Hi all, I was going to send this over to the Nvda list but thought the mods over there are a bit over zealous and would say it is off topic, they would be correct but I know one of the people worked with the people who made this app and it works well with Nvda. Anyway I have set a timer for every day, I can't seem to see any setting to have this app run at startup, do you have to do this? or will the app if closed just come up at the time of recording? there is not a button to hide the app in the system tray not to sure if I like this program. I have used tap in radio and this just works. but I subscribed to this not expensive so I thought i would try this app. I used to have it years ago but have kind of forgotten the way around it. thanks for any help given.

Hi Listers. I've purchased Replay Radio and most of it looks quite accessible with either WindowEyes or Jaws. I do have one problem though. If I want to simply listen to a station without recording it, how do I do that? I don't see a "listen" or "tune in station" button or anything like that, but maybe I'm missing something here. Re: Replay Radio
If you are moving up from replay 4.x to 5.0, the registration should be automatic or it was for me. If in your case this is not happening, it may be that your 4.0 version was purchased prior to April 15. Contact support for help in that case. If you have typed in your registration, I think there is a place to click which may require someone's eyes. I pointed this out previously and they changed the entry screens in response, but the changes may not have been fully implemented. They are quite responsive to suggestions so feel free to offer improvements. I would warn you that the recordings end up in a new directory and the screen for setting up a recording has been changed. It is now set in five tabs one can arrow through them and when one is selected, tab through it if you have items to fill in or defaults you want changed. In some ways it is a better set up but came as a bit of a surprise. I was the beta tester for Replay Radio 9. This program is not the old Replay Radio that you used to have. The new Replay Radio 9 or some call it just Replay Radio will start up on its own when it has to do a recording. It does not have to be running. If you set the times correctly it will record for you. Replay Radio info
>From my notes, I was the beta tester over two years ago. I do not know what your computer skills are but if you know what a menu bar is and can tab around and look for buttons on the Replay Radio 9 interface and knows what a Schedule tab list view and My Recordings tab list view are and knows how to edit a edit field box to search for a station within the Replay Guide and then adjust the time and date fields for your station then you will be fine. Like any application it takes time to learn its user interface at the beginning. You can also tune to your stations that you have added via the guide or manually. Which screen reader do you use. If you have a station or show that is not in the replay guide you can have it added to the guide by Applian. You can email the person I know there that is in charge of the guide. When you add a station from the replay guide you will get this scheduler window on your screen. You click on this +add link within the replay guide after finding your station and then the scheduler window for your station appears. This scheduler window can be used via the tab keyboard key with edit fields and combo boxes. The scheduler window has the tabs and they are Recordings, Tuning and Advanced tabs. To go into one of these tabs you need to have focus on the desired tab then press your enter key to make it the active tab then proceed with your tab key to see the settings / properties for that particular tab sheet. Using insert+tab with JAWS or NVDA will say Recording checked or if you pressed your enter key on the tuning tab it will say tuning checked which means it’s the active tab. You can record your stations and tune to them. Some of the stations you record will be captured silently in the background which is called Direct Download. It all depends on the station you are using. In the scheduler window for your station there is this No Conversion Settings button which you press your spacebar on and will allow you to change the origianl stream format to be from FLV to MP3. Some stations use FLV so doing this will automatically convert your original FLV stream recording to MP3 format. You can also convert manually any recordings you have in your My Recording list view to MP3. Say you see this FLV recording for your station you recorded you would arrow down to this file and press applications key / context menu / shift+f10 and choose save as MP3. This will convert any of your non MP3 recordings to MP3 manually. Finally anything you add via Replay Guide will show up in the Schedule tab list view area. Any of your recordings will show up in your My Recordings list view. You can use up and down arrow keys and first letter navigation within this list view to find your content. To edit a station that is already in your Schedule list view you would first find the station the Schedule list view and press your enter keyboard key on it. This will bring up your station’s scheduler window where you can edit the time and date fields and monday through Friday checkboxes and no conversion settings buttton with spacebar. replay radio 7 question
