Re: [slim] New modified SqueezeAMP batch?
Just wondering if there is an option to set limit to max volume when using squeezeAmp Bluetooth sink or at least set default volume after connecting to Bluetooth devices. My partner prefers to use native tidal application instead of LMS so Bluetooth is great option for her. However win 11 laptop doesn't seems to remember previous volume value and blasts at 100 volume after connecting to squeezeAmp. I doubt there is anything in Windows (unless I missed it) but perhaps it can be somehow set on squeezeAmp page with parameters etc? Maybe if you bend switch pins and IR slightly you may just make it but its tricky as same time you need to close/assembly case. I think you are better off to place it opposite side above WiFi but you will have to secure at least one speaker wire before case assembly. In this case you block 1st wire terminal header screw. Its certainly workable if you defo need switch. I gave up as placed squeezeamp next to wall socket with switch. Re: [slim] New modified SqueezeAMP batch?
Thanks Philippe, It makes sense and on off works, but Im not sure if I got incorrect top plate or it hasn't been changed after adding IR sensor.. Unless I'm being thick here.. When I position on/off switch above WiFi I don't have full access to speaker terminals . which makes me think it should be other side but there is IR sensor on a way :/ Its no big deal anyway .. Re: [slim] Remote key not working
Weirdly 2 of my SB Touch remotes recently developed this problem.. One has not working next and sleep, where other previous and back arrow. I had a look inside to do usual remote clean and possibly foil trick but it seems that pcb tracks started to fail... I checked with multimeter buzzer and there is no connection to chip form faulty buttons.. Don't think I'm skilled to fix that narrow track and doubt there is other magic fix. I bet your remote suffers from same problem if it's only particular button not working.. Re: [slim] Volume increasing to 50% randomly
Personally I never had this issue until I started using PiCorePlayer on rpi. Even with squeezelite on osmc and libreelec it never happened asaik.. Also in my case volume issue (reverting to 49) is only present on rpi pCp. None of others hw squeezeboxes..( Touches, radios and receiver) don't suffer this. Saying that, I have disabled Spotify Connect endpoint on rpi yesterday and it's been fine so far. No spontaneous volume change to 49. but I guess it's too early to say if that had any impact 3x Squeezebox Touch, 4x Squeezebox Radio, Squeezelite (RPi 3B with HiFiBerry DAC+Pro on OSMC), Material Skin Apk, Squeeze Commander, Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 with Material Skin (Docker in DS218+) Jaca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114815 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Wouldn't that introduce double Nat problem? Also are vlan subject double Nat? All examples of the vlan use seems to introduce vlan subnet and dhcp so I would assume that double Nat also applies.. However I believe vlan is on different layer so maybe not.. I clearly don't quite get it yet.. BTW looking at my gear it should be possible to set up vlans.. Guest network vlan seems straight forward as no other devices should be visible to guests and double Nat should not be concern. However for squeezebox vlan I would somehow need to make NAS member of SB vlan and main vlan (or non vlan traffic) Ideally if only lms docker container is part of both (for extra security) - perhaps this can be done with macvlan. BTW I have found someones hack for NAS becoming member of few vlans, however it apparently does not work with vswitch which I'm using for vDSM There is still topic of sorting mesh network to work with vlan I'm not sure about (maybe no big deal if it's just bridged to tagged lan port ) Anyway more I learn more complicated it all is. 3x Squeezebox Touch, 4x Squeezebox Radio, Squeezelite (RPi 3B with HiFiBerry DAC+Pro on OSMC), Material Skin Apk, Squeeze Commander, Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 with Material Skin (Docker in DS218+) Jaca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115017 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I will try get my head around it when I find a minute.. I mean quite few hours to scratch my head.. I do have switch with vlan capability and few openwrt routers acting as dumb AP mesh wifi so few possible options are there. However I remember worrying about double NAT as dhcp is running on managed router next door. Not sure if that's relevant to vlans or not.. It seems to work judging from wifi bars.. It never goes to 4g etc just when signal gets low below 2 bars it suddenly jumps to 4bars ie connecting to closer AP. [slim] 802.11r Rapid Transition and LMS
