CSRE: Diagram - design

1999-10-26 Thread Fred
*-A nice diagram is illustrated there. I beliele it's stated there that
7.5ppm/quart can be attained in 1.5hrs w/ the ingot. (I hope that's not
75ppm!)

Does anyone here know whether an adequate and sufficient Ag ppm can be
achieved with this technique?
What are your thoughts on the design in the diagram?

Anyone with any more info or suggestions or ideas?

*TIA!
The design, as illustrated, will have a strong tendency to produce
silver crystals, as the water volume is far too large for the electrode
area and the water surface is in contact with the electrode. The best
solution, if you want to build your own, is to run a smaller batch, mix
or circulate the water and insulate the top of your electrodes where
they meet the water surface. It can not make a 75PPM colloid, but with
the poor design could make 75PPM of silver crystals! Most of these
will settle and the total dissolved solids will typically be 10-15PPM.
You must remember PPM is a measure by weight, while TDS is what
is in solution! This type, if left running overnight will usually cover the
top of the water with a shiny silver mirror!

Nicely put! Your philosophy is a sensible one! Yes, I believe garlic does

But I do know that I feel slightly stultified after eating garlic which I
love - some dishes just aren't right without it!! A friend of mine said
when he was undergoing military training he came across a soldier dipping
his bullets in a bowl of crushed garlic. He was told that with the garlic,
even if the bullet only causes a 'nick' it is still fatal! I've also heard
that some arrow-hunters follow this practice with their arrow-tips too, as
it is lethal once in the bloodstream!

molecular???

1mole = 6.02 x 10^23 atoms (or molecules, Avogadro's number) and is
equal to the atomic weight expressed as grams. In the case of silver
1mole = 107.87 grams.

I respect your theory but find it hard to believe Hanna has been
selling mis-
calibrated instruments for 20 years without their peers slamming
them! Do
you have a web source for the 61.9 Scm^2 M^-1 that is Semen
centimetre
 squared per Mol.

http://www.compusmart.ab.ca/plambeck//che/p415/p15062.htm

(think you ment uS/cm and Siemen? or are we talking
 61,900 micro-Seimen - again forgot what a mol is)

(I wonder if there is a relationship between Avogadro's number and
Semen)

Hanna's instruments are not mis-calibrated, they read the conductivity
of the solution, and their standard solutions are certified correct
(NIST traceable), but the conversion factors for the small TDS meters
are only *near enough* and follow the industry standard.
Take the conversion factor of 0.5 (or 2) for CaCO3 for example, the
conversion factor is never reached in real solutions, see:
http://www.omega.com/techref/ph-2.html CaCO3 is a special case (2 x
bivalent atoms) and does not follow the conductivity rules of
univalent atoms (I should never have included it), but because it is a
common dissolved solid and its molecular weight of 100.09, it is easy
to use in the *equivalent weight method* ie molecular weight divided
by the valency per uS.

As for silver, I think that Hanna have simply said decided that its
molecular weight (107.87) is close enough to 100 that the ppm ratio is
directly related to the molarity of an aqueous solution 100 to 1.
Which gives (ignoring how the units were derived) 0.619 uS per ppm.
Taking the inverse we find 1.62ppm per uS.
However, if we use the actual mw of silver we have a ratio of 108 to 1
then 0.619 x 100 / 108 = 0.573 uS / ppm... or 1.74 ppm / uS.

I derived this result for a number of compounds using the individual
limiting ionic conductances, notably Na+, K+ and Cl- and was able to
check my results with published results for NaCl and KCl with good
correlation, especially after factoring in the change in conductance
in relation to the concentration as described by Kohlrausch's Law and
as developed in the Debye - Huckel - Onsager theory. A discussion on
the conductivity of ions can be found in Physical Chemistry - Atkins
which most libraries should have, one can read the theory without
needing to understand the maths.

This is rather distressing, to become so unsure of who to respect,
do you
or anyone else have a web based scientific encyclopedia source? The
poor
folks who do not enjoy trying to understand the techi stuff must

I should think that quite a few silvertails will be interested in the
outcome of these discussions, if only in that the conclusion may be
that a cheap conductivity meter can provide reliable concentration
information for silver colloids or sols fitting certain parameters.

I only include the method and maths so that others who are competant
can verify or refute my conclusions, or for those who are just plain
interested. The rest may simply ignore these messages.

Re: CSsilver coins; as electrodes?

1999-10-26 Thread J.
Good question. I thank all for their responses to MY query re. using
0. silver ingots or coins, but my question was more one of what the
PPM would likely end up, as compared to using a 14 gauge electrode/
probe, which is recommended by many.