Hi I am trying a demo of replay radio with jaws seven. Tried to record a show, but received error message, saying couldn't connect to server. I may have it configured wrong. Right after installing it, I was asked about connection speed. I was giving a choice of dial up connection or proxy server. Wasn't sure what to do since I am on cable. Second question, what is the easiest way to get to the shows that you've recorded? I know I can only play fifteen minutes audio using this demo version, I just need a little more help with the program. Thanks in advance, and jonathan, what a great review on your site. Jonathan, however, when I attempted to record your tutorial at: http://www.audioblog.com/playweb?audioid=P11c4b4b51f579a9a6d9fd7f3cf50823aZV56QlREY2Zz&buffer=5&fc=CCFF33&pc=CCFF33&kc=FFCC33&bc=FF&autoplay=1&gateway=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.audioblog.com%2Fplaylist&player=ap21 I could tune in, (since it used my internet explorer "player," but I could not, for some reason, get the software to capture the stream. What am I doing wrong? Would you try and see if you can do it, or maybe I have the url wrong, though it is split into 2 lines above. I got that from top tech tidbits which is published every Thursday, but maybe another would work better for capturing with a/v. Let me know, ok? I got small *.mp3 files with silence, the server seemed to disconnect though as I say I coult "tune in" just fine. Re: replay radio problems
hi Ray I didn't know this until another list member clued me in, but aparentlysome streams*have* to be recorded via your sound card because they're protected by what is called a broadcast flag. So for these streams, what I would do is just record those through your sound card, and for others, try different streams. For me, the capture as mp3 has worked almost every time accept for once, when Replay AV gave me an error message about converting to mp3. Aparently there's a bit of an issue with converting some real audio streams to mp3. Hopefully the replay folks can work on making it more reliable. Anyways, just keep at it, and go into your settings and make sure that you don't have Replay AV set up so that it splits files on its own. if it loses the connection to the stream then obviously it's going to create another file when it picks up the stream, but if you leave all the choices in that section at the defaults, you should be fine. the file type that won't record by download is asf. the funny thing is it will record but nothing will play the file and it won't convert. i have just found out today that recording through the soundcard works like a charm and you have mor options as to what file type you wan't it in. - Original Message - From: "Chris Skarstad" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: replay radio question
select the station you want to listen to if you already have something scheduled on it or go to the add show menu, pick a station, and proceed through marking it is "unscheduled." Now once you have completed the menus, that station will always be available in the initial menu of replay-radio. Tabbing through that menu you will come to the item: tune to station. So from then on, open the program, tab over to the list of shows and arrow down till the one you want is selected, say what, then shift tab back to "tune" and hit the space bar. The same actions can be taken with use of mouse keys or partially with arrow keys, but this is the simplest way I can suggest for tuning in a station. No recording will be made but the station will come in. If you want to record at that time, first select the station or a show on that station from your preset list, then use the "record now" function. Re: Replay Radio 9
Steven Replay Radio 9 does not appear to have the ability to setup a line-in schedule as a scheduled event. To capture the line-in sound you will need some kind of amplification. When you connect the cable to your line-in jack to your computer my experience has been that you should hear the actual audio sound from whatever external source it is coming from within your computer's speakers. My experience only. If you do hear the external audio sound source within your computer then press enter key on the Quick Record button to start recording and to stop recording press the Quick Record button again. Also note, alt+r+s will also work to start a quick record and to stop a quick record simply press the same keystroke of alt+r+s.

Also note, alt+r+s will also work to start a quick record and to stop a quick record simply press the same keystroke of alt+r+s.

Replay Radio new tip
Did you know you can tell Replay Radio to put certain recordings it makes to a specific folder you designate?