Not sure where it belongs so posting in general discussion. Just added to network another Openwrt router working as wifi repeater / access point with 802.11r Rapid Transition.. There seems to be issue with LMS communication on Android phone after AP transition .. SB Control Apps are unresponsive for a while after connecting to new AP.. Sometimes it's 1sec sometimes 20 seconds. Some of apps completely freak out when LMS connection is lost.. I don't know if it's LMS itself, probably more likely android. I just wonder if anyone has experienced this behaviour and manged to fix it? I know there were issues reported with some mesh wifi but haven't found anything with 802.11r. Re: [slim] Limit remote control (app) to certain player(s)
I guess one way to achieve that.. (mind you it's more of workaround then anything) would be to run another instance of LMS with duplicated music source /library or even perhaps tailored library to kid's liking.. Then using material apk with this particular lms instance on kid's phone. All your other controllers are connected to main LMS as now.. I believe Material skun/apk doesn't allow to move or even see players connected to another LMS... (this is possible with default Web interface and various other controller apps) Ps. I do not own actual controller (from duet) so don't know how it behaves.. Also it would still be possible to switch library form actual radio or touch interface if your kid is techie /knowsy :) 3x Squeezebox Touch, 4x Squeezebox Radio, Squeezelite (RPi 3B with HiFiBerry DAC+Pro on OSMC), Material Skin Apk, Squeeze Commander, Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 with Material Skin (Docker in DS218+) Jaca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114254 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Falling down from 3rd floor on head comment [emoji23] maybe bit harsh as one cannot ever perceive other person experiences as we are all limited by our own senses.. (BTW That's why you get so many freaks in talent shows..) Anyway even when I can get around 70-80% of ab blind tests correctly I completely agree its only tiny tiny details I have to almost strain to find. And guess what.. I don't actually listen to music but to some details of hihat or others instrument which gives away this tiny sq improvement.. That's not whats music is for me.. Its like watching 4k tv demo in shops with some paint colours mixing [emoji23] you watch it for a seconds just for sake of quality. You need to appreciate content instead! So as long as you can hear all instruments selectively you are good to go and able to experience musical ecstasy [emoji23] Even heavily compressed 128 radio stream can make your day wonderful.. Just testing it right now. I've managed to install Squeezelite on RPi OSMC. KODI's VPN doesn't affect player visibility on network which is great. Only issue I have so far I'm only able to use audio thru HDMI connected to TV. Changing card in Squeezelite doesn't seem to work properly unless I'm doing smth wrong.. 3.5mm headphones output only worked when I disconnected HDMI from RPi, but audio was slowed down..( like half speed or smth really weird). Maybe its smth to do with OSMC system, I don't know. As this RPi is used as KODI it needs to be connected to TV via HDMI so I'm hoping DAC hat will solve this problem. BTW sounds in chain RPi-> HDMI -> TV -> HiFi seems OK. I think I have heard initially few "pops" between songs but haven't noticed many. BTW sync seem work perfectly fine so far (lat 30ish min) with small adjustment to player audio delay in LMS settings. [slim] Advice for next player
Hi, I'm looking for some advice/help deciding solution for next SB player. I'm trying to use my old (long collecting dust) active speakers (Behringer MS40 "monitors") in conservatory. Due to covid-19 situation I'm looking at best budget option I had a go at old Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone with Squeezeplayer and Tasker, but I'm unable to get sync with other players (SB Touch and SB Radio). Also as phone isn't rooted (+locked bootloader) and without functional touchscreen, android " Loud volume warning" is real pain. I'm not sure if I can root it without touchscreen and wouldn't want to brick it as it works perfectly as Dashcam with HW buttons/tasker. I actually have Raspberry Pi 3 B with OSMC/KODI sitting in Lounge next to SB touch. I could perhaps get DAC hat for raspi to use it instead of Touch then re-purpose SB Touch in conservatory. But: Which HAT to buy? Is there any cheap decent one? Would I get real sync with raspi/squeezelite alongside KODI on OSMC? Does it matter OSMC runs with VPN? Would SB touch be ok sitting in conservatory which at times can be bit like green house. I know I live in UK, but on sunny summer day it can get there 35-40C if I forget to open windows. I'm also considering 2nd hand devices. It would be nice to get another SB Touch, but probably not possible for less then £80-100. Maybe " Duet receiver" which seem to be bit cheaper, however I don't have any experience with it. Would legacy devices sync properly with Touch/Radio? Any drawback using them in 2020? SqueezeAMP is probably overkill with MS40/ conservatory and not that cheap with shipping to UK.. Decisions Decisions Decisions :D anyway that's my current LMS dilemma  Any advice/suggestions much appreciated Thanks! 