[mythtv-users] Commercial Flagging not working
Hello all, I've been trying to figure out why mythtv has not been commercial flagging. Per the log it looks like it starts and finishes (see below). 2006-01-12 10:00:28.823 Starting Commercial Flagging for "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" recorded from channel 1047 at Thu Jan 12 10:00:00 2006. illegal option: '-V' (use --help) 2006-01-12 10:00:29.378 Finished, 10 break(s) found. However, when I watch the program and tell it to skip the commercial, it says 'not flagged'. Here is what I have done: 1) Went through the entire setup and made sure the commcerial flagging was turned on. Which did nothing to fix the issue. 2) Deleted the Mythtv databases and started over from scratch. If it matters, I am using Fedora 3. Any idea what's going on? [mythtv-users] I can't get my HDD to spindown when idle
I'm trying to get my MythTV backend server to spindown its HDDs after a given period of time in order to save power and reduce unnecessary heat generation. My videos are stored on /dev/hdd, and it spins down fine. However, /dev/hdc only contains the /home mount and it never seems to spindown. I have set: /sbin/hdparm -S120 ... on both drives. If I use hdparm from the command-line to spindown /dev/hdc, it works fine, so I know it's not a hardware-issue. Something must be keeping the HDD active, but I don't know what it is, or how to find out. I have already moved all cron jobs/scripts to another mount, not on this drive. I am running Fedora Core 4. 1) Any ideas what is keeping my HDD spinning up? 2) Is there a linux commandline tool I can use to find out what processes have open filehandles? Specifically on /dev/hdc if possible. Thanks ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

[mythtv-users] Commonly seen bug with undocumented solution!
I've encountered this bug numerous times and sometimes it was solved erratically, by either recompiling glibc with -O3 ops, or other unknown reasons. I've also done quite a bit of searching in the past month or two and seem to have found that this bug is caused by an audio issue while using the Live TV playback. Hardware: Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 (using pvrusb2 driver http://www.isely.net/pvrusb2.html). The device streams a mpeg2 stream on /dev/v4l/video0 and is very stable. Mike also is extremely aggressive with both the development and maintaining of the pvrusb2 driver. I can easily do: $ cat /dev/v4l/video0 > test.mpg | mplayer test.mpg (test.mpg being a fifo file.) Yet, mythtv has issues with playback of this stream using the Live TV profile. I'm seeing this issue on both, my server and laptop. Both using nvidia cards. And I've recompiled mythtv with & without nvidia and opengl options including currently debug (-g). I've also recompiled libmpeg2 along with 3-4 different versions of nvidia drivers. I've also toggled all sound options within mythtv settings. (Please, when replying, omit any unneeded text such as most of the details listed below!) As I'm guessing, running into an issue with sound processing through a buffer causing video to hang after < 1 second of playback. On my laptop, Live TV will stutter erratically. I'm using a SBLive Value card using the kernel emu10k1 driver. No other issues with any other sound or video playing apps on my system. The pvrusb2 kernel logs show streaming is just fine & dandy and waiting for mythtv to stream it. How do I tell MythTV not to run this phantom 'User Job #3' (in mythfrontend or in the mythconverg database)? But somehow, "The Amazing Race: Family Edition" is Queued for User Job #3, and it never completes. All other shows recorded both before and after are transcoded and commercial flagged properly. In fact, even "The Amazing Race: Family Edition" is commercial flagged. It's just that the Job Queue shows it being Queued for User Job #3 (and no other jobs are currently running or queued). I know I posted an issue with the loopback FS to the not404.com forums, so that post might have been me. Basically, the way it is supposed to be done is as follows: 1. Download the FC4Looback.tar.bz file to a PC (preferrably a Linux machine). 2. Un-tar the file to get a set of files (About 5-6 files, totaling a little over 2 GB in size) 3. FTP those 5 files to your XBox, into the E:\debian directory; since that directory is hard-coded into the Cromwell BIOS. 4. Using your EvoX dashboard, or other application to run the E:\debian\default.xbe 5. Choose "Run XFedora4". There was a reply that I remove any old directories named E:\debian, instead of just renaming them. That was valid in my case, since I had an existing installation of Xebian 1.0.3 that I had simply renamed to E:\debian.old. I haven't tried the suggested solution yet. [mythtv-users] External CD drivers under Xebian
