If the knowlege of the MusicIP architecture and source code has been transfered to other persons in the company there has to be a business opportunity for Logitech. However, if this isn't the case the value for Logitech might just be the patents and algorithms behind the mixing and analyzing logic, which might be hard to use without the lead developers. The fact that nothing has been released for almost a year is a bit worrying. MusicIP is unique and it offers a mixing functionality which is something SqueezeCenter IMHO really needs to take the next step. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) 'My download page' (http://erland.isaksson.info/download) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61977 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thanks for your other answers, looking forward to 1.2. I'll contact ismitho about Lyrics. Even maintaining the connection, I don't have hardware button control without a full wake up, even if I wait several seconds on the lock screen. Jailbroken iphone if that matters, but don't think I've done anything to those buttons anywhere else. By 1.0, I meant the immediately previous version to the current 1.1, which required the plugin and SC 7.3, was that 1.01? Anyway, before yesterdays iPeng update, just yesterday, I changed cover.png in the Default skin HTML, and this image also showed up in iPeng Now Playing, which was nice, it looked so good on the iPhone screen. Rather than going in and trying to change an iPhone app (I would have no idea how) would it be possible in future versions that instead of using a bitmap in the app, that iPeng could call on cover.png in the Default skin, which it seems to have done until the recent update? I guess cache this image locally? Maybe use this for the thumbnail view too, though I really only care about the Now Playing screen. That was fun for a day. Silly little thing, I know. And if I did start messing around and broke the app, wouldn't I just be able to download it again? If I changed the app found in iTunes, would it update to the iPhone? So much I don't know. I know just enough to start trying to do something I have no clue about and break it. Perhaps best if I left it alone. -- bephillips More than 40,296 songs on 2,789 albums by 2,126 artists. Re: [slim] MusicIP development... stalled???
Maybe someone should start a thread with a poll to get the approximate number of SC users that have installed and use the MusicIP and SugarCube plugins. If only a few SC users have installed and use the plugins, it might be because there are bit hard to install and setup. I doubt that if users experience the great mixes they generate that they would ever give these plugins up. Once I installed them and got them working (correctly) I was hooked. If Logitech were to get a hold of MusicIP and integrates its functionality in SC so that user can "easily" generate these wonderful mixes... SC could be an even bigger hit. I can just picture sliding controls in the player panel to adjust the mood and filters of the mixes for SugarCube... on the flight. -- tamanaco tamanaco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4620 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61977 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I would like to echo all that's been said. Music IP is the 'real' genius, in that it really does create special moments in my collection which nothing else does. Apple's Genius seems little more than a random mix tool. I agree that from a purely commercial point of view Logitech should embrace Genius. Great work Pippin! I ended up staying up late last night playing with the new version. That problem with volume due to IR Blaster settings was weird, thanks for sorting that out. Website is looking nicer too. Regarding the undocumented feature (love it!), you mention above that just turning on the screen should be enough to make the hardware buttons work, but I find that I have to fully wake up the iPhone for them to work. Maybe I need to activate "Keep connection active" (this just occurred to me)? I don't see where to access the Lyrics plugin is. I remember this was available from the track info page of the ipeng Safari skin. I don't see it under Extras, which is where one finds it in the Browser UI. No access to track info from the playlist view yet? This is where it would be most useful to me. Looking ahead in the current random or dynamic playlist and editing, or adding adjoining songs from the same album/live recording as one of the random tracks. Another minor problem I'm sure you can help me with. I want to change out the generic grayscale cover art image for something more colorful, since I see it all the time in my large collection of unreleased live recordings. See this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62228 In iPeng 1.0, replacing cover.png in the Browser UI Default skin HTML also changed the generic image in iPeng Now Playing, though not in the thumbnail cover art views. I had been meaning to ask you where that thumbnail image was located to change it too, but now with iPeng 1.1, the Now Playing generic cover art image is not responding to my change of cover.png in Default skin. Re: [slim] Tune in URL to run a local program?