Replay Radio Folder Creation
You want your X Y Z radio station recordings to be stored to a designated folder instead of the default RR9 folder. Also, you want your A B C podcasts to be stored to this other designated folder. To do the above, you would; This OK button is found when you add a station, show or podcast via the replay guide, add a show manually via the main user interface of Replay Radio 9 or when you edit an existing entry in your Schedule list view. 1. Locate the OK button within your scheduler properties window. 2. When you have focus on this ok button press shift+tab one time. You will hear something like menu split. 3. Press your space bar. 4. Down arrow and locate new folder and press enter. Edit box appears. Type in name of new folder. X Y Z Press enter. Tab over to the OK button and press enter. You are not finished. Repeat the steps shown below; This OK button is found when you add a station, show or podcast via the replay guide, add a show manually via the main user interface of Replay Radio 9 or when you edit an existing entry in your Schedule list view. 1. Re: replay radio 7 question
Since I have dial-up, I can't vouch that my answer is totally correct, but I believe you want to leave dial-up unchecked. If you have a proxy you should include its name and port, but if you haven't had to do that previously for some program or other, you likely don't have one and needn't worry about it. These choices are located under the settings menu found on the main screen. Find settings and press the spacebar on it. Shift tab once to be in the list of control tabs, and right arrow to connections. Be sure that dial-up is unchecked, and unless you know better, make sure proxy is unchecked as well. See if this makes a difference. Re: replay radio 7 question
If you are getting distortion in your recording, it may be your record volume may be set too high. There is a box to check in settings if you want replay to try to automatically optimize your volume, or you can go to the volume control which is likely in your systray and adjust the record volume. This is only a guess as just don't know enough about your set up to say anything more definite. Re: Anybody tried "Replay-Radio"?
I use replay-radio regularly and am quite satisfied. Have none of the extra add-on programs so can't comment on them. With replay-radio and the additional enhanced driver, I can record streams and have them divided into chunks of my choosing. One can record either setting programming as with a VCR scheduling the recordings in advanced, or one can find something and record at the spur of the moment. Shows can be selected and set to record automatically on specific days, to record only once, or can be unscheduled and only recorded when you choose to do so. This is most helpful when you have a station and occasionally they have something you just discovered and want to get. Greetings, Can it use a dedicated sound card? I can put one into my second PCM/CIAA slot and then, if I can switch between the cards, I would expect it to work with only the dedicated card, my hardware speech synth would be used for my speech program. Re: Anybody tried "Replay-Radio"?
There is indeed. I haven't tried it yet though. I will probably start trying and installing things once I finish my cassette digitization project in a month or two. I do one side of a cassette a day as a real time transfer is required. I carefully analyze each tape or tape series and set appropriate recording levels so to avoid the pain in the ass calisthenics of re-setting audio properties, I'm waiting until later until my current project is finished before deciding on an optimal stream capture solution. After two tape failures in as many weeks, the cassette digitization project has increased urgency. Kelly - Original Message - From: "Peter Scanlon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Replay Radio Driver Question
In the volume control for most sound cards you can get to which driver to mark as the default. Not sure how this differs from sound card to sound card but I am pretty sure you can set the native soundcard drivers as the default and the replay radio drivers will not start with windows. I used the replay-radio enhanced sound card driver so I can avoid recording system sounds and my speech. I set the computer's sound controls to default to the driver that came with the soundcard on the computer. Again, I think I reached this and made my selections using the volume control, under properties. Re: Replay Radio Driver Question
Hi Ron. As you indicated, once you set your sound card as the default, Replay Radio's driver should not be able to reassume default status with every startup. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case here. My other thought was that perhaps Replay included a feature which looks for its own driver as default at startup and reestablishes itself. when necessary. That is an option that I've seen in other software such as Winamp and Real Player, but thus far, if Replay Radio has such a feature which could be checked or unchecked, I haven't been able to find it. Re: Replay Radio Driver Question
Larry, now that I think about it, there is a setting that starts replay-radio when windows starts and I believe minimizes it to the systray. This can be changed in the settings section which is found in the main menu near the end of choices. When the program starts, shift tab about three or four times and you should get to settings. Hit the spacebar, when you do. I believe the choice of starting replay-radio when windows starts is in the "general" tab of that menu I think. Re: Replay Radio Driver Question
