RE: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update Available
I updated to the 0613 beta. I played with the while list file. I had added these 2 lines: Resource\... allow_from_disk+check_crc resource\... allow_from_disk+check_crc When I switched to the second map the server crashed just after a warning about duplicate lines. I deleted the first Resource line and the error did not occur. However, this makes me think that the white list file is not used for the first map! Re: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update
According to that statement I guess you have never runned a CS server with AMX or AMXX... SourceMod will have most of your needs ready in the default package, other mani features for download as plugins. And you will find tons of other stuff that you never will see in mani. The point is that you are not dependent on one person writing stuff into their mod. You are also not dependent on that person whenever he decides to go to a year long expedition to save the whales. SourceMod and AMXX is more community based than hardcoded pluings. Anyone can write anything to it. And if one person does not want to learn to write plugins, just pop a request in their forum and someone might write it just for fun. I have full control when using AMX (I have not yet converted to AMXX). I almost only use it as an plugin engine. I have my own sql based admin system, my own stats system. I make my servers unique. I have gone so far that I have even redefined the adminflags, so I can set them exactly the way I want them to. 90% of my plugins are unique to my servers. SourceMod seems to have gotten a bit more advanced when it goes to writing plugins than AMXX. I have not dived into it at fully yet, but it feels a little more OO, a little more of C++ vs C. But thats just for glancing over it extremely briefly a while ago. The reason mani has been so popular is not about it having all of those features, it is that he was first to release a decent admin tool and all the other serveradmins just follows. Most probably didnt even know that there where others around when they sat up their CSS server. I prefer BAT over mani any day now. And the reason is not just because I fixed a memory leak around his threading code (when running under linux). ;p /Bjorn On Sun, 10 Jun 2007, ics wrote: > But i like bonuses so much. Hello, RatMod is doing all you need in one Plugin, Kick, Ban, Slap, Burn, Weapon Restriction, Stats, Ranking, Beaming, Deathmatch, Gunmod, Zombie Infection and more... Full Admin Handling, Quake Sounds, Skins, Sounds The feature List is unlimited :) All in one Plugin! Without other Plugins! The plugin does all mani has done! There is nothing what is missed!!! Re: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update
But i like bonuses so much. Mani had all the stuff server admins could want in 1 simple pack. You didnt need to find _everything_ separately, like ingame stats, teamkiller punishments, map voting system, reserve slots, skin setting for players, soundplaying, weapon restrictions and all kinds of handy settings (see mani_server.cfg). True, most of it is a "bonus" but very usefull. You make SourceMod sound like the thing where you have freedom to do anything BUT with exception that a) you gotta know scripting and coding and b) its like matties eventscripts, pieces from there and there to pick for your needs. Tons of separate scripts/functions where mani had them all in the same pack. Bloated? Maybe. Usefull? Definitely and thats the reason why mani-admin got so popular. Re: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update
Then you will be better off with sourcemod. Since you can write your own plugin that does all that automatically at spawn. You have "full" freedom to do "anything" you want. I have been waiting for SM since the release of CS:S. And cant wait to convert all my amx plugins I use for CS to CS:S. And since SQL now is available I can start to do so. To the rest. There are options to mani. I use BAT now for basic admin stuff like kick, ban... ont top of that I have a high ping kicker plugin, one for restrictions, one against team attack and a couple of more... mani got too bloated on the way, with a lot of stuff like setting people on fire and crap. I had to disable 90% of the functionality of mani to have a plugin that did just what I wanted it to do. Admins should be able to kick, ban, be able to switch team on a player and give warnings. Anything else is just a bonus. /Bjorn On Sat, 9 Jun 2007, Ryan Veltidi wrote: > True, and that's what Mani says is the reason. RE: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update
My performance problems explained (I hope)! My startup script had been running as root and using nice -5 to run srcds_run at a higher priority than normal. On my newest system I am not running it as root so I had to make changes and learn some sudo magic. I ended up changing my script to use renice -5 and not nice -5. But there are threads and renice does not renice the threads. This seems to be causing the main process to use a lot of CPU! Even with zero players the CPU load is 60-95%. When I don't renice the process the CPU load is normal. I can even get it back to normal by doing renice 0. On my system that does not have this problem I am using: nice -n -5 screen -d -m -S css1 ./srcds_run +maxplayers 21 +map breakfloor +log on -secure -tickrate 33 +port 27015 But that changes the nice on other processes that don't need to be changed. So when I reworked my script I only renice srcds_i686. It seemed better to only renice srcds_i686. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/BigFS/css1$ sudo renice -5 8363 8363: old priority 0, new priority -5 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/BigFS/css1$ ps -elyL|grep i686 S UID PID PPID LWP C PRI NI RSSSZ WCHAN TTY TIME CMD R 1000 8363 8352 8363 0 76 -5 69044 37611 - pts/200:02:05 srcds_i686 S 1000 8363 8352 8364 0 79 0 69044 37611 futex_ pts/200:00:00 srcds_i686 S 1000 8363 8352 8367 2 75 0 69044 37611 futex_ pts/200:05:27 srcds_i686 Oh, this renice -5 problem does not exist with the pre-beta. Re: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update
The only thing that I did not like about Mani was that it would always tell the server whenever I used an admin command. I never understood why player X has to know that I slapped/slayed player Y. If this was an option (or editable source!) in SourceMod, I would certainly switch right away. Currently there are no good replacements for mani-admin and if it indeed goes bonkers, 18189 public servers need to find a replacement for it. (addon-stats here http://www.sourcemod.net/stats.php) and Sourcemod really isnt an option because it doesnt have any admin-functions. Or if it does, that stuff is well hidden somewhere without any documentation or instructions how the stuff really works so before any of you start saying how great sourcemod really is, hold back untill you see some real content running on/in it so people can actually use it. for example, more documentation and detailed information about cvars etc would be nice to see. Also this thread is worth a look... http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=566697 There was some line on beta updates about plugin backwards compatibility so maybe Valve has actually this time prevented mani-admin from breaking down and they dont change core functions so it wont break. No, you are looking at top wrong! I only have 1 CPU and no HT. Anyway, what's wrong with HT? Works great with winblows. But never used it with Linux. Ok, back to the 38.3%. Cpu(s): 38.3%us, 49.9%sy, 0.0%ni, 11.9%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st 38.3 is total user time. 49.9 is total system time. 11.9 is total idle time. So, given the above, the system is 88.1% used. 6264 guy 15 0 147m 66m 13m R 87.1 27.4 12:27.99 srcds_i686 As you can see, srcds_i686 is using 87.1% of the system leaving 1% used by whatever else needed it. Hi Alfred, Thanks for clearing this out, so we'll have a check now how it works, if you don't mind I will post a result here. If we have still the fps drops on debian sarge servers, I hope your team will still find the time to try to fix it. RE: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update
You need to turn on "sv_pure_kick_clients 1" if you want to kick clients right now. When we do the full release that will be the default setting. - Alfred Jani Tiira wrote: > -- > [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] > Should sv_pure work in this beta? > > http://www.pilipali.info/de_dust2.jpg > > just asking since it doesn't. Re: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update
Is this update fixing the fps bug from the 13.3.2007 update, on servers with glibc libraries prior 2.3.5? Re: [hlds_linux] Source Engine Beta Update
Hej, ingame server browser now shows: Bots: 2, Players: 0/8. but there are 10 slots on my server. and bots leave as soon as two real players connect. (i want to say: 10/10 real players possible) why does it counts "slots - bots = avaiable slots"? Leo Jason Ruymen schrieb: An update to the Source Engine/Dedicated Server beta is now available.