Hello, since you are already using DVB-Viewer it's just a small step from there :) I recommend you check out DVB-Viewer's 'Recording Service', which is a small application that runs on just about any PC and doesn't need many resources. I have it up and running on the same machine that I am running Squeezecenter on and it serves my needs just perfectly. One of its nicest features is the ability to receive 'http-get commands' to which it answers with the requested DVB-stream. Here's an example: Let's say you have BBC Radio 1 stored on channel number 25 in DVB Viewer's channelist. All you have to do is add a favorite to Squeezecenter's favorite list with the following URL: http://serverip:port/upnp/channelstream/25.mp2 Selecting this entry will stream the requested audio to your player. That's it. No plugin required whatsoever and it works flawlessly. I suggest you check out the DVB Viewer user forum on http://www.dvbviewer.info/forum/index.php?showforum=34 to find out more. "No Mixers available should show up when you use the "m" mode on an Album or an Artist and no mixers are registered. In which menus do you see the message? Don't get confused by the "Play Shuffled" message on top of track lists, this doesn't mean you have to play the tracks shuffled, but - like on the iPod Application - this is a shortcut to enable "shuffle" and play the whole album. You can play the album straight from the first track by switching to play mode (">") and selecting the first track. If you still get a shuffled list, you probably set the "shuffle" mode on the NowPlaying screen (tap the big cover art to get an overlay to change the mode). -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62245 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Pippin, Nice update. However, whenever I choose play, add, add next the album to the playlist it always said "No mixers available" and nothing happen. I can only manage to play an album by choose "i" then it will add the album I chose to the playlist and start playing, however in a shuffle manner. I can't make it play starting from the 1st song. Re: [slim] SB1 syncing tips?
awy;414011 Wrote: > ...and I have no idea what Spicefly SugarCube does. Sugarcube is an on-the-fly extension to MusicIP, which adds a new song to the end of the playlist based on the current song playing. It seems like a natural candidate for these delays, but it looks like it makes the calculation after the song starts. I have the sync delay set at 1 second currently, which appears to be enough as I played music for about 2 hours last night and I only experienced the delay with a couple of songs. If I experience more I may make it longer. I don't know if there may have been other issues related to this problem, or if they were caused by some combination of the plugins, but I did experience the following problems: After removing the plugins last night the nightly rescan appears to have blown up the database, sending Squeezecenter into a crash loop, but it is rebuilding now. And since I added the SB1, I did notice the occasional complete disconnect in stream information, where Squeezecenter will report a completely different song playing opposite the actual song that is playing. This may be a side effect of the sync delay. I've noticed Squeezecenter having trouble with shuffling the playlist right before the track changes, but generally it would just stall, not play the wrong song. Also, as I noticed earlier, sometimes the SB1 would just drop the audio output, but would otherwise be functioning normally according to its own feedback and Squeezecenter. All that said I consider this issue resolved. I'm always impressed at the underlying engineering that went into the Squeezecenter design. The fact that the remote architecture is such that my SB1, SB3 and Boom remotes are all interchangeable, and that the SB1, with its outdated underlying hardware is still viable client which can leverage the latest server, is further testament to this. I also appreciate the help from the community and Logitech which has helped me make the most of this system. Thanks again for helping me resolve this issue. -- sander sander's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10737 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62152 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Napster UK Subscription details
I've been enjoying the 31 day free napster subscription on my SB2 and my recently acquired SB boom. The free offer is about to expire over the weekend and have decided to go for one of the monthly subscription offers. Having read a little about this there looks to be 2 choices: Napster to go: allows unlimited downloads to 3 PCs and transfer to one of the compatible MP3 players (right now you get a free one as part of the subscription). £15 per month. Napster unlimited: the same as Napster to go but without the transfers to an MP3 player. £10 per month. I think I read both of these should work with SB streaming? I also read that bitrates for music from napster are 128kbit/s streamed and 192kbit/s downloaded? (i.e. the downloaded tracks would offer higher quality) The question I've not found an answer to is if I download a track to my PC (using either of the above subscription options), would I be able to play the downloaded tracks on my squeezeboxes and therefore get the better quality - or would the DRM protection prevent this in both cases? -- PaulR PaulR's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1220 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62267 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

It also removes the "possibility" of adding a "suggest-a-track" function/service based on the signatures of tracks in the MusicIP server database. In other words, an enhanced client could be developed that would "display" the name(s) and link(s) to sample previews of one or several tracks in the MusicIP server which have similar signatures to that of the currently playing song. Re: [slim] Tune in URL to run a local program?