3x Squeezebox Touch, 3x Squeezebox Radio, SqueezeCommander, Material Skin Apk, Squeezelite-X, Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 with Material Skin Jaca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112672 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Walk with me
Hi Michael, Just wondering if it would be possible to tweak/improve "Music, Walk with me" a bit please? It seems that whenever queue is transferred from sync'ed player ( both by grab or transfer options) original sync is changed/broken. It is particularly painful when previously sync players are in one room (2 SB Radios in stereo pair).. One of them is stopped but other is still playing and now synced with transfer destination. I have noticed that when testing "Material Skin - Move queue to another player" feature which is apparently based on "Music, Walk with me" code. Both indeed work in same way. I have suggested here https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109624-Announce-Material-Skin=981009=1#post981009 adding extra steps to remember source sync before transfer and restoring it after. I guess same behavior which is present with "Group Players" plugin which gives option to restore previous sync when dismantling Group. Hope that makes sense and its possible. After fiddling about with it and reading help section on LMS web interface.. I'm able to turn on music (press play remotely) at certain time! It's only simple 'play' at the moment which send command to current player but it's a start. I got to spend some time to choose players and sync them plus choose favorite station before sending play command, but I can see it is certainly possible. Brilliant.. I'm generally impressed with tasker and possibilities it gives! Already have few ideas for mini apps for other purposes.. awesome.. ohh btw you wouldn't know if variables used in tasker are also compliled to .apk, or are those only variables working within tasker? I also like confirmation to 'exit' in SqueezeCommander regardless whether it is Android thing or not.. After all I believe systems should work as users expect not how developers think is best.. it might be just me O_o, Just from other topic... As my radio alarm driving me sometimes crazy (with it's backup alarm) I was wondering if it would be possible to use Orange Squeeze to turn on players on time basis. Since app sits in background all the time anyway I can imagine it's smth which could be done... I'm not bother about snooze option - in fact I dont need it.. All I'm after is to have my Radio's start playing my favorite internet radio. I got other alarm clocks (phone for example) which are set up to go off later anyway... I just would like to spend 10-15min in bed gently waking up with music - then my 'wake up from bed' alarm goes.. and I can continue listen music while getting ready for a day... Could it be also possible to let say sync players on time bassis?.. so if my bedroom and kitchen radios are unsync in the evening, both could be automatically synced in a morning before Orange Squeeze turn them on.. Apologies if this was mentioned before, I'm quite new here and still catching up with older posts.. Re: [slim] Browsing large folders via 'Music folder' is slow
garym wrote: Don't use it myself but I see plenty of reports of happy users of multilibrary plugin. Regarding folders vs tags. LMS is designed to work with tags. Folders is not really meant to be the main approach to finding music to play. And just because one uses tags doesn't mean you can't also have a very useful, logical file structure. I have about 70,000 tracks. They are organized by; /Artist/Album/tracks So I can find anything by directory/subdirectory if I choose to. But all have good tags. And if your directory structure is good, one can use something like mp3tag to automatically create tags from the info contained in the file name or the directory and subdirectory location of the files themselves. mp3tag has a very good mapping function to do this in a batch way. (and mp3tag works with other than only mp3 files). Bottom line: for other than very small collections, browsing by folder is not going to be a good experience for LMS users. I also keep same file structure .../Artist/Album/tracks but I wasn't aware I can use mp3tag