Interesting issue. Can you mail me a file of an album with this issue? I will then work towards a resolution. Question though, does SBS ignore the ¡ and ¿ also and sort on the first letter of the album name? tamanaco;502260 Wrote: > I use the Genre, Album Artists and Album Name tags to build my folders > structures. For this reason ACC determines for itself which album is a various artist album and which not. This works quiet well actually but as you correctly noticed in this single case not. I will use the album tags you included to set up a test case in order to optimize the detection. This will probably be in the weekend though as sadly the christmas holidays are over. Maybe SBS has an improved detecting of various artists and can the detection code in ACC be removed. To be investigated I guess... Playlist creation to me is as per KMRs post above, the ability to select a set of songs, maybe related to subsets of artist, genre, album etc. or maybe at random. For a while I used the SlimFX skin for SqueezeCenter (Adobe Flash application). It was a drag and drop interface similar to old iTunes. It still exists but since it used CLI, I doubt it is fully compatible with V7.x.x. It was very quick to browse and select. The Squeeze web interface is very clunky for this IMHO. I tend to create random playlists using the IR Remote or iPeng. I may look at Songbird. Don't flame, but I have a Linn DS on my system for the main HiFi playback. (IMHO better investment than transporter at this time) The Linn approach for Macs (well those not using Squeezebox Server / SkweezyDS) is Songbird, which gets rather mixed reviews. -- DaveWr DaveWr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9331 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73445 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Hi Based in Singapore here and everything works as intended (using the SB Classic). There is no reason something won't work in some regions. Internet Radio: Please note that these devices only plays streams that are available online. I have looked around a bit and haven't been able to find streams for MediaCorp radio stations online, so they won't be available to the device. MediaCorp seem to have stopped streaming. If you are running a local server (currently called Squeezebox Server, previously SqueezeCenter, and slimserver before that), just upgrade the server and the SB3 firmware will upgrade to the current version (130). If you are only using squeezenetwork.com, then try connecting to that. It has been renamed to mysqueezebox.com, and it should also upgrade your SB3 firmware. To get the current release of the server software, go to http://downloads.slimdevices.com/SqueezeboxServer_v7.4.1/ or http://www.mysqueezebox.com/download and download the version appropriate for your OS. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73499 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'm experienceing a similar problem with the addition of a third SB; SB1 - Duet SB2 - Boom SB3 - Boom All devices are wireless (no issues on that front) and I previously had SB1 and SB2 synchronised, running on SBS 7.4.1 (hosted on XP). I've just upgraded the server hardware and installed WHS, including the WHS-specific SBS 7.4.2 With all devices on, I'm trying to synchronise them via the SBC. In either case, the SBC menu shows; - Sync to SBx (x is the Boom I am not controlling at the time) - Unsync Using these circular references got the Boom's sync'd on Radio Paradise, while the Duet continued to stream BBC R2. If it makes any difference, I was playing BBC R2 via the BBC app installed on MSB.com. I also noted that there was a distinct absence of a sync option when controlling the Duet. Re: [slim] Playlist Empty - Created by foobar
I have just installed a Readynas Duo and squeezebox boom and transferred all my music and playlists to the readynas. I have also updated the readynas with version 7.4.1 ( using downloaded file Squeezeboxserver_7.4.1-sparc-readynas.bin) and updated the firmware on the squeezebox so I assume I am pretty much up to date. None of the 100 or so playlists I transferred work at all. They all appear empty in the squeezebox server but are OK when I view them on the readynas drive. I have resolved 2 different problems which has resolved most of my issues with empty playlists. 1. The transferred playlist contains paths to music on my windows hard drive for example D:\My Documents\My Music\Buddy Holly\The Legendary Buddy Holly\11 - (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care.mp3 which I first had to change to\Media\Music\Buddy Holly\The Legendary Buddy Holly\11 - (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care.mp3so it referenced the music file on the readynas. This did not resolve the problem on its own 2. I then created an exact copy of a failing playlist using squeezebox server and compared the two playlists and found that the slashes were the other way round. So I ammended the entry to now show /Media/Music/Buddy Holly/The Legendary Buddy Holly/11 - (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care.mp3 and the problem was solved. I can now scan my playlists, see them within squeezecenter server AND see and play them on my squeezebox boom I can only think that the format change with the slash is required as the squeezebox sever running on my readynas drive is Linux. but thats a guess -- pilkinb pilkinb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35560 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71823 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

