[SlimDevices: Plugins] Dynamic Playlist Plugin - No songs after every rescan

2010-06-19 Thread Loom

Hi,

I'm running SBS 7.52 on my SheevaPlug with a SB Radio, and I'm using
the Dynamic Playlist Plugin a lot. Mainly for using a handful of songs
in random order as a wakeup alarm.

Every time I do a complete scan or a rescan of my media library, the
Plugin gives me a No Songs afterwards when I access it through the
radio. It works on the webinterface without any problems.

When I get No Songs, I have to use the plugin through the
webinterface once, and then it's also working on the radio.

Is this a known problem? Happend with the official SBS 7.51 as well.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Info Browser BBC News+Sports add-on problems

2010-06-19 Thread Phil Meyer
I am using 7.5.1.

I've noticed that sometime recently that the BBC News add-on has stopped
retrieving the news item bodies. I get a list of news headlines, but clicking
on most items reports empty.
On the Touch UI, if I back out of an empty news item, it reports No
information feeds found.

With BBC Sports info browser add-on, clicking on a sport headline is bringing
back lots of garbage in the body, such as Javascript, and Email this to a
friend text.

I'm guessing that the BBC have changed their feed format.

 found a solution.
SqueezeIR v0.61- had to be installed manually so the Applet installer

after a firmware upgrade. SqueezeIR v0.7+ uses the Apllet Installer so
can be auto-reinstalled after a firmware upgrade if you have the option

hmmm, As long as the xml and lirc files are in the correct folders on
the server and you have connected the Controller to a player that is
connected to your server then it should work. I have however noticed a
bug that can cause status 3 (success) to be shown even when the
configuration wasn't successful, that bug has been fixed in the next
version.
Can you see the xml lirc files by pointing your web-browser at them
(http://serverIP:9000/SqueezeIR/html/controllerMAC/SqueezeIR.xml
and http://serverIP:9000/SqueezeIR/html/controllerMAC/LIRC

If you can't then either your files are in the wrong place or there
could be your firewall or similar security issue on your server.

Hi Greg,
just wanted to tell that I upgraded to the latest SBS 7.5.2 and the

built-specific problem.
Luckily everything works the way it did before my update.

And about the Ö-Problem (well it is not really a problem, lets call it
a beauty-problem) I wanted to tell, that I believe that it would be
enough just to integrate the code for Ö.
I never saw any word from weather.com using an Ä,Ü or ß.
BUT: If you'd integrate an algorhythm especially for the Ö it would be
nice, if you would translate not only the Ouml; code, but also the
OE.
Yes, its mad, but for some words weather.com uses Ouml; for the Ö, for
other ones it uses OE which is the old german way of substituting the
Ö.

Thanks, Sunnysekot

Got a problem here when I try to find the you should then get an
additional repository in the list which includes Spotify as an
installable plugin. When i've added your address to the plugin-module
page, I get this up:
Spotify (v0.1) Listen to Spotify on your Squeezebox. Requires a
Spotify Premium account. Triode Triode Innstillinger

I can't find any install button. They only thing I see is
Innstillinger(means settings in english) and when I ckick it I get: 404
Not Found:
plugins/Extensions/settings/plugins/Spotify/settings/basic.html

I had to restart the server after I activated the
http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/testrepo.xml line.

But why can't I see the installable spotify plugin?

My system is windows server 2008 x64, running squeezebox server 7.5.1
r30836. Spotify is installed and my account is premium.

hmmm, As long as the xml and lirc files are in the correct folders on
the server and you have connected the Controller to a player that is
connected to your server then it should work. I have however noticed a
bug that can cause status 3 (success) to be shown even when the
configuration wasn't successful, that bug has been fixed in the next
 version.
Can you see the xml lirc files by pointing your web-browser at them
 (http://serverIP:9000/SqueezeIR/html/controllerMAC/SqueezeIR.xml
 and http://serverIP:9000/SqueezeIR/html/controllerMAC/LIRC
 filename)?
If you can't then either your files are in the wrong place or there
could be your firewall or similar security issue on your server.

I have been doing a bit more digging and there are some errors in the
 SqueezeIR.xml file that you posted:
 1) The line parameter ID=remoteHK247Rmt/parameter should read
 parameter ID=remoteHarman_Kardon_AVR240/parameter: The remote
parameter should match the name of the remote in the lirc file (the
remote ID by contrast can be whatever you want).
 2) pwr-off pwr-on should be pow_off pow_on: The command's in the
action's must match the code names in the lirc file.
 3) You may want to double check the lirc filename parameter
 ID=filenameharman_kardon_AVR240_cleaned.lirc[1].txt/parameter - is
 this correct?