to get tags from it. Thanks for that! never really digged mp3tag... will definitely spend more time to try know it better.. Probably will get round multi library plugin as well to see if it would work for me... ohh Not sure why I haven't done it yet, but sometimes Im just affraid that after messing about I will 'loose' existing working configuration and would have to spend hours to get it back to state where it was in first place O_O... I'm not trying to be funny, sorry :) The built-in alarm functionality (conveniently hidden from within Orange Squeeze) should work for you. It's part of my plan to get everyone to buy each of the Android apps that control Squeezeboxes. Do you mean such alarm already does exists within OS? Sorry had busy day, not sure if I follow you right. :/ Truthfully, this behavior would be better handled on the server, but that said, Orange Squeeze exposes a protected service on your phone that you could use to script behavior like this. It would be a manual process and you'd have to learn about the CLI interface and use an app like Tasker to actually handle the automation. I need to put a page together discussing the possibilities. If you are interested, start a new thread and we can discuss it there (PM me so I know where it is, I might miss it). That's deep waters for me.. well, I don't mind trying smth new but I had in mind smth within OS again.. Correct me if I'm wrong but the way I see it is: - You can send command to synchronize players form OS, right? - You can send command to play selected music, right? However both things need to be done manually by physically pressing buttons (touching screen I mean :) ) All whats needed is sort of simulation of 2 above plus timer which check time every 60s. Think of it as macro which would be executed when when timer equals specified time... TBH I got no clue about programming Android, I'm just trying to get analogy from what I could do with application written for Windows. No idea if this kind of thinking could be applied in real world? Yes I'm aware about build in alarm on server which could be configured by players/apps/web interface.. I'm actually trying to bypass that cos it's not working properly/ the way I would like it to work... I'm in unfortunate group of people who gets 'nasty funky bass' backup alarm instead of selected radio station I just prefer radio rather then local music as an alarm Also, like I said I don't really need snooze option/blocking screen of my radios and I would prefer switch off music myself (listen more then hour - which is the case with std alarm) Right, both of those commands could be done on a schedule through a variety of techniques. The simplest would be to use the Command Line Interface of the server (see above). There are a lot of resources about this, google Squeezebox CLI for lots of info. To use something like OS is a bit more complicated than it really would need to be, but if you are trying to do it all through just an Android device then it certainly is an option. You'd still need to delve deep into the Squeezebox CLI syntax, however. Check out the Tasker app (or various clones), which lets you do all sorts of fancy things, scripted on an Android device. Thank you for extra quick replay! awesome! :) db122 wrote: Explain why you're doing this on a regular basis, and I might consider spending time on implementing that (priorities, right?) but I think most people alternate between SN and their local server exclusively. Basically I use: 1. LMS on my NAS as my main MUSIC library/collection of FLAC's and MP3's 2. LSM Lite (I think its called) on USB plugged to one of my touches as secondary library Mainly used for educational music materials like - play-along's/lessons for bass/drums/piano/etc and other audio which is not really suitable for main music library and generally only used in music room. However I also use music room touch with main library for purely listening purposes eg. if she wants to listen smth else on main setup. :) I was able to jump servers using SqueezeCommander, but I can see now its rather obscure option.. I guess priority-wise it goes right down to bottom of your list ( if not straight to bin ;) ) I believe my setup might be interesting for people who want separate libraries: husband/wife/kids etc, in which case this feature would be required.. 32GB USB stick and LSM Lite seems to be working quite well in my setup... I know its advisable to only connect up to 3 players to LSM Lite, but in my case that's not a problem.. hmm. Perhaps you know better ways of creating multi library/server system? Anyway it's not massive problem to use SqueezeCommander when required and Orange Squeeze for everything else. Just it would be nice to have everything covered in one app. Once again thanks for your work, great stuff! Cheers!