My music library isn't enormous (2000 songs or so), so doing this on a drag-n-drop interface is quite useful. I used to use iTunes, and still do for my lossy iPod library, but I have a separate FLAC library I use for my Squeezeboxen, and need to create playlists for that. I bought my SBv3 in July 2006 and recently (December 2009) I ran in the exact same problem : stellar performance => logitech logo continuously repeating ! One morning the SB freezed while playing a song (from library) and after reboot the continous logo appeared. The reset procedure ("Add" button while powering on the device) has no effect. Our problem and dates are strangely similar... Dead internal battery ? Re: [slim] last.fm
I'm not sure what has happened but I find I am now able to access full track information via 'right arrow' which takes me to a 10 item menu. This contains details of artist and other track info as well as the ability to mark the track as 'loved' or 'banned'. I definitely was not able to do this before. Right arrow used to take me to a single item menu that just said something like 'standard track info' and provided no further information or actions. I haven't knowingly upgraded the server software. The only thing I can think was that, because I was away over Xmas, I had shut everything down and then restarted when I got back so maybe that was all it needed to get this working for me. -- Zoltan Zoltan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9998 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72354 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Announce: New Squeezeslave 0.9 Release available on sourceforge
I've completed an initial port of the interactive (aka slimp3) display for windows 'r119' (http://ralph_irving.users.sourceforge.net/squeezeslave-0.9-119-win32-beta.zip). You can now interact with squeezeslave via the keyboard and control the player like the slimp3, sb2/3 and boom hardware players. Note that bit mapped graphics are not available, only text characters can be displayed, similiar to the slimp3 player. Please see post#1 in this thread for minimum server side versions that support this feature. LIRC and LCDd features are currently NOT available in the win32 release. The screen shot is an 80x4 command prompt running squeezeslave-0.9-119.exe -r15 -D -w78 Key mappings are listed in the --help/-h information. The displayed information can be changed in the player settings for the squeezeslave player. I've included an r119 ASIO binary in the zip file as well which should fix the hanging issue members have been seeing with the asio4all driver. The display feature is NOT enabled for ASIO at this time. +---+ |Filename: ssdsp.jpg| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8961| +---+ -- ralphy ralphy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3484 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63966 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v2
Maybe I spoke too soon... anyway... this is a different "cosmetic" issue. I have a couple Spanish albums names that start with either ¡ or ¿. These exclamation and question marks should be ignored and instead the first letter of the Album Name should be used to sort them. See ¡Cubanismo! Albums listed under "&" in the picture below. I use the Genre, Album Artists and Album Name tags to build my folders structures. All my various artists albums in SC and ACC are displayed as expected except for "one" album. The relevant album tags for this album are: Album Artists: Belly Dance (Various Artist), Album Name: The Best Belly Dance Album in The World... Ever! Vol. 2., the album compilation flag is also set to 1 and every track has the correct Artist associated with it. As you can see in the pics below the SC Web UI lists the Album as expected under the Artist "Belly Dance (Various Artist)", but it appears that ACC changes the Album Artist tag to "Various Artist". Note that ACC does not change the album Roots Of Rumba Rock 2 whose Album Artist tag is displayed correctly as "Zaire Classics (Various Artists)" and which also has the compilation flag set to 1. I hope, this time, I explained the problem in a way you can understand. +---+ |Filename: sc.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8960| +---+ -- tamanaco tamanaco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4620 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73284 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SqueezeCenter on dvico tvix m-6600n
To the best of my knowledge, the Tvix 6600 is just a media player like the Squeezebox (I have two of the older Tvix models). They will play music fine if you direct it to your music folder. The Tvix, IMHO, is the best Video media stereamer available, the Squeezebox is the best Audio streamer avaialble. The Tvix does do audio, but it has a lot of limitations (it tries to do everything). In my experience, it can't search and you can't adjust the playlist while playing, I found it so annoying that I just go to the Squeezebox for music. If you only play music from predefiend playlists, I suspect it will work just fine for you. The Tvix is built on a Linux kernel, and as such, the source code is available. If you have the knowledge, you could compile it and most likely incorporate the Squeezebox Server, but it is probably easier to just build yourself a mediacenter PC - an Atom with ION should do all you need. -- hoosier hoosier's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13116 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73492 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Can I find out what speed my Squeezeboxen are connected at?
