I finaly found the problem: When you open the ODBC Administrator, you first select the database you want to update, you click on configure, you see the name of your datasource, fine, then you click Options, you still see the name of the datasource you are configuring, then you click Define format, you think you will define the format for the datasource you are working on... CSV ODBC driver under Windows 2008
Hi, since I moved my applications from a 2003 server to Windows 2008, I have a problem reading a database defined on a .CSV file through the ODBC socket driver. The problem seems to be with the ODBC driver. I have the 32 bit version of CF installed an I use the odbcad32.exe 32 bit ODBC administrator. I have the exactly same configuration on my Windows 7 developping desktop and the application works with no problem. The first line of the file contains the list of columns in a format like column1;column2;... It looks like the column names are not recognized under W 2008, just like if commas were expected as delimitor instead of semi-colon. Hi Joy On the machine it is running on, run the following command: Telnet 127.0.0.1 25 And see if it connects. If smtp is running it should go through. That will (to my knowledge) avoid any firewall issues so you are doing a straight test of the open port at that point. Joy, Windows 7 (any addition) **does NOT** include an SMTP server. The SMTP Mail Server icon in IIS Administrator is to point ASP.NET apps to a SMTP server elsewhere on your network (or a third-party SMTP server running on localhost). Re: CF 9 does not connect IIS 7 smtp server on windows 7
this has already been explained to you, but don't seem to be taking much notice of the advice being given. SMTP is not installed by default, you need to install it from the add/remove features. You need IIS6 management console to manage it. I have also asked you 3 times now to confirm if the SMTP service is running. Does Windows 7 include SMTP server?
Does windows 7 include SMTP server? I came across some notes on windows discussion forum that said windows 7 does not include SMTP Mail server. But after the installation of IIS 7.5 from the components and features it does shows SMTP mail server icon on IIS Manager. Microsoft does not have enough documentation about this though. I am talking about Windows 7 Professional on local environment. This is a stand along machine just for development purposes. I have ColdFusion 9 installed and working just perfect on IIS 7.5. Re: CF 9 does not connect IIS 7 smtp server on windows 7
Hi Joy Assuming you have access to the CF server, open a command window on that machine. Then type: telnet URL of the smtp server 25 and press enter. If you have access to that server (ie, no firewall issues) and a mail see Ed is properly configured on it, you will get back a response. If you do, just type quit and press enter. At that point the issue is probably authentication with that server. If all you get is dead air, then you need to determine why you can't reach it. It's either a firewall issue or a configuration issue on the machine the mail server should be running on. Unfortunately diagnosing these two issues is painfully specific to the software installed. Can't help much beyond the packages I'm familiar with. Ben On Aug 12, 2013, at 1:45 PM, Joy Paulose kalappura...@hotmail.com wrote: Byron, netstat -an is not showing port 25. The nice thing about switching to Apps and using Drive is that you end up with a single security infrastructure for mail and documents, but you really only get that value if you're also switching your mail to Apps. There's nothing stopping you from using Google Drive separately with public Google accounts, or purchasing Apps licenses to use Google Drive with domain accounts. Anyone know whether any of the already-mentioned services allows for that and/or can think of another alternative that does? I know that Google Drive, box.com and Dropbox do not offer this option. Running CF-32bit on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit
Trying to run the 32-bit version of CF with Windows Server 2008 because of problems with COM objects. Verified that CF 32-bit is running, Application Pool configured to allow 32-bit apps. Still getting the msg about Can not use native code: Initialisation failed. when trying to instantiate a COM object. Is there anything else that has to be set up to allow COM objects to be called from 32-bit version of CF running under Windows Server 2008.? Thanks in advance. Re: Running CF-32bit on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit
My understanding is that 64 bit windows does not support COM at all. So, it's not a matter of which version of CF you run, but rather the OS itself. (I have to keep an old 32 bit server running for a single site that uses some COM objects...) Well it turns out that Andrew and Will hit the nail on the head. There is something wrong with the cf9.0.2 installer. Today, I reloaded the os and used the cf9 installer. Then I ran the cf9.0.1 updater, then I loaded up the administrator and all appeared to be working fine. Next, Ioaded a few sites and ran the web server config tool, and all is working as expected. Re: r2 server (web edition(Can;t get CF installed on windows
if the installer simply did not work period, then every single person who had downloaded it would be having the same issue. I have used the 9.0.2 installer a couple of times now with no issue. So there must be something specific on your setup it doesn't like. Perhaps you should report the bug here and someone from Adobe may investigate. https://bugbase.adobe.com/ On Mon, Sep 3, 2012 at 8:45 PM, Robert Rhodes rrhode...@gmail.com wrote: Well it turns out that Andrew and Will hit the nail on the head. r2 server (web edition(Can;t get CF installed on windows