Thanks, Indifference...
Still no joy.
1. I can access (list) both the XML and lirc.txt files via the http
addresses you provided.
2. I should have posted the lirc file... I had changed it on my test
system... the parameter and command names do match (attached below).

The files are in folder:
C:\Program Files
(x86)\Squeezebox\server\HTML\SqueezeIR\html\0004201a6de5

The SBC is 7.5.1 r8837
The SBS is 7.5.1 r30836
SqueezeIR is 0.71 (BETA) 10June2010

The changes I can think of from my test system (that worked):
1. Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 (test system was Win7)
2. The new PC shows .xml files as Type: Safari Document
3. Norton antivirus (AVG)

Do you have a firewall - if so it needs to give access to Spotifyd on
port 9001. Go to the settings page and change the helper logging level
to DEBUG and then see if there are error messages in the helper log.

I have seen some timeouts today - I believe them to be due to spotify

I don't think including it in an installer is necessary. Just make it
clear that is crucial to have it. People will have to manage that by
themselves, it's no big deal, now that we know.

However, it still does not work correctly for me. I get the empty
playlist problem. It seems it could have something to do with playing
individual songs. When I click to play All Songs of an album, it plays
the first song, and then behaves as if it played the next (the progress
meter in SBS moves and the seconds are counted) but there's no audio...

And stranger thing... trying to play All Songs of an album from which
the first song has already played, then doesn't even play the first
song, just shows the artwork and counts the seconds. My Duet controller
shows the artwork and says Connecting.

I'm quite sure you didn't expect all of this hassle when you were kind

If MLB icons are coming up as 'getMLB-33' or whatever number for a team,
is there a specific issue I should look into fixing? It doesn't ALWAYS
happen, but sometimes it does and seems to randomly resolve later.

Just tried an album. It only plays the first track. It looks like it

 advancing tracks for some reason.

Can you confirm if you play an album you get the full album appearing
in the playlist of your controller (or the web front page)?

Does the FWD button move onto the next track?

Yes, I can confirm that I get the full album listed in the playlist of
the controller. And it seems to play through the full album once it's
started ok; seems to since I haven't gotten through a full album
yet.

When I tried it earlier, the FWD button did move to the next track in
the sense that the song info changed and SBS started counting the
seconds and advancing the progress bar, but there was no audio.

And, as someone else mentioned, once a track fails playing, there seems
to be no way to get it to play again. SBS counts the seconds and
advances the progress bar, but no audio.

Thanks for all you help

I was assuming that when you select 320k they are all 320k, but if you
set the helper app logging to DEBUG and look at the log you can see
that this is not always true. This information is not made available
anywhere other than the log.

silent behavior, SBS advances the progress bar and counts the

Can you post what the helper app logging in DEBUG settings shows when

Regarding starting a track which fails to play. Sometimes squeezeplay
will remember the url you are playing and not do anything for the same
url unless you press stop (press and hold pause) and then play. Does
this restart it?

Thing is... spotifyd.log is nowhere on my C:\, I have searched. I have
set helper App Logging to Debug, and I have clicked Apply several
times. Clicking the Log link next to it opens an empty browser window
at http://127.0.0.1:9000/spotifyd.log. There should be no permission
issue, I am running as an XP administrator, I have Full Control of
C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\Squeezebox\Logs

Playing of failed tracks... just now the first track of an album
played, and then everything paused. I pressed and held the pause button
the controller, and then pressed FWD. The correct song info shows, but I
get the silent behavior, SBS counts the seconds, the controller says
connecting.

Ooops... now the controller crashed from too much pressure on the pause
button it seems... It rebooted itself, but still silent behavior.

There is something strange re paths here - you should just see the log
from that link. What you can do is start the main server. Then use
task manager to manually kill Spotifyd.exe

After this you can open a cmd window, change to the location of
Spotifyd.exe and then start it manually. You should then see the
logging information in the cmd window. What does it say?

Hum - that looks ok, but you don't have the log setting at DEBUG? I
would expect to see more details about playing streams?

Sounds like my next version needs more debugging messages..

Playing this way now, with spotifyd.exe started in a cmd window, and I
can tell you it seems to work *much better* than earlier. I get the
playlists shown correctly as well, all of them. I have tried to abuse

works, even the playlists.

What is this and how do I get rid of them??? They are not visible
 through the web gui interface.