I've just done a WLAN reconfig (my old SB1 has been replaced by a Classic, so now I'm "802.11g only"). Judging by general Squeezebox responsiveness and the time that the "buffer" indicator takes to get to 100%, performance has improved significantly. I'm a happy bunny! It got me thinking - on my laptop, I can see the speed that I'm connected to the wireless network. Is there any way to tell how fast the connections for each Squeezebox is? (I'm aware of the Network Test function to gauge throughput, but for clarity I'm asking about the reported connection speed here). cheers Chippy -- Chippy Chippy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73490 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Interesting - thanks for the update. Yeah - I definitely don't see the issue on my SB3s or Boom, just the new "Classic". I've tried with different amounts of text on the screen to see if that affects the issue (it doesn't). The problem does go away, however, if I use the lowest brightness setting. As you say, it's not massively noticeable from a distance (it's just different to what I'm used to). I'm in the process of getting a replacement, but to be honest if that one has the same problem I think I'll just live with it. cheers Chippy -- Chippy Chippy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73136 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I picked up an SB1 cheap on craigslist a while back and tried to add it to my mix, but ultimately gave up. After going through a number of troubleshooting steps the basic problem, from what I experienced, is the buffer on the SB1 is just too small and it can't compensate for the problems that the newer players mask. [slim] SB3 Display Repairs
Yesterday my SB3 (first slimdevices love, bought 2 yrs 4 mos ago) fell onto the floor in an event initiated by my ever-inquisitive one year old son. I wasn't there to see how bad of a fall it was. Initially I was sad to see the display was slightly faded on the left side of the screen. The amount of "good pixels" was initially well over half the screen. I noticed that the problem seemed to get better as I was playing with it (the amount of "good pixels" would grow). I then took it apart and looked around, but didn't do anything (the display doesn't appear to be accessible at all). When I turned it back on after putting it back together, the problem was worse (nearly all of the screen faded), but got better as it "warmed up". Only to a point though - the far left was still dim. I left it overnight in standby mode, and today the display is completely gone. It still plays great. Anyone ever changed out a display on an SB3 before? I'm not much at soldering but would give it a shot if I could find a replacement display. Which leads me to my next question, anyone have an SB3 I could salvage for parts (with a screen that is still believed to work)? I think unfortunately I now have another SB receiver unit... -- mattbrown521 mattbrown521's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13220 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73484 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

One thing that you can do it create folders within the Favorites and store your different sets of favorites in the different folders. You are probably using Windows 7? Bill has decided to set the display to 125% of its normal size causing many application (especially web based apps) with font sizing issues. I have not found a way yet to reduce this by code for ACC only and I don't think there is a way to do this. If the screen layout does not look like the screenshots on the ACC download page, position your mouse on the ACC screen, hold CTRL and use the scroll wheel to reduce Bills magnification factor. I'll create an automatic popup when Windows 7 is detected with this message. About the codec in the table of contents, in my opinion the TOC should only include main data referred to, not meta data. The codec info is however included (if selected) in the Quickref catalog. Does this address your issues? Re: [slim] Sync SB1+SB3+Radio
I checked the sync settings on all the players, and noticed that the SB1 had the "Min sync adjustment" set to 50 ms, all the other players were at 10 ms. I changed this so that all players were set to 10 ms and did a hard reboot on all the players. At this point the sync is now working fairly well for local files as well as internet streams. I still occasionally experience: 1) No sound from one of the players, even though it appears to be playing 2) Skipped songs 3) Playing starting a second or two into a songs I only see these problems occasionally and only when the SB1 is in the mix. awy: If I can get a solid repro I'll file a bug, thanks. -- BigPotato BigPotato's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29342 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73399 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I agree, it's