[LU] Non LU iPhones
If you update ios by wifi on the device, it will leave a whopping installation file in it's trail on your device (1.2GB on an iphone 4S in my case) There may be a way to remove it, but not under Apple's current cloak and dagger / secret squirrel way of thinking and rolling out updates. Best way to update is via iTunes so that you can delete the installation file after the install is complete. My 4S started the update whiteout my instruction and I was somewhat forced to complete it (via itunes of course) IOS 7 for me is a very wishy washy pale looking affair on my 4S but does run fine with all the processor intensive pretty looks and animations turned off. Would I revert to ios 6.1.3 if I had the chance? Yes - for sure! As somebody else said in similar words IOS 7 heavily dilutes Apple's hardware high quality and is no better than tolerable Dave ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org MARCHING ON TOGETHER

Re: [LU] LU Were we good for our victory
Good teams that win on a bad day have the luxury of being a good team that had a blip. We've had a good start to the season - I'm sure nobody would disagree, but if any team is outplayed on a regular basis as we were against Ipswich for periods of that game, then the long term outlook is not good. A team playing well and losing is less of a problem than a team winning against the run of play in my book. I suppose there is the psychological advantage of winning that strengthens team core and self belief, but with the risk of missing the reality of what's really happening. In the end though, when it all averages out, teams that are outplayed on a regular basis, lose games. Perhaps we're working towards that good team tag so we can afford a bad day victory in the knowledge that we'll be back to normal for the next game. Quite a simple thought process really! Not so much football more life I suppose One man's poison is another man's medicine. If every team has to carry a luxury donkey, then Rudy must be ours (captaincy and all) I used to get the same feeling when Carlton Palmer was on the ball or challenging somebody, but there was a comedy element with his playing style that made it vaguely entertaining if not unpredictable. I don't see this in Austin - he's predictably and consistently a poor passer and a conceder of free kicks. He will have better matches I'm sure from time to time and I'll be the first to congratulate him if and when he turns the corner. In the meantime though, he'll cost us. Yes, of course you're right, I suppose we have to accept them as World and European Champions. I'm just so against the way they did it, the world having to accept their same old same old dull routine. Re: [LU] NON LU: Spain Brazil
I see your point, but you are comparing a current day 2nd tier English club with the World Champions. Well done to Spain and Barcelona for their respective triumphs, but they have created a bland rigid style with no option to change and presumably no intention of ever trying to. (Whilst Pat Nevin's observations were interesting, it doesn't change the fact that it's boring.) This was clearly shown when they were losing 3-0 to Brazil the other night and a change of tempo / style was needed and they weren't able to. A lot of managers say that they concentrate on what their own team does and not worry so much about the oppo. I believe this idea to have faults. It's the team that can adapt best to what the opposition is doing that bosses the game. Spain could not adapt to what Brazil were throwing at them and just continued as they were and went on to concede more goals. I don't consider myself audacious one bit, but the Spanish way which has worked for them for so long is being replaced by a multi paced / styled system as shown by the likes of Brazil and Bayern. And the big point - it's great to watch! One or two players with 10% of the likes of Iniesta's quality would be dragged down by the other donkeys in the team. Think big, we need a bunch of them. I wouldn't sell my soul though to finance or achieve this. Managers have this unique attribute by where they perform badly and then are welcomed with open arms by another club. In the normal world of work, bad performers receive a bad reputation and can't find employment - not in football management. This may be because that there isn't that many of them available or because of a badly performing squad, which is not the managers fault of course - is it?? I disagree. Winning habits breed confidence and more wins. Just as a drawing and losing habit drags a team down, like us. Even if Forest's push is short lived, it may get them promoted even for one season and would up their bank balance and may attract classier players. Whoever ends up buying our currently sorry establishment has GOT to make substantial funds available to purchase carefully selected players by a carefully selected manager. I don't think Warnock is that manager. It's no good saying that players aren't available Oh yes they are if the money is right. Perhaps not to the Peter R's limit though. I reckon that combination would go a long way to help us move on. Two critical components, one no good without the other! Sadly, we'd have to clear out all the dead wood and virtually start again. All rather pie in the sky, I know, but if we're serious about this (are we?) then something along those lines is what's got to happen. I see Warnock saying that until it's mathematically impossible to achieve promotion, we have a chance. Wrong! we don't. Re: [LU] Becchio speaks
