I'm not proposing that the United Nations to take over.

Which is exactly what is going to happen.

What I'm proposing is that the rest of the world countries join the American
Union of States.

Joining bankruptcy, you must be joking !

salyavin, I too can't believe teasification isn't a real and or proper word. It
should be both IMHO. And maybe it will be if our NSA buddies are tracking this
tread. Anyway, I'm so glad you love crop circles but only in asterisks. And is
there a scientific reason for thinking the Space Brothers wouldn't have their
own websites?! One would logically think that if they can hurtle themselves
through space to get here, they could set up a little website, etc. I'm just
sayin.

BTW, thank you too for all the cool info about the old fashioned typewriters
and why the letters were arranged in the qwerty order, to keep the keys from
getting jammed.  Love learning new stuff (-:

Last but not least I gotta ask what you think about the research just posted by
Susan. Good design for a scientific study?

Hey, I **love** crop circles! I just seriously doubt they are made
by the Space Brothers. Especially when the people who do build
them have their own website.

I think you need self awareness before you can do irony.

Nice article, Susan, thanks for posting. I especially like the bit about field
independence though that's not what the reporter called it. The fact that the
meditators didn't get entrained into the behavior of the other sitters in the
room.

noozguru, I think I remember when all that happened with the tracking of the
post amounts, many thanks. My theory is if I even read about such, slowly but
surely the knowledge will seep into my brain. Like I read the posts about touch
typewriters and tech writing even though I don't know a lot of the terms, etc.
Maybe it initially awakens certain portions of the brain, something like that.
One hopes.

I like how you used the word unsustainable with relation to US standard of
living. It'll be interesting to see how it moderates. Are you familiar with
stories of people choosing to live simply? Or in really small abodes? Something
to offset all that imbalance. And I'm guilty of it too. When I look around at
how much stuff I've accumulated, I'm horrified. And I'm only one person!

As for the American Dream, I'm glad that 51% of people have woken up from it.
Now hopefully people can wake up from other myths, such as US productivity!

I'd love to know what the jyotish was yesterday afternoon: I got a call
allegedly from *Windows Tech Maintenance Department.* He wanted me to press
Windows flag key along with r key. That made me nervous. I told the poor fellow
that I had identity theft last year so am very cautious. In a very Asian accent
he told me his name is Kevin Smith and I couldn't help but laugh. I finally got
him laughing too, hopefully at the absurdity of the situation. He shared his
real name, Samir. Anyway, I had to go to Dome so we rescheduled without doing
anything. Someone recommended googling his phone number so I did and voila!
SCAM!

Funny old world if you ask me!

When posting limits were first introduced and I think they were daily
then I started responding to multiple posts in one as a sort of protest
because I thought posting limits were ridiculous and a sign of the
immaturity of the group. As you well know Alex doesn't like the posting
limits because that is one more thing to deal with and I don't think
Rick cares much for them either but the majority wanted a nanny state.
The only real problem was that some folks were using FFL like it was
Twitter.

When it went to a weekly count then people couldn't keep track of how
many they posted. I wrote a C program to count posts and then converted
it to run on PHP so it could run on a server. After running it a few
weeks decided it might be wise to see if anyone had a server they might
run even if out of town because I didn't want to do that. So Alex
stepped and had a lot of fun implementing it. ;-)

Apparently there are no TM Teachers in good standing
that post to FFL, which figures. But, that makes it
difficult to find out what's happening up there inside
the TMO.

So far, we know that Alex has a brother who is a Raja.
Lawson visited Fairfield once, MJ said he was there in
a pod in the eighties. Sometimes I hear things at the
pool at Radiance, the TM Ideal Village in Austin.

Go figure.

So why did the US fall down in the 1860s and 1930s if it has such as
"strong chart?" Remember the US is an amalgamation of states so it's a
little difficult to get an idea of what is happening with one single
horoscope. Which is why most astrologers debate over what is the "real"
US horoscope. It's not like India where the jyotishees got the Brits to
hand the country over at an auspicious time.

The US standard of living is unsustainable. it will have to collapse
but maybe just back to 1970 levels. That wasn't so bad. And why
shouldn't folks in emerging nations have a good life too? Are Americans
special or something? Now those folks can look at our standard of
living too because of the Internet. BTW, many of those folks joke about
 Americans being so fat.