Sorry for posting this here, but I don't know where else to look. I have an XBox running as a MythTV remote frontend. It is running Xebian 1.0.3. The built-in XBox DVD drive is quite picky about reading CD-R media, so I installed a CD-RW drive into a USB2 5.25" enclosure. I then plugged the enclosure into my XBox through a USB-to-controller cable. I was hoping to use this setup with MythVideo, so I can watch movies on my XBox through MythVideo. The problem is that I can't find the mount point. When I look in the system log, I can see that the USB drive is detected, and it can read off the model number of my CD-RW drive, but I don't know how to mount the drive and access the files. I plugged the same setup into a Windows XP machine and into another machine running Fedora Core 3, and they see it (and mount it) without any problems. Does anyone know how to mount this thing? [mythtv-users] Returning to playback speed 1X doesn't play at 1X
I have MythTV 0.18 running on a remote frontend which is an XBox with Xebian 1.0.3. I have noticed that after I watch any program at an accelerated speed (such as 1.5X or 2X), when I return to normal playback speed (1X), the program is not quite played at 1X. It seems a little slower (maybe 0.95 or 0.9). This is based on observation only, but for example, it seems like the voices of any female-speakers are lower pitched than normal. Anyone else notice this? If I stop the recording and play another recording doesn't seem to work. Maybe reboot the machine clears it up? Does the time stretch function affect the speed at which the system clock runs in anyway? ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

I saw this with my BT card quite a while ago. The following patchseemed to fix it for me. It unmutes the card whenever a recording starts. YMMV This patch is sounds like the right solution, but I installed my MythTV from rpms using Jarod's guide. Plus, I'm not that familiar with how to patch the code, and I seem to have a workaround solution that is acceptable for now. Any idea if this patch got incorporated into the current development tree of MythTV for the 0.19 release (whenever that is)? I specify my tuners to use /dev/dsp0 and /dev/dsp1 and I control the line-in record volumes through alsamixer and alsactl. However, it's definitely not related to my soundcards, because when I plug my headphones directly into the TV tuner card, I hear nothing. Then, if I run "v4lctl volume mute off", I hear sound. [mythtv-users] How to issue command when starting a new recording?
I have this problem where (for some unknown reason), MythTV will mute my TV card's audio out periodically. This results in recordings with no audio. It's not a frontend or sound card issue. I have found it can be re-enabled by issuing a command to the v4l driver, namely, "v4lctl volume mute off". I tried putting this command into a cron job, but the problem is that everytime it's run, it causes a 1/2 second blank out of the audio. I then tried putting it into the "external command" for changing channels tuner, but the problem is that when that happens, Myth doesn't change the channels properly anymore because it thinks my unmute-volume script is doing the job. Is there some way that I could get MythTV to run my script when starting a recording? Or how can I poll the MythTV tuner status? Since that info is not stored in mythconverg, I was thinking of polling and parsing the last 1000 or so lines from the mythbackend log file every minute. Bad form to reply to my own message, but for anyone else who seems to encounter this problem: There is a program that comes with xawtv-3.xx called v4lctl where you can manaully unmute the TV tuner card's volume control with the following command: v4lctl volume mute off I just put it into a cron job to run every 5 minutes. Unforunately, it has a habit of making the audio drop out for 0.5 sec in the recordings, so I didn't want to run it any more frequently than that. I'm looking for a way to run it everytime MythTV starts a new recording. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
[mythtv-users] MythTV muting volume, but TVTime fixes it.