I have installed CF9 many times without incident, but am now having no luck installing the new 9.0.2 x64 installer. I am sure I am doing something wrong, but I have tried everything I can think of and still no luck. Hopefully someone here can help. I am installing CF9.0.2 on Windows 2008R2 Server x64 (Web Edition). After installing the OS, I do all the OS patches first. Next, I install the Web Server Role, and in role services, I install: Static Content Default Document Http Errors Http Redirection Asp.net .net extendibility CGI ISAPI Extensions ISAPI FIlters Htttp Logging Request Monitor Request FIltering IP and Domain Restrictions Static Content Compression IIS Management Console I then install CF9.0.2 in a small partition (f: drive) and when prompted I use a path outside the webroot for the CFAdmin. When the 9.0.2 Installer finishes, the administrator loads fine for the final configuration. Once CF is done with its final configuration, I add an IIS site, and drop in a simple coldfusion file. When I run the simple coldfusion file, I get this error: HTTP Error 404.2 - Not Found The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the ISAPI and CGI Restriction list settings on the Web server. I then check ISAPI and CGI Restrictions. There are four entries there (2 asp.net and 2 Macromedia Server extensions) I then try setting Allow unspecifiec CGI and ISAPI modules, but still no luck. Lastely, I try setting permissions on cgi and isapi (in Handler mappings) to and set them to execute. adnd still no luck. I agree. :) I am installing with: ColdFusion_9_WWEJ_win64.exe from the link here: http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads_updates.html#cf9 I have tried deinstalling and reinstalling CF9.02 a few times. I have also tried reloading the OS and starting from scratch a few times. No luck. I guess my next try will be to load from the 9.0 disc and do the updates. That's a pain but at least might get this damn server running. This really should not be this hard. Every other time I have done this it has gone fine. Re: r2 server (web edition(Can;t get CF installed on windows
It sounds like they are using the same installer as 9.0, if that is the case then I am also guessing that the same problems exist. Which means when you update / install 9.02 it needs to have the IIS 6 compatibility installed. I would have assumed that Adobe would have taken care of that. If your lucky enough to have a 9.01 or 9.02 server running, you could try to install ColdFusion and grab that WSCFG tool and try getting the connectors working with that. -- Regards, Andrew Scott WebSite: http://www.andyscott.id.au/ Google+: http://plus.google.com/113032480415921517411http://plus.google.com/108193156965451149543 On Mon, Sep 3, 2012 at 3:17 PM, Wil Genovese jugg...@trunkful.com wrote: I wish I could help, I have not been able to get been able to get 9.0.2 to install and run either. CF Studio 5 and topstyle lite Windows 7 errors
I know it's an old editor, but I like it. I moved to Windows 7, the bundled version of topstyle lite, doesn't like win 7, so I went out and got topstyle lite 3, runs fine in win 7. The question is, How do I configure CF studio to call the new version? I looked through the option, but I don't see one for topsyle. Anyone got any hints? Re: Authenticate Linux DSN to Windows AD account?
It really depends on the DBMS in question. I am unclear from your message if you're talking about SQL Server specifically (it seems like you might be asking if SQL Server is the only DBMS you can use AD/LDAP authentication with, to which I would say no). For AD with SQL Server in CF7, you can construct a connection string which I believe will allow you to authenticate with LDAP. I've never had to do this though. On my own installs I just allow the CF user to have password authentication, and at my job someone else manages that bit. Here are a couple directions I'd go in if you're talking about a DBMS other than SQL Server: MySQL - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1329963/using-ldap-ad-for-mysql-authenication PostgreSQL: http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.1/static/auth-methods.html On Thu, Jan 5, 2012 at 11:23, Dan LeGate d...@legeek.com wrote: Is it possible to authenticate a Linux Data Source in ColdFusion with a Windows Active Directory account? Coldfusion as Windows Service Throwing 500 Errors
My backup ColdFusion Standard server, which runs on 32-bit Windows 2003, just started throwing 500 errors with the following stacktrace displayed: java.lang.NullPointerException at jrun.servlet.JRunRequestDispatcher.invoke(JRunRequestDispatcher.java:285) at jrun.servlet.ServletEngineService.dispatch(ServletEngineService.java:543) at jrun.servlet.jrpp.JRunProxyService.invokeRunnable(JRunProxyService.java:203) at jrunx.scheduler.ThreadPool$DownstreamMetrics.invokeRunnable(ThreadPool.java:320) at jrunx.scheduler.ThreadPool$ThreadThrottle.invokeRunnable(ThreadPool.java:428) at jrunx.scheduler.ThreadPool$UpstreamMetrics.invokeRunnable(ThreadPool.java:266) at jrunx.scheduler.WorkerThread.run(WorkerThread.java:66) Not only does this show on all of my websites hosted on this box, but it also shows in CF Administrator. ColdFusion runs as a Windows service. This box ran fine until a reboot today (accumulated Windows updates necessitated a reboot, as well as installation of .Net framework 3.5). The weird thing is that if I start ColdFusion from the command prompt (using the cfstart.bat file), everything works fine and I get no 500 errors. Re: SOT: Advantages of running IIS 7.5 vs Apache 2.2x on Windows and vice versa