You should test your astrology by tracking logical outcomes. Just look
at the road the country is going down and make a prediction on that and
see how astrology stands up to it. You might even find that pattern in
 the horoscope.

But here is an article about the American Dream. Note that over 51%
voted that the "American Dream" is no longer realistic.

[FairfieldLife] Cruising for Burghers

2013-07-06 Thread turquoiseb
For those of you who don't know Dutch, a burgher is not a slab of heated
cow on a bun, but a "citizen," a resident of the city. But on the first
really sunny and warm weekend of the year, the citizens here definitely
go out cruising.

But not in cars...in boats.

In many European cities, you kinda have to be rich to have a boat and
keep it in the city. The mooring costs are as high as the rents. So in
Paris on a day like this, most people take to the parks or to their
rooftops or hop on a train and go to the countryside.

In Leiden, you don't have to be rich to have a boat. You can be
comfortably middle class and have a boat, and many families do. Leiden
is, after all, built on an enormous network of canals, so half of the
homes and apartments in this city are "on the water." Mooring fees are
reasonable, especially if you own a place that is on the canal where you
want to tie up your boat.

Most of the year the boats just sit there, but on a day like today the
families who own them pile into the boats and head out for a cruise.
*Whole* families -- parents, grandparents, kids, grandkids, dogs --
climb into the boats and spend the day cruising the canals of their
cities.

Some are in shorts and T-shirts, others in bathing suits. You can see
the Dutch folks in bathing suits coming up the canal almost before you
can see the boats they are in. Their white skin -- deprived of the touch
of sunlight since the last day this nice, in September of last year --
pick up the sunlight and reflect it like the near-fluorescent white skin
of some bottom-dwelling fish. There are going to be some *serious* cases
of sunburn in Leiden tomorrow. :-)

But here and now, all of them seem to be having a shitload of fun
enjoying here and now. Good for them.

"Live simply so others may simply live?" The paradigm is now "live
simply so you can simply live." I argued that about 10 years ago on
Thom Hartmann's forum then wondered WTF when he read my post on the air
and disagreed with it. Apparently Thom thinks Americans are superior to
the rest of the world and deserves to live better. Some liberal, eh?

It was too hot this last week to work on more house cleaning but it is
cooler now so I'll get rid of more junk. It was good to have the refuse
company pickup the extra stuff a couple weeks back. I should have put
more out.

You should have really messed with his head by taking over the
conversation and scamming him. Believe me, Microsoft won't call you,
neither will Google nor Apple or Yahoo for that matter. I have some
MP3's I've made that I play on the phone when one of these telemarketing
companies call that make it sound like their system has gone on the
fritz. Or you can make it sound like they hit a fax line. Good site

I also have a high pitched whistle to blow into the phone.

You are seriously mal-informed.

To understand Gaudapada vs Nagarjuna and Yogachara, there is no better
place to look than this explanatory text:

The Method of Early Adaita Vedânta

by Michael Comans.

You can preview it on Google Books by going to the section on page 98
entitled: Gaudapâda and Yogâcâra.

And don't reply back with that old b.s. - *maybe so … but*.

Read it and weep.

Nabs,

The countries of Portugal, Spain, Greece and Italy are having problems with
their economies. Their governments are clueless as to how to solve their high
unemployment rates and national debts. They need a stronger world government
to take over. The European Union is apparently not helping at all.

Let's watch and find out what they do.

But maybe the Space Brothers aren't trying to communicate with us?

Perhaps crop circles are aimed at crows who will turn out to be
the true owners of the Earth. Or pigeons even... We just assume
they must be for us as we have such a mighty opinion of ourselves.

Very interesting. Bit of a small sample, but a large signal from
it. And with a form of guided meditation too, which some people
round here will tell you does nothing at all.

Would like to see a similar type of experiment with TMers, I think
when people are caught out like that when they are acting naturally
is much better than when the are in an experimental setting where
white coat syndrome sets in and people start behaving - consciously
or not - how they think the doctors would want them to behave.

As for a mechanism, I'm not sure about the "interconnectedness"
explanation as I can't see any way we actually are connected,
especially in a woo-woo way.

What I think TM has done for me is put me in touch with my deeper
feelings and opened my heart a lot, so I guess that would make one
more empathetic.

I'm certainly more aware of my surroundings and how I affect other
people and how they affect each other, in as much as these things
are self measurable anyway.