Ah, hadnÂt realized they were fake URLs used by a plugin. Naively, I though I might be able to put in something, like a javascript or something, that was recognised as a URL but ran a local file. Your SharkPlay plugin looks like it contains the sort of think I was looking for, but my aim is simpler. I just want to Âcall the Wave Input function and run the command line as above example to set the channel of the DVB card. I donÂt want to set up or control the card from within SC (I can do that with the existing DVB app.) other than the channel Service ID. The hope was that then I would be able to have a favo(u)rites list where each entry was a URL that called up wavin:0 & the command line that changed to a specific channel. Currently I use the Wave Input as is and have to use non-SC workarounds to change channels, a system I canÂt use with my new Duet. -- Skye Skye's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11214 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62250 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] BBC WMA Radio streams cause my SB3 to reboot
Nope, not playing RealAudio...I'm specifically playing the BBC WMA streams. I'm using AlienBBC to listen to the RealAudio streams, because they work. I'd prefer to listen to the higher-bitrate WMA audio. I'm using the BBCiplayer pluging to access the live WMA streams. I know this is nothing to do with the iPLayer plugin by the way. I've tried directly playing the WMA streams with the same result. Interestingly, I have no problem listening to "Listen Again" streams, just live audio. By "nothing happens", I mean that having forced transcoding from WMA to FLAC for example (for the filetypes setting), when I go to play the stream, I get the "connecting" message on the SB3 display, then...nothing. Even then I think the only time there may be a processing delay would when saving cover art. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62152 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Ok so what does this button ~ do besides make the pause, power and switch source icons glow? Re the shuffle, this is available from Squeezenetwork either from the remote or the SN web interface. In fact I am listening to a shuffled Napster playlist now. Re the playlist, the SB Remote shows the playlist so it's not quite true that ipeng shows it in the same way. The SB remotre lists my entire napster playlist, ipeng is just blank. The playlist thing is just a tweak not a biggie but for me the shuffle is a bigger deal. -- mattybain '[image: http://imagegen.last.fm/recenttracks3/recenttracks/MattyBain.gif]' (http://www.last.fm/user/MattyBain/?chartstyle=recenttracks3) mattybain's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62245 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SB1 syncing tips?
Your best bet is probably to wind Synchronization Start Delay up as far as you can bear: maybe 1-2 seconds. As I said, syncing is always a little hit and miss with SB1s because of the older protocol limitations. Trackstat may have been it, although I thought that Erland had updated his plugins not to do stuff at track start. I don't know when Find Cover Art comes into play, and I have no idea what Spicefly SugarCube does. New this was coming :-) We had quite some discussions around this during the beta and actually I believe we missed out on the SN use case for this :-( The issue is: in most other cases, you will often only use add in single menus so we decided it's easier if it always switches back. There's also another issue: Since these menus are all provided by the server (not iPeng), they have different functionality and not all menus do have "add" or "add next" or it may have a different meaning (it's just a key mapping from the controller) so it's a bit tricky to find a logic on how to preserve the state. iPeng 1.2 will get a "clutter options" menu with some more things to be configurable, could add that to the list, could you open a ticket? https://trac.penguinlovesmusic.de/trac/ipengnat/wiki > > Anyway great work, I will be leaving a glowing review on itunes. Now this is something new: You'll have to file that request to SN. iPeng just executes the commands and menus the server provides so if SN doesn't have the feature, iPeng will not have it, too. In this case, the feature has to be available for the Controller. Or is there a way to do this on the Controller? > > Also would it be possible to have the Napster SN playlist display in > it's entirity like it does on the SB Remoter? Same thing. iPeng shows it the same way as on the Controller. Good thing is: You get more potential users for any change since it will also apply to SBC :-) -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62245 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Phil, it will still analyze music only slower. Re: [slim] BBC WMA Radio streams cause my SB3 to reboot
If you are using AlienBBC menus to play the BBC streams then you are playing the RealAudio format not WMA. What do you means by "nothing happens" - for example - doesn't start - starts but no audio - no change from previous settings -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60988 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] BBC WMA Radio streams cause my SB3 to reboot
OK time to bump this thread! I just got myself a Boom. It can play BBC WMA streams without any problem. However, those sames streams still cause my SB3 to hang and reboot. This is quite frustrating. I'm not sure if it is just the BBC streams or WMA in general. I'd really appreciate some help: o What logging options should I switch on to capture the most useful information? o Is anybody else seeing the same issue? o What other WMA streams would you suggest I try (none-BBC), that might cause issues? o Why in fact is my SB3 rebooting? For background information, my setup is: Version: 7.3.3 - 25411 @ Mon Mar 9 03:21:08 PDT 2009 Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8 Platform Architecture: i686-linux Perl Version: 5.10.0 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi MySQL Version: 5.0.67-0ubuntu6 Boom: firmware 45 SB3: firmware 125 I have AlienBBC installed, so I have mplayer installed and configured under file types, hence for WMA I have: WMA -> FLAC : Disabled WMA -> MP3 : mplayer.sh/lame WMA -> WAV : Disabled WMA -> WMA : Native I've tried disabling native WMA, to force conversion to another format, but nothing happens. Any help really appreciated! Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] iPeng 1.1 now on the AppStore
Pippin the SN handling of Napster is brilliant, browsing my Napster library is just like having a SC library. However one small thing when I am creating a playlist I often change the add item icon (which is defaulted to play) to add and then just hold to add to the playlist. However when I go back to artists it defaults back to play. Would it be possible to leave it as add until I change it back to play myself?