Since no one has responded to this yet, I'll go ahead and throw my two cents on it. Personally, I wouldn't say that IIS is better then Apache, but IIS7 is *WORLDS* better then IIS6 or previous versions - it's worth a second look. The configurations are far more unified and controllable then they were in IIS6, and the guts of IIS7 are far more exposed then they were in IIS6. Folks that know me know that I'm not a MS fanboy in any way, but IIS7 is a respectable web server. I feel the same way about the new MS Firewall in 2008 R2. MS *FINALLY* got the firewall right in that one. It's a powerful and capable firewall. I still prefer Apache/Linux, (I can dig in the guts more and I'm more comfortable with it) but when I work with Windows, I'm a much happier person when it's 2008 or newer. ;) Warm regards, Jordan Michaels On 10/05/2011 06:09 PM, Gerald Guido wrote: I have been running Apache for a number of years on Windows. Re: SOT: Advantages of running IIS 7.5 vs Apache 2.2x on Windows and vice versa
If you normally use IIS then IIS7 is like learning a whole new web server as it really has changed that much. So if you are already familiar with Apache then you may just find it easier to go down that route. But if you prefer the GUI route then it is worth learning. Some folks get easily frustrated as it is a complex beast now with so many features, but www.iis.net is a great resource if u need help. There are so many reasons why IIS7 is great, it would be impossible to list them all, so i'll give give you a few key ones that make my day. - URL rewriting is now native. - Per site configuration can now be done with the web.config file, so rather like the .htaccess file in Apache, you can tweak each site by hand or by code, no need to use the GUI. - PHP Manager, no more faffing about with php.ini or fastCGI, the PHP manager allows you to choose which version of PHP u want for each site and edit the php config settings and enable.disable extensions with ease. - Web Platform Installer - allows you to easily install tons of apps directly to your site with a few click, such as Joomla, wordpress and tons more, and also allows you to add/remove IIS components/features, and install server apps such as MySQL and SQL Server all with the optimum settings for windows/IIS - more granular error handling - request filtering allows you to easily hide/block certain requests from the web. So if you use .ini file sin your app, you can filter these so only your app can see them. - built in tracing tools for failed requests - if you like scripting things, then you will also like what you can do with powershell HTH Russ On 10/05/2011 06:09 PM, Gerald Guido wrote: I have been running Apache for a number of years on Windows. I was on IIS for years before I want to Apache and I would like to cull some of the collective wisdom of the list and see what your thought are on the matter. As always, many TIA! SOT: Advantages of running IIS 7.5 vs Apache 2.2x on Windows and vice versa
I have been running Apache for a number of years on Windows. I really like Apache and I have not used IIS in years. The last version I used was IIS 6 on Windows server 2003 some 4 years ago. I have a new 2k8 server and I am curious about IIS 7.5. Developer Edition License Exception and Windows 7
This just started happening on Friday, so not sure if it's Windows 7-specific or not (I've been on 7 for a couple of months), but now it's getting annoying (4-5 times today already). I'm running across a problem with the Dev edition saying there's a license restriction exception. No one else has been hitting my machine, but it seems like Windows is hitting CF with 3 different IP addresses. The exception lists the one it's trying to use (an IPv4 address) and the two that it's already tied to (two different IPv6 addresses). One of the v6 and the v4 address are tied to my wireless connection, and the other v6 is tied to my ethernet connection. I suppose I could disconnect the wireless (I've never figured out why it seems like Windows gives wireless precedence over a hard-wired connection), but I was wondering if there was something else I could do. I'm getting really tired of restarting CF (my computer isn't exactly over-powered and the app can be slow to start up, so it kills 10-15 minutes of productivity every time). So, short of disabling the wireless connection, is there something else I could do? Re: Developer Edition License Exception and Windows 7
just disable IPv6 if your not using it. Also it should work on 127.0.0.1 regardless, so check your hosts file and make sure localhost and all your local dev domains map to 127.0.0.1 On Mon, Sep 26, 2011 at 9:47 PM, Scott Brady dsbr...@gmail.com wrote: This just started happening on Friday, so not sure if it's Windows 7-specific or not (I've been on 7 for a couple of months), but now it's getting annoying (4-5 times today already). Re: Installation Issues with ColdFusion Builder 2 Hot Fix 1 on Workstation Running 64-Bit Windows 7 SP 1
Can you please send me your mail ID to krish...@adobe.com so that I can work with you to figure out the issue and solution. Thanks, Krishna On Sat, Aug 27, 2011 at 11:26 AM, Christian Abad house-of-fus...@accessiblecomputing.com wrote: Folks: I am unable to get the ColdFusion Builder 2 Hot Fix 1 to install correctly on my stand-alone instance of ColdFusion Builder 2 that's running on my 64-Bit Windows 7 SP 1 workstation. Are there any installation logs to look at? (Perhaps something specific to InstallAnywhere?) NOTE: I have reviewed all of the Windows logs (e.g. Event Viewer) and don't see anything related to ColdFusion Builder 2 Hot Fix 1 at all... Also, is there a way to manually run the Hot Fix after it has been decompressed into my TEMP directory? (The files created from the InstallAnywhere decompression seem to remain behind fully intact in my TEMP directory ) Bottom Line - I really need to install this Hot Fix, since I cannot use the broken Search and Replace feature that's addressed in this release (FYI: That's Bug # 2918920)...