And I could give a flying fuck about the TM-Sidhis anymore either. When

Ditch or highly restrict capitalism. Small businesses only. Make for a
guaranteed national income. Capitalism is riddled with chaos and
inequity and inappropriate in a world of 7.2 billion people. It is a
system ripe for robber barons to plunder. Do you know that the people
of those countries are rioting because they can no longer afford food?
I look at the food prices in the US and wonder how it's going to until
the dummies here wake up and start partying too. I'll be there playing

Haven't you paid attention ? Already in 1989 Maharishi said; "Now that
communism is gone the next to go is capitalism". We already know what will
happen, the whole world economy will collapse.
In the inevitable chaos that will follow, only the United Nations has the
structures, organization and a forum to solve the urgent needs of all the
nations of the world.

Right, the point is to get the truth on the record.

I mean, for example, I certainly wouldn't expect you
to retract and apologize for accusing DrD of bringing
up Barry's brother's suicide when, as I pointed out in
one of those posts, it was actually Barry himself who
had done so.

But that error--blaming DrD for Barry's own behavior--
can't be allowed to stand unrefuted.

That's just the way it is in this world. Some people
care about the truth, and some don't. The former can't
force the latter to care, so they do the best they can
to ensure the truth is not obscured by those who don't
care about it.

"In a way," i.e., if you hold "what you write is about you"
equivalent to "what you write represents your world view."

But that isn't what Ann was saying, of course. Can you figure
out what else she might have meant?

Well, you certainly have picked up *something* useful
from Robin. A lot of this is straight from Robin's post
"How to Know Reality's Point of View" (granted, you
wouldn't put that way, but it proposes very similar
techniques):

I may repost the whole thing (the first post in the series,
at any rate).

sure Judy. Carry on with your truth campaign. as Curtis aptly pointed
out: for someone to constantly declare how "dedicated to truth" they
are, is not unlike the magician telling everyone repeatedly how "this is
a plain, ordinary deck" with which I am going to perform this trick.

but this is how you choose to spend your life force, so I hope is
gratifying for you.

Not if the person is in fact dedicated to truth, unlike the
magician. Curtis isn't, you aren't (as I just got done noting),
Barry obviously isn't. So it isn't at all surprising that the
three of you would be anxious to portray a truth-teller as
a deceiver, is it?

> but this is how you choose to spend your life force, so I

Not being concerned about the truth, you probably aren't
aware that there are many people who have dedicated their
lives to the truth, sometimes even *sacrificed* their
lives to the truth. Truth and truth-telling have generally
been highly regarded throughout history, something to
strive for.

http://www.ridenhour.org/prizes_truth_telling.html

(I wouldn't consider myself to come close to deserving
such a prize because my efforts have been so limited.)

But there are always those who can't see the importance of
truth, who find it inconvenient and annoying, not worth the
effort; and even those who believe truth just gets in the
way of their needs and desires and whims. And sometimes, of
course, such people are just cowards who *fear* the truth.

And how do you see yourself "spending your life force" Steve? How can you fault
anyone for caring about truth, whether you believe that particular person is
misguided or off base or not? How come you can sit there and make these mocking

Actually they don't change much from week to week, Stevie.

> And that, pretty much is how you spend your posts here.

And that what, Stevie? Your writing is pretty incoherent
tonight. I don't think you quite got what I've been saying.

But it's obvious you aren't happy about the truths I've
been telling, Stevie--you know, like the one about your
having blamed DrD for bringing up Barry's brother's
suicide when it was actually Barry who did that. And
another truth is that you've never retracted your
accusation nor apologized to DrD for it.

I'm truly sorry that it makes you so uncomfortable,
Stevie, but them's the breaks.

Ann, our Stevie believes that truth-telling is misguided, so
anyone who does it is also misguided. That's why he's bravely

Yes Judy,
Don't say a word. Pappa's going to buy you a mocking bird. And if that
mocking bird won't sing, Pappa's going to buy you a diamond ring. And if
that diamond ring turns brass, Pappa's going to buy you a looking
glass. And if that looking glass gets broke, Pappa's going to buy you a
billy goat. And if that billy goat won't pull, Pappa's going to buy you a
cart and bull. And if that cart and bull goes down, you'll still be the

Quiet your mind Judy. All's well. Get some rest, and wake up refreshed
to fight tomorrows battles. I know they're still be here for you.