much better than VNCing, but except for Jaikoz which I admit I haven't used enough there is no good Mac alternative to Mp3tag. The problem I've run into with Songbird for this use is the same I stumbled with on iTunes: running the program on one computer while storing on a server may give file sharing & permission issues. You may have everything all set and working nicely one day, then you update your system, run maintenance, or accidentally start iTunes while not connected to the server and -- whoops -- without knowing it you've reset permissions that'll mess you up next time. Songbird may not be as bad as iTunes in this respect, but it does have one catch to it: if I choose to use it to remote manage the server I cannot use it on my laptop. Mp3tag is Windows only and I've tried the demo version of Jaikoz (as Dave mentions below) to do just this. I'll need to revisit Jaikoz but I gave up on it due to the cost at the time. Other Mac options are xACT which works a portion of the time (although output is WAV or AIFF only), and Tag by sbooth which works a fair amount of the time (latest release is v0.4.1 from 2006). True, I am using an Intel MacBook Pro to rip, convert, & tag then upload the finished product. But I also have an extensive library already on the server from years gone by. These files require some manipulation and I spend a lot of time VNCing to the server's screen to locate and repair the files to get them working correctly with SB Server. Problems include lost art & bad tags. For example: SB Server is currently listing all of the "Encomium: A Tribute To Led Zeppelin" (1995, Atlantic Records. Highly recommended.) as 12 separate CDs. I'll need to edit the tags on each to reflect the different artist are on one album. Likewise, it would be nice to drop a new CD into the server's tray and have it rip, query the CDDB, add tags, and place the files into the music folder without getting my laptop involved. [slim] Blown PSU on Squeezebox Classic
A burning smell came from my stereo cabinet the other day. Before I could discover the source, my Squeezebox Classic display went off. Re: [slim] Sync SB1+SB3+Radio
When players are synced, SBS terminates the streams and redistributes to all so in effect it does "proxied streaming" automatically. Since 7.3 (I think or maybe 7.3.3) sync mechanism has changed to allow internet streaming properly and to sync in mid stream. SB1 has a small buffer and with change in sync mechanism in 7.3, it is more difficult for SB1 to participate with large buffer players. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73399 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Sync SB1+SB3+Radio
In default setting all SB's get their internet radio feeds directly and individually, so there is no mechanism (other than sheer luck) that they will ever be in sync. Perhaps if you change the setting on all players to proxied streaming it will work. To do that, go in the SB server' Player tab and for each player select the Audio tab and set in the last field 'MP3 streaming' to 'Proxied streaming' Hope this helps. -- par par's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=695 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73399 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Can't get radio to work on SB3 + Mac Mini
In your setup, the SB3's can talk to the Mini, but not to the internet (unless you set the mini to bridge) and thus can play all of the mini's music but none of the internet. After I put my sb3's behind a firewall (I just didn't see any point in exposing them to the world) I found out radio didn't work anymore. There is a setting in Squeezecenter that may work in your setup: goto your Squeezebox server settings, choose Player -> Audio and change the MP3 Streaming method to 'Proxied Streaming' That said, I recommend the suggestions by the earlier posters and hookup your SB3's directly to the router. g'luck -- par par's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=695 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73419 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Mew Version of Transporter ?
I'd love a Transporter but two things stop me. First is the UK price. I've heard numerous excuses as to why the UK must pay a premium price for Logitech (& many other)products but the Transporter takes this the the level of a pure & simple rip-off. I've just checked pricing & the US price is $2,000. At todays's currency rates that should give a UK price of around £1,240. What is the actual UK price? - £1,800! A nearly 50% premium! Fairly priced? - not over here it's not. :( And then there's the software. There's no way I'm going to be shelling out that sort of money for a product that forces me to use Logitech's proprietary software when audio functionality is obviously such a low priority. -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73409 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