Peter, others may see it differently, but to me it's easier to set up timed recordings in Replay Radio. I still like total recorder for other tasks, but Replay Radio has a database of stations, and you can add to that database with your own favorites, again contributing to ease of use. Replay Radio does offer a 7 day demo. You could give it a try for yourself and see what you think. I believe that the demo's only restriction is that recordings are limited to an hour. s Larry - Original Message - From: "Peter Scanlon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Replay Radio Driver Question
1. The program comes with a good help file or links to help on the net but there is not a good hotkey list that I've seen nor for that matter are there many hotkeys that I've noticed. On the other hand, it is quite accessible. It will record shows in most formats but does seem to require that you have the requisite player (windows media or real) on your computer. You can choose how to save the files: as WAV or several levels of MP3 files. I think there is also an option to save them as WMA files but am not sure. The program is not hard to use but does require one to remember that the spacebar activates most buttons rather than the enter key. There are a couple of times when this is not the case, but these seem self evident when relevant. Re: Replay Radio Driver Question
Actually, for many soundcards, you can make recordings without the replay radio drivers. I suspect you need them if, like myself, you want to use the extended sound card driver. This is not automatically loaded onto your computer as it can in some cases cause problems, but was revamped and brought back into the program by popular demand because it allows one to record the stream before it hits the sound card screening out any system sounds and this includes speech. It is easily removed from the control panel add-remove programs option specifically because they figure that if it does cause problems on a specific system, the owner will want to remove it. I use it regularly because it causes no significant problems on my machine. Try it both ways and see which works Total Recorder has a setting to turn off System sounds. It also has "Use Directly" and a radio button to select whether you use the selected audio card or TR Driver. I've actually just discovered my TR is not set to use the TR Driver, but the system sounds are turned off. Re: replay-radio version 6
I'm scared to try that prog again on my 98 system here, but maybe the problem I had is fixable. I decided to try this replay-music thing that I found mentioned on some forum some where and replayradio was bundled with it. After I rebooted, I started getting errors about Windows-95 being unable to use the unicode version of atl.dll, but I run 98. I had to uninstall it and repair IE. I ended up uninstalling explorer down to the earliest my system allowed and then putting on 6.0, replacing atl.dll didn't fix that. - Original Message - From: "Ron or Susan Denis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Replay Radio with WinEyes
Hi, it would appear they have not updated the entry screen on the demo. It is a print screen initially. When it comes up, there are three choices: register, purchase and demo if I remember right. I managed the demo by routing the mouse to the cursor once the program opened and using the shift control numpad arrows to move by pixels, I moved roughly 3 down and 5 to the right. I then clicked. If nothing happened after a few seconds, I moved either down or to the right a step further. When you hit the magic spot, it says something like "desktop" then "replay radio then "manage shows" or something similar. From then on it is quite accessible. I wrote and complained that for such a usable program, they had an unusable initial screen. They said they like the suggestions and would make the fix. Truth is, after you register which is easiest with a set of eyes around, the problematic screen disappears never to return which is why I didn't check to see what changes have actually been made in the intro screen. Once registered, it is quite usable. Anyway, that is how I managed to get the demo started after getting visual assistance once so I know what I was dealing with. After that, it has worked well for me and I have been quite pleased. Re: Replay Radio with WinEyes
Thanks Ron. I was able to get Replay Radio started, using your mouse movement tips. Now I have another problem. I am unable to set up a recording source. I run the test and am told no sources were found and I should update my drivers. I read the faq but it doesn't seem to address this problem. It could be cause when my tecnician installed my sound card after upgrading, he only let the basic Win98se drivers for the Sblive be installed instead of using the full Creative package. He claimed it would keep my system from slowing down. I haven't had any trouble using my sound card with other applications so I didn't worry about it. Now it looks like I'll have to mess around with updating the drivers. Thanks. - Original Message - From: "Ron or Susan Denis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Hi, it would appear they have not updated the entry screen on the demo. It > is a print screen initially.