Yes Judy. Of course Judy. As you wish, Judy.
Sweet dreams Judy.

Hey Steve, I've been following this back and forth, for awhile. In terms of how
you like to interact here, which I think mirrors your daily life and work,
congenial, comes to mind. You and I could probably go to lunch and not mention
TM, or any of the FFL topics, and still have plenty to yak about, and have a
good time. I enjoy not always winding everything out, too.

On the other hand, it was my business and skill for many years, to ensure
clarity and understanding regarding the design, development, and transfer of
very technical knowledge, to engineers and technicians, so that satellites,
lasers, large phone switches, and data centers, for example, didn't fuck up. As
a result, I can determine, when I want to put the effort into it, now that I
don't *have* to, whether or not someone is being illogical, exaggerating,
skewing material, has a hidden agenda, etc. Over so many years of analysis, it
becomes obvious.

Judy has a very consistent approach here. She is intent on unraveling the
writing of those who are professing to say one thing, and in fact, through the
mechanisms I referred to earlier, are saying something quite different.
Further, if someone is simply expressing something, is there integrity in the
expression?

We do not have the luxury here to evaluate someone's body language and
expressions here. It is all expressed through writing. So, the interactions
between us are sometimes less than congenial, because there is no other way to
further the thoughts expressed, sometimes, than to take exception. In everyday
interaction, a raised eyebrow, or quick joke may suffice to move a conversation
along, but here, with writing as the only tool, everything must be spelled out.

Your eyesight is better than mine. I have never seen compassion from Share.
She, instead, chooses to view me as arrogant. Are deprecating labels another
form of open-heartedness? Emily might have an opinion on this as well. (Emily,
feel free to ignore this.)

2013-07-06 Thread seventhray27
Thank you Jim.
A couple things come to mind. (as I am here at work, getting things in
order so that I can go on vacation tomorrow with a somewhat unfettered
mind)
I am not sure if I have as much invested in this site as Judy. On the
other hand, I do tend to trust my judgments, which many times are snap
judgements.
And it may be that when I take the time, to look more closely at
something, (as I did recently at Judy's prodding), such as whether Robin
was being truthful when he said he didn't strike someone, (and the
context), then it may be that I modify my position some.
But in that exact example a lot of effort was expended for a pretty
small adjustment.
I think the main complaint I hear about me is that I am too emotional in
my judgments.
Perhaps I am.
On the other hand, it is always nice to have the real world to help you
keep score on things.
I will read over what you've written and see if anything else comes to
mind.
But I just don't know if I can come around to seeing Judy in a different
light, than what I do.
I'll try to keep an open mind.
Thanks for your feedback.

Oh, so you focus your energies on business. I knew someone like that once - he
was my father.

Go along with what? Read my question again, I think you didn't understand it
for some reason. You might find we actually agree on this one.

This is what I like about you Steve. Even though it is self evident that it is
"one sided" ( it is, after all, just my viewpoint and that would make it
singular) you come across as a nice guy. (Share, was that belittling of me?)

I don't think your answer went anywhere near my question but, in a strange way,
you answered it completely, perhaps inadvertently.

Ah, the cutting jab. Well, I have no idea when you stopped or if you ever were
committed to such things but it doesn't appear as if you have considered it
much.

Steve, have a wonderful few days off. Forget about all this FFL stuff and enjoy
your family and your time away. I am sure you work very hard so take this time
to revel in the fruits of your labours. Safe travels.

Ann, you've got to be kidding. I am a householder, I have

other people. I attempt to do it well. Your dad was a business titan.
I am a business small fry, and my business is a means to an end. But I

The first interpretation is reflected well in Indian context in the eleventh
canto of Bhagavad Gita, a holy book of Hindus in a verse as said by Krishna, a
godhead of Hindus, to Arjuna inspiring him to fight the battle of Kurukshetra,
which translated into English means, "I am Time who wastes and destroys the
people; lo, I have arisen in my might, I am here to swallow up the nations.
Even without thee all they shall not be, the men of war who stand arrayed in
the opposing squadrons. Therefore do thou arise and get thee great glory,
conquer thy foes and enjoy a great and wealthy empire. For these, they were
already slain and it is I who have slain them; be the occasion only, O
Savyasachin".[3]