I have little against Becchio. He was a striker paid to score goals - he did - lots of them! Albeit from a yard or two, that makes no difference given the limited supply and support. He was flexible and adaptable enough to see his place in the team setup and did us proud. There does appear to be a well trodden transfer path between us and Norwich - we've turned into a player supply line for a top flight team, I find this mildly humiliating, but then we are no longer a big club so in some ways it's fair pickings. It's a lottery. managers (and some players) do well at one club and then fail at another with no rhyme nor reason. Hopelessly unpredictable with form guide the only thing to base appointments on. Mildly entertaining for a moment but he should have laid off. Part of his job is to face the press and media, hopefully graciously. He can't get beyond his hatred of media speculation over transfers. It's always happened and will continue, it's what the press and media do! He could laugh it off and speak in clichés as all the rest do. Talking to anyone regarding any aspect of football is usually boring and uncovers very little with the exception of Strachan who's post match comments were always worth a listen. Re: [LU] Slightly less abject shite than usual
Not a report, I wasn't there, just an opinion. I recall reading an article a few months ago (can't remember where or by whom) taking all the Championship teams one by one. By this time we had dropped from our higher league position earlier in the season and the thinking was that this was no great surprise as many of our games had been on a knife edge and a single goal decided it. Nothing really wrong with that except that we sail so close to the wind all the time and can't really look back at games we've won with style. I would so much prefer to be drawing or even losing games having played well as this usually shows a great future. As the clichés say If you keep doing the right things it will eventually pay you back or something like that. Problem is, we don't! It's the huff and puff and long ball stuff we seem to hear about all the time. 2 wins out of 2 would normally be a good omen (and it may still be) but when a team is disjointed and lacks direction, that will also find you out. I would have taken a draw or even a home defeat if the comments from those at the game were saying we played some great stuff and nobody could quite believe how we didn't score or win - that would bode well for the future. Early reports suggest though we beat the bottom club with a hoof and hope based game. This must give rise to an even greater salute and acknowledgement to those faithful who attend to watch such depressing rubbish week in week out. And to think our reward for beating Birmingham is the prospect of a home mauling by Spurs (a la Chelsea) - will it be a full house again based on the You never know principle? Perhaps not, based on the Oh yes you do theory. A manager can shape how a team plays - does Warnock ask his defenders to whack it up there in the hope that our strikers will make something of it. He could forbid this tactic but obviously doesn't. Perhaps though he does and his posse of poor players have neither the brain, skill or presence of mind to to do anything else. Does he bollock them afterwards for this play before doing his post match interview when he makes a generic comment about it being a great game and anyone can beat anyone in this league twaddle with his rye smile. I'd like him so say something controversial for once and try and show passion rather than just a comment you'd expect from a neutral fan who had nothing better to do on the day. Looks like Warnock is not going to make his record breaking promotion this season at least. Will our new owners give him more time I wonder? Based on the muppets he's brought in so far (apart from Diouf and Kenny for example) I fear (hope) not. He would defend this saying Bates held the money back and that's all he could get at he time with the funds. Who knows the truth? For me, we've been stuck nowhere for too long and our current league position is very flattering with the inevitable, and meaningless, Spurs home defeat just round the corner. I wonder if the squad is out of the bath after today's victory or are they still all sitting there (water now tepid) contemplating in silence how rubbish you have to be to beat the bottom club by a margin of 1 goal? A real club perhaps, but not even doubling our fan base, attendances, ground capacity or turnover will make up for the fact that the poor - mediocre football side of things will maintain our Championship status. Re: [LU] Losing
Austin was shocking today (not to even mention the the own goal) He was slow, got caught in possession and gave the ball away when under no pressure. I thought when we lost him through injury that he'd be a loss. I know we all need to get back after injury, but look at Somma in comparison, he's been out for a much longer spell and he looked sharp, thoughtful and always looked like something might happen when we was involved. Thank goodness he's back. It was a poor game and Forest weren't that great, it's just that we were clueless with no bite when going forward. Our heads dropped and we were a beaten team soon after they took the lead. Forest deserved to win a poor contest. 3 goals in seven minutes conceded was appalling and it could have been 4 if not for offside. Back to earth with a bang again. League position wise we haven't suffered too badly this time. but in the big picture scheme, we have! Back to Austine's own goal - had he left it, the ball would have arrived at the feet of 3 of our defenders who would have easily cleared - Austin was obviously oblivious to this. [LU] Another humiliation