I have a Celeron D 2.93 master backend with a ATI TV Wonder PCI (attached to the onboard motherboard soundcard) and Hauppauge WinTV GO-Plus (attached to a SoundBlaster Live Value). Both are bt8x8 cards. I was previously running Fedora Core 3 and MythTV 0.18.1 without any audio problems, but I needed to reinstall the OS so I upgraded to Fedora Core 4. I have no volume when I watch LiveTV or recordings from the ATI card. The WinTV card works fine. I have a patch cable from the ATI's line-out to the soundcard's line-in and headphones attached to the speaker-out of the soundcard. I hear nothing. The strange thing is that if I run TVTime, audio works fine. Then, if I shut-down TVTime and immediately go into MythTV LiveTV (on a remote frontend), I can hear the channel and switch channels no problem. But inevitably, after exiting to the menu and going back into LiveTV, the volume mysteriously gets muted. At that point, I plug my headphones directly into the ATI's line-out and also now hear nothing. Start up TVTime again, and I can hear audio. The whole time, anything recorded/Live TV from the WinTV works fine with audio, so I know I don't have a problem on the frontend side of things. Is possible that something to do with the msp3400 driver in FC4 is screwing things up? [mythtv-users] Comm flagging on multiple tuners
I am using MythTV-0.18.1 on a master backend that contains 2 bt8x8-based tuners. When one tuner is recording, everything works fine, commercials are flagged properly, skipping around is good, and there are no stutters in the recording. However when both tuners are recording different programs, commercial flagging and jumpping never seems to work properly. For example, commercials are flagged in the wrong spot, and if I skip ahead to the next commercial break, it sometimes goes backwards. If a commerical break point was just passed, it jumps back to that same point, if you were to press jump to next commercial repeatedly. Same thing occurs when I use the skip ahead 30 sec (right arrow). It's almost like the time-index is off. There are visual and audio stutters in the recordings, but I can live with those. Could the increased amount of data flooding the PCI be the issue? The backend contains a 2.93 GHz Celeron running at 133 MHz bus speed, and the IRQs are assigned like this (can't control IRQ assignment in the BIOS tho): CPU0 0: 129688726 XT-PIC timer 1: 350 XT-PIC i8042 2: 0 XT-PIC cascade 5: 4523087 XT-PIC VIA8237, ehci_hcd 8: 1 XT-PIC rtc 10: 12898909 XT-PIC bttv0, bt878, uhci_hcd, uhci_hcd, eth0 11: 1149505 XT-PIC EMU10K1, uhci_hcd, uhci_hcd 12: 777376 XT-PIC bttv1, bt878 14: 1753778 XT-PIC ide0 15: 652510 XT-PIC ide1 However, I do see messages like this in my system log when the two tuners are recording: Sep 25 18:07:48 linux kernel: bttv1: SCERR @ 1eb80014,bits: VSYNC HSYNC OFLOW FBUS SCERR* Sep 25 18:07:48 linux kernel: bttv1: timeout: drop=51 irq=469735/469735, risc=1eb8001c, bits: VSYNC HSYNC OFLOW FBUS Sep 25 18:07:48 linux kernel: bttv1: reset, reinitialize Sep 25 18:07:48 linux kernel: bttv1: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363). There was a shortage of XBoxes this past Christmas; and some claimed that it was due to Microsoft shifting production to the next generation XBox 360. Others have gone as far as to say this is why we are still seeing v1.4s and v1.5s, because they're being produced in plants that were previously shifted to XBox 360 production before the v1.6 designs were out. This is all rumour and probably not true though. People have started seeing a fourth DVD drive type appear (an LG) this year, so it's possible that changes are still being made to the XBox design. The previous DVD drives uses were the Thompson, Phillips and Samsung. > > OK, I wanted to use Gentoo but I'll check Xebian out. I chose Xebian mainly because all the MythTV frontend install scripts on the old XBox-MythTV site were based on Xebian 1.0.3. Probably a stupid reason, but I needed something that worked more than I needed the lastest and greatest distro. Unforunately, I think development in Xebian is discontinued now. Once I got Xebian installed, I did everything via SSH. 2) There are no Microsoft keyboards or mice *for the XBox*. However, in order to control MythTV, you will need a DVD Remote. I had a third party XBox DVD remote which I could not get to work; so I ended up buying the offical Microsoft DVD Dongle kit. 3) The 4 controller ports on the front of the XBox are actually just standard USB 1.1 ports with a different shaped connector and an extra wire. You can find many sites on the 'net that have instructions on how to wire your own USB to XBox cable (or buy one). > In the end it might be nice to do no keyboard at the TV and just turn > on MythTV remotely from some other PC in the house. If you mess things up badly, you can download an ISO called "Slayers EvoX Auto-Installer", burn it to a CD-RW and then insert it into your XBox, it takes about 15 minutes to restore the XBox back to its factory state. From there, you can either use it as a normal XBox or go the hardware mod method. > If so then is the software only mod that you're done the one discussed > on http://www.xbox-linux.org ? > Unforunately, the xbox-linux.org website is out-of-date, as it only lists the MechAssult exploit and states that the XBox v1.6 cannot be soft-modded. (no mod chip?) > The first softmod I did was tricky because there