I am running SBS 7.5.1 but the error was there in 7.5.0 too

Problem solved. Suddenly the were visible at the web interface, and I
could delete the. But still a mysterium where they came from

So it played ok for a long time, playlists and fwd and bwd etc, but
suddenly it played just the first track and then stopped. Maybe,
*maybe* had something to do with the fact that I minimized the cmd win.

Open win explorer and search on your system disk (C: probably) for
spotifyd.exe. When you've found it, right click and open cmd win
there. Then type spotifyd.exe followed by return.

If you don't have Open Command prompt here (or similar) in your right
click menu, look here:

I have had this problem to one time yesterday and one time today. I
restarted my internet router (combined adsl modem, firewall and WiFi)
and then everything plays normal again. Have tried from a Boom, Radio
and SBC3 both playlist and search artists and songs and it all works.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeIR Support Thread

2010-06-19 Thread Michael Herger
SqueezeIR v0.8 is available from my repo via the Applet Installer. New

Thanks for the update. I'm seeing two issues:

- first and most importantly: the applet fails to initialize after the reboot.
In the log file I'm getting among others:

Jun 19 23:17:50 squeezeplay: INFO squeezebox.server - SlimServer.lua:314
Michael Hergers Mac mini
firmware=http://192.168.0.47:9000/firmware/jive_7.6.0_r8852.bin force=false

ERROR: Configuration failed to load.

This Mac Mini isn't the SBS to which the controlled player was connected. Thus
it doesn't find the configuration file (yes, I've got more than one SBS running
in my network).

- second: there's something wrong with the popups. The title bar is somewhat
overlaying a gray bar over the rest of the screen. And once the popup is hidden
again, I'm getting an exception in the log:

Jun 19 23:20:00 squeezeplay: ERROR squeezeplay.ui - Window.lua:272 Hiding on

Sometimes the intialization will work.

Any idea why not all streams are 320kbps?

Those mean that the spotifyd process has not responded within the
timeout. Assume it has recoved after this it is nothing to worry
about. It can be due to Spotify being busy (seems to have been today?)

Are you saying that most (all?) of our problems are related to spotify
being busy? I can buy that... will try again tomorrow morning...

No - there's definately bugs. I meant assuming it recovered after
this then it should be ok and these can be ignored. If however it
persits then there are problems which need fixing.

I should have an updated beta with more debugging for tomorrow...

Any chance that this will work with a NAS based Squeezebox server in the

Just got me a Netgear ReadyNAS DUO, but i don´t know if it is even
possible for you to get that to work.

Keep up the good work.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-06-19 Thread Triode

I don't claim to have resolved the streaming issues seen by several
people, but I've put a new beta release in my test repo. You should be
able to install it in the same way as the previous one (via the plugins
page once you have added the repository).

A summary of new features:
- web interface now displays icons for lists of albums
- added recent arists and recent albums which keeps a list of the
last 50 artist or albums you have browed. This should reduce the need
to repeat searches
- added artwork resizing to improve performance with Squeezeplay
devices and iPeng
- added track info for artists on Spotify - this should allow you to
use the context menu to find the artist on Spotify and browse their
albums or similar artists
- added a few more debug lines in the helper app to help diagnose
streaming issues (don't claim these are fixed)

As before this should support windows and linux. Windows users who
previously needed to install the VC++ redistributable should not need
to do this again. If you are a new windows user and the helper app
does not appear to run then please try to install the redistributables
as per previous posts.

Let me know how you get on

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-06-19 Thread goopile

Well, I'm able to install the new beta without any trouble, so far so
good. But that's also it, I'm not able to listen to anything at all, I
get 404 Not Found errors when clicking for example Playlists, but
clicking on the newly added Recent Artists for example yields the
error below:

Code:

Timed out waiting for data
  [10-06-20 06:37:31.1526] Slim::Utils::Timers::__ANON__ (260) Error: Timer
failed: illegal file descriptor or filehandle (either no attached file
descriptor or illegal value): at

  [10-06-20 06:37:37.8980] Slim::Formats::XML::gotErrorViaHTTP (332) Error:
getting localhost:9001/status.json
  Timed out waiting for data

At startup I get this error which I've been trying to solve but without
any luck so far:

Code:

[10-06-20 06:22:05.6387] Slim::Utils::PluginManager::load (330) Warning:
Couldn't call Plugins::Spotify::Plugin-initPlugin: slimserver.pl: exec failed:
No such file or directory
  at /opt/squeezebox-server/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotify/Spotifyd.pm
line 35

Spotifyd runs and seems alive and well though, according to logs.
ArchLinux with SBS 7.5.1. Any help or hints appreciated! I'm not giving
up on this one, I wantz it! ;)