We were not disgraced, but as others have said What did you expect For all the hype and positive talk on the run up to this game, this had defeat written all over it unless we were to be blessed with the same set of attributes that graced us when we beat Man U on that memorable day a few seasons ago with the Beckford goal. Two main things struck me about this game. 1. Chelsea did a Barcelona on us in that when we had possession. they were up our arses and gave us no time to play anything more than panic hoofs. We did seem to manage to get the ball to feet a few times. Then when they got the ball, they slowed it down to build a move and we allowed them time and space to do that, just as Barcelona's opponents do. I'm no Barcelona fan by the way. but I did see a similarity. 2. We allowed them far too much time and space on the edge of our box - they were happy to shoot from there sometimes. All in all, we've had a chance to measure ourselves against the current European Champions who on the night played a strong team contrary to what I thought they'd do. We're a long way off, but there is a gulf between the divisions as we all know. If and when we do go up, we have to do it with a degree of style (a la Swansea) to have any chance of competing in the Premier League. Don't be too dis heartened, they were simply far too good for us as was always going to be the case. I've only seen the first 2 goals, but Beccio's finish was top flight. If goals like is all all he ever does for us, it's more than enough to justify his selection Dave ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate

[LU] Promotion?
Isn't it funnywe go on a three game wining run, up to tenth and we're all thinking of promotion again after seven or eight games without a win when we're all talking about relegation. This is what Warnock seemed to be saying in his post match comments today. And as for Beccio, for all his faults and shortcomings, he does seem to get a few goals. Perhaps Warnock knows something that we don't about him (can't think what that would be?) and that's why he's manager and gets the big bucks! Good for the soul though, this winning lark. This is a big worry. Whilst very respectable to lose to a team like Blackpool, it's horrible to think that we were out -everthinged in this match which by the sounds of it we should have lost by a greater margin. I'm happy to lose whilst we are trying to do the right things, but hoofing up long and hopeful balls is awful, but it does go hand in hand with being outplayed and being uncomfortable in possession whilst under pressure. [LU] LU: Snods off then?
Can't say I blame him - even if it is the well trodden path to Carrow Road, it's the Premiership and who in their right mind at the peak of their career would turn that down. He could be hanging around waiting for us to go up for years - if at all? Hope we receive a pretty penny for him, but it will probably be a hush hush undisclosed fee as usual. But he won't be wrong if a move to a Premiership club is the making of the man. [LU] New levels of indifference
I thought the England team gave all they had - their downfall was mainly that they were outplayed and outthought. Apart from some terrible passing and hoofs up the park (which is in line with a team uncomfortable with the ball and under pressure aka Leeds United) there was no more in the tank. I think it's more appropriate to be giving credit to the Italian side who prevented England playing. What is depressing is that England as a footballing nation have fallen further behind and although the Premiership is perceived as one of the best leagues, when it comes down it, England are barely in the top six globally. We're out now which is about right, we qualified from a weak group and if Italy hadn't seen us off, rest assured Germany or Spain would have. So when everyone's gutted about the exit defeat, I can't help thinking what people really expected. At least we have avoided the humiliation of a thrashing by Germany or Spain. ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate
[LU] First four fixtures....
With Wolves, Blackpool and Blackburn on the list of our first 4 fixtures of the new let's aim for avoiding relegation campaign, I'd imagine we'd be bottom 6 fodder after that lot! Ever hopeful.. Re: [LU] NON LU: cheats and olympics
That's not the same... Most able bodied people have the ability to run - some a bit faster than others. Not all able bodied people could be said to have been blessed with the skills of Messrs Beccio and Messi..ha! On the other hand, athletics / running fans might say football is boring and pointless and as Leeds fans, a lot of us might agree in the current climate at ER. Who in their right mind would pay to watch somebody do that a bit faster than say...me? It's on a par with Dave I think most footballers are only marginally better than me...for example Lucciano Beechio...opps, nevermind I'm better than him. How about Messi then?