are so many versions of the XBox (1.0 through 1.6) and various methods and installers that can be used. Compounding all of this was the facts that the documentation out there ranges wildly in terms of dates and that makes it even more confusing. But once you've done the softmod on one XBox, it gets much less intimidating from there. The thing I like about a softmod is that you can always revert back to an unmodified state without having to worry about damaging anything inside the XBox. Even if you go wrong, there are tools that will restore the HDD to a factory state. However, softmods probably do take longer to apply than using a chip. I've never soldered a chip myself. I've managed to get through the Xebian install and the MythTV installation in fairly short order... and my XBox can still be used to play XBox games too (except for the XBox-live part). ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

[mythtv-users] OT: Power off monitor on X login screen
This is a bit of a tricky problem; and hard to search for. I have a slave backend running the standard Fedora Core 3 install. It shares an LCD monitor with an XBox (D-Sub). The backend is hooked up via DVI. The LCD monitor is a BenQ monitor that auto-detects the signal and switches to the input to DVI or D-Sub depending on which one is sending a signal. Frequently, I will turn on the backend end/DVI just so that its recorder is available while I play XBox. Thus, the screen is displaying the Fedora/X login screen. After a few minute, the screen saver kicks in, but it only blanks the screen and doesn't turn the monitor off. Now, I manually switch back to the XBox (D-Sub) and play for a little bit. But the when the XBox is reset (or switches video modes), it usually blanks the screen and then the LCD monitor reverts back to the DVI input. Unforunately, almost all of the time I want the LCD to stay on the D-Sub/XBox. How do I get Fedora Core 3's X login screen to send no signal to the monitor? It's gotta be one of the power saving features; but I tried setting the power manangement/screen saver properties for the 'root' Desktop account via the control center, but I don't think those are the settings that apply to the login screen. [mythtv-users] PVR-250 and closed captions
I'm uncertain what is the status of closed captioning with a PVR-250 in MythTV. I know this question has been asked many times before, but there's been a new versions of both MythTV and the IVTV drivers, and I'm wondering if things have changed... I remember there was a patch for the IVTV driver what enabled to it to embed VBI/CC data into the MPEG2 file, but then I read that MythTV (0.16 at the time, I think) didn't support reading it. Presumably, this patch has been incorporated into the IVTV-0.2 series of drivers, but did MythTV under go any kind of revision in 0.17 to read the embedded VBI data? Or maybe I'm totally incorrect in my interpretation of various mailing-list messages... [mythtv-users] Setting brightness and contrast by card
I have a master backend running 0.16 with a ATI TV Wonder PCI card in it (bt8x8). I have noticed that when it records TV shows, the colours are washed out and the blacks aren't truly black. I have read the previous posts about adjusting the brightness settings through the OSD in the frontend; and also changing the settings on a per-channel basis through MythWeb. The problem is that I have a slave backend with a PVR-250 and it's recordings are perfectly fine; so I don't want to change the settings for it. Is there a way for me to adjust the brightness/contrast settings for the bt8x8 card only? I tried to search through the list, but it seems like the most recent postings on this are quite old (possibly relating to significantly earlier versions of MythTV). [mythtv-users] Redefining the shutdown commands
I'm running Mythtv 0.16 frontend on an XBox (but I figure the answer to this question probably to non-XBox frontends too). I use my XBox as a gaming platform as well as a MythTV frontend; so when the XBox is first powered up, it boots into the EvolutionX dashboard. Users can then select a "Watch TV with MythTV" option to boot into Xebian 1.0.3 which auto-loads mythfrontend. Once the user is finished watching MythTV on mythfrontend, they usually want to do one of two actions: Action #1) Shutdown the XBox. Action #2) Reboot the XBox back to EvoX to play games. Currently, when you hit ESC from the main menu of the mythfrontend, you get 3 choices: Option A) No, cancel shutdown Option B) Yes, exit MythTV Option C) Yes, exit and shutdown. By default, option C will go to action #1. I redefined the shutdown command within the mythfrontend general options to send option C to action #2. In general action #1 really isn't that useful to me; in my case, there isn't much the users can or would want to do with an X desktop. I would prefer to have option C map to action #1 (as default) and option B map to action #2. Is there anyway I can redefine the "Yes, exit MythTV" option to run a command? Or it might even be as simple as rmmod'ing the msp3400 (you didn't specify if you did that or not). However, I'd be interesting to take a peek at the XBox script. The thing is that if you are watching a recording on the XBox, and the backend dies, under your scheme, it would seem that the XBox would mysteriously reboot itself. Put if you play the .nuv video files through an NFS mount, I think the frontend can continue to play the file without an active backend. So it would unnecessarily cause the XBox to reboot. It's interesting to see that the simple answer I was hoping for was that someone had a way to click that stupid "OK" button, when the XBox frontend reports that the connection to the master backend has been lost. But maybe there is no way? Shouldn't hitting ENTER on the keyboard do the trick? And isn't the SELECT button on the XBox DVD remote assigned to ENTER? Why doesn't that work? ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
[mythtv-users] What to do on XBox when the backend crashes
Hey all, I'm got my MythTV 0.16 running on a headless remote backend. One of the frontend machines in my setup is an XBox (v1.4) running Xebian 1.0.3. The problem I have is when the backend crashes or goes away. Eventually, I get the dreaded pop-up window (on the XBox) that the "Connection to the backend server has been lost... is the backend running..." or something to that effect. At this point the only option displayed on screen is to press "OK". On a normal computer, you can usually hit the ENTER or SPACE key to get rid of that box. However, on my XBox I can't click on it. I hit every button on my XBox DVD Remote but I can't dismiss that box. And since I don't have a keyboard hooked up, the only thing I can do is to hard power-off my XBox (or SSH into the XBox and issue a shutdown -r now). I bought my PVR-250 and installed it in a dedicated backend machine. As a result, I didn't need to hook up the remote that came with it. [mythtv-users] Crash with Live TV (PVR-250MCE)
Let me give you a little info: OS: Fedora Core 3 (all packages up to date) Tuner: PVR-250-MCE MythVersion: 0.17 I followed Jarod's guide while setting up my current backend server. I was previously using KnopMyth with the same hardware, and after a tweak to ivtv, the tuner was working wonderfully. I was under the impression that the latest ivtv had built in support for this tuner, but I am having some issues. I have not installed LIRC, as I don't need it on this computer (its a backend only). MythTV itself is working just fine, until you try to view Live TV (it did however Record a show this evening, although not on the proper channel, and not with sound, but thats for a later time). Live TV will actually start for about 2 seconds, then it hangs. When I launch it from a terminal I get all sorts of error output (see below). After hanging for maybe 30 seconds, I get dropped to the Program Guide. Then the frontend crashes. This happens when running the frontend on the backend server or from a remote frontend. The backend however, stays up and running. The tuner does not lock up, I can repeat this over and over without having to unload any drivers or reboot. The other thing I have noticed is that the color from the video feeds is horribly wrong now, everyones skin is purple. This: # /usr/lib/ivtv/ptune-ui.pl & # mplayer -vo xv /dev/video0 Works just fine. Although the color is horrible as mentioned above. Re: RE: [mythtv-users] WinTV Go 2 sound issues...
Hello Peter I had my rounds with what I think is the same card, and let me tell you that in the end I gave up and bought another card. Anyway, I do remember that the driver's author say the sound is still in progress. Also, I don't know why, I could get sound in tvtime IF I chose mono and did some magic with the alsa controls, muting some channels that I would think they should be unmuted. I never got the card to work well with mythtv, sorry about that. Sorry that I can't help much more. Hi all, I'm setting up MythTV 0.16 on a friend's box. It has a recent WinTV Go card with a Conexant chip so I'm using the cx8800 kernel module. After fiddling a bit with the hue and color settings I got video playback and recording just fine. I wish I could say the same about audio... This card has a audio line-out. For use in MythTV this line-out is connected to the line-in of the onboard sound card. I'm also using tvtime to test the drivers. When using tvtime I connect the line-out of the WinTV Go card directly to the amplifier of my sound system. I've tried both the cx8800 v4l driver with kernel 2.6.9 and the snapshot from http://dl.bytesex.org/cvs-snapshots/video4linux-20041217-141849.tar.g z. Here are my experiences: - tvtime (non-buffered playback) works perfect with both the 2.6.9 drivers and latest snapshot V4L drivers. Line-out of the WinTV Go card is connected directly to my sound system. - mythtv with kernel 2.6.9 V4L drivers: I can't get any sound out of this. I can change channels, playback and record video, but without audio. - mythtv with V4L snapshot drivers:The same as with kernel 2.6.9 drivers, except that with these drivers a radio device is now also detected while loading the drivers. When I'm doing TV playback on mythtv (without sound), and I do a 'cat /dev/v4l/radio0', the tuned frequency of the card changes, mythtv playback switches to static, and i _do_ get static out of the speakers all of a sudden. Note that in this case the line-out of the WinTV Go card is connected to the line-in of the sound card. When I now change the channel in mythtv, I get normal tv playback _with_ audio. Video and audio are perfectly in sync. I can change channels and audio keeps on working. If I now press the 'r' key on the keyboard to record the live stream audio get's turned off again. I'm watching the tv stream without sound. Also if I exit live playback and play back the recording stream from the media library, I see that no sound is being recorded. If I do 'cat /dev/v4l/radio0' again, I can watch live (buffered) TV again with sound. There is no radio device detected with the kernel 2.6.9 cx8800 V4L driver so I can't try this with those drivers As you can see in the dmesg output below, with the snapshot drivers a radio device is created and not with the kernel 2.6.9 drivers. Also, the snapshot drivers detect a MSP3425 audio processor but the msp3400.ko module is not needed for audio to work. Since unbuffered TV playback in tvtime is working fine and via 'cat /dev/v4l/radio0' I can get sound output on the WinTV Go card enabled in MythTV, I suppose the problem lies in MythTV itself. Has anybody seen this before? Is this card maybe not yet supported in MythTV? Or maybe the CVS version of MythTV has some fixes for this? I researched linux PVR stuff for about a week before I found myth and Jarods guide. I read the guide over a couple of times and took the plunge. I'm not a linux newbie but I'm not an expert either. Using Jarod's guide, I was able to install FC1 (it was a while back) and myth, configure everything and have it all working in a period of maybe 6 hours. I've used his guide for FC2 installs and have done it enough times now that I can install FC, myth, configure and have a running system in about 3 hours. I for one am grateful for Jarods guide and think he did an outstanding job with it. The only thing that would make it even better would be if there was a link on the site to a kickstart to use to install the whole works from the ground up. Then about all his instructions would need to say would be: Download kickstart. Boot linux install aiming at kickstart floppy. Come back later when it's done. Obviously it wouldn't be that easy, but pretty close. :-) Jack Trout wrote: Well helping to fix the problem is great, but shutting it down doesnt help, Maybe Jarod hasnt had time to update it I mean he only has a life away from mythtv, including a job, and a holiday season, but I am sure any positive input to how to fix it might be useful, but if he takes it down he might not get the info needed to finish the support. We are all very lucky that jarod was nice enough to even write anything down for people less linux or even technically inclined have something to guide them. How many people are good at writing step by step documentation especially in the higher ups in unix/linux. Someone with decent technical documentation skills is hard to come by and seeing he is giving up his time and effort for free (although he does accept donations). I consider myself on the lower middle of linux tech skill and google searching, but I was able to build my first myth box barely functional after about 4-5 days of solid work and even then It wasnt 100% functional. and with jarods guide and about 4 hours my first time I had a fully functioning and recording box. [mythtv-users] mythtv menu translations
First of all Merry xmas to everyone. I know this is a not very important topic, but in order to improve to the best mythtv we might think about an answer together. Showing how the program work to my dad, who doesn't speak at all english, I saw that some menues are not totally translated. For example, the menu of advanced recording, the one that shows up when you are selecting a recording from the search list, shows some text in the translated language, and some in english. To me this is not anoying, since I like it better in english, but to my dad who wants everything in Spanish is bothering. I tried to look inside of almost every .xml file and didn't find where to change this. To be a little more specific, the not translated parts are those introduced by the new menu schema in mythtv 0.16. So, If there is someone who knows where to change this can you let me know. I am most than willing to provide a patch (if someone tells me how to do it), and I can translate the text to a couple of languages (swedish, japanese, spanish, italian ...) I hope someone knows something. Thanks in advance Juan ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

DVD ripping can be done in the background, but other than that only one thing at a time for now. This has been discussed before and I believe it is a goal down the road. 2. using a remote, can you quickly switch between modes, or do you have to use the main menu? my remote control has different buttons for different appliances (i.e., "TV", "Audio", "DVD", "VCR", "Cable", etc.) is there some way i could program mythtv so that when i pressed, say, the "Audio" button it would immediately bring up the mythmusic module, or if i pressed DVD it would bring up the mythDVD module? yes. 3. again, same question...if i *could* do #2, then could i still do other operations in the background? like if was listening to music watching a visualization, could i press TV, watch TV, and still listen to music in the background? not yet. thanks for all your help! i read the manual, but these issues weren't addressed, i don't think. -Ersin Akinci ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users -- http://www.umich2.com ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

Hello I have been experiencing something similar, and is driving my crazy. I tried changing the ivtv driver, but nothing. Then I tried changing the kernel and nothing again.