I can get . pure silver coins in troy ounces here (*Though coins,
they're sold more for their silver content rather than as monetary units).
They are gov't certified to be PURE silver (.). I know what's in
them. These are what I had in mind. --I can also get the .999 fine
silver wire, but without an assay certificate I'm leery as to impurities.

Beyond that, I still wonder how effective the 'chunks' of pure silver
would be as opposed to the fine wires dipping into the liquid as the Ag is
charged and dispersed as in, efficiency, time frames, ppm, etc.

The excellent diagram showing the process in question (a CS generator),
again, can be linked to here:

Thanks so much! Great Listserv!

Do you mean 3ppm TDS or 3uS.

3ppm

I must say that even my dw that has been around for months still reads
1uS.

I should clarify. The 3ppm is due to the calibration technique
required by the 3-electrode CS Systems Phaser unit I'm using.
Baking soda is added to pure water to bring the conductivity up to
3ppm (measured by the TDS meter). The Phaser won't work
without an initial conductivity that is roughly equivalent
to 3ppm.

This initial 3ppmTDS measurement corresponds to 6uS on the PWT
meter - which correlates to the conversion that Hanna gave me of
1ppm = 2 uS when measuring dissolved solids in water.

Does this make any sense at all?!!?

CSColloid? was baking soda

1999-10-26 Thread Ivan Anderson

- Original Message -
From: Tim Cudzilo t...@primenet.com

snip
Eventually, (and hopefully) this list will recognize the the
maximum
 effacy of
suspended silver solutions is in the charge of the solution.

Oh man, where have you been? Do you think we don't realise that by
sending a current through a couple of silver electrodes immersed in
water that charged silver particles enter the water. The Ag+ particles
give the solution its charge. Chemical reactions take place between
charged atoms and complexes.

I don't read all the tripe, but I have yet to see any reference to
an
 electroscope.

Thats because, like you, we have moved on from 4th grade science. If
you want to know if your solution has a charge, dip your
millivoltmeter electrodes in it.

Like it or not folks, finely divided silver IS sensitive to light.

Not strictly true. Certain wavelengths of light have enough energy to
cause a change in charge state of silver ions.

Internally, ANY silver is better than NO silver.

CS as you refer to it, is not a colloid at all.

Any silver particle in a suspension of pure H2o is heavier than the
 suspending medium.

In lay terms, a true colloid would be a jar full of pink fish eggs.
If one
 were to pick a few
eggs, inject them with a blue color and a grain of sand to make them
 heavier than the rest,
and put them back, - that would be a true colloid.

Are you making this up?
Shaving cream is a colloidal system, as is beer, milk, mayonaise.
The definition of a colloidal system is small 'particles' of one
substance distributed more or less uniformly throughout another. This
latter phase is continuous whilst the 'particles' are discontinuous.
The continuous phase may be a gas, liquid, or solid whilst the
discontinuous phase may also be a gas, liquid or solid. The system
will be colloidal if the 'particles' are sufficiently small and that
usually means less than about 1um in at least one important
dimension. - Introduction to Modern Colloid Science...Hunter.

Whilst colloidal silver systems, properly called silver sols or
colloidal sols, approach the dimensions of true solutions and exhibit
little or no difference from true solutions, they are regarded as
colloidal if the size of the particle falls between 1 - 1000 nm.

They would stay in apparent suspension. even though they were
heavier (
because of the sand), because the slight increase in weight is not
enough
to displace pink fish eggs around them. If the container were
vibrated,
they would eventually reach the bottom. Gravity rules.

That is because fish eggs do not fit the colloidal dimension.
The particles in colloidal silver will be denser at the bottom of the
solution than at the top, due to gravity, by a very small degree.
You have no understanding of the complex interaction of forces at work
which keep particles suspended in a collodal system.

Very fine suspensions of silver will all eventually settle out. The
silver
particles bump into water molecules, like bumpers on a pinball
machine.
The smaller the particles, the longer it takes. It will happen
eventually.

This is probably true, but I have litres of light yellow cs that have
no fall out after 15 months and still retain the same charge.

If the silver particles have like charges however, they will
continually
 repel each other,
or swim. As long as they remain charged, they are viable
swimmers.

The nature of things is that all charged things seek equilibrium.

Equilibrium can be reached by giving up a charge, to reach
stability.

Stability or equalibrium does not require the giving up of charge.

If a photon (light), strikes a particle, that impact is sufficient
to
change (or in this case nullify)
a positive charge on a silver particle.

A photon is what? Why would this 'photon' strike a silver particle and
not a water molecule through which it must travel?
Far ultraviolet light has enough energy to alter the water in such a
way as to have an effect on the positive silver charge(reduction).
Incidental light does not.

At that point, it becomes just a hunk of silver.

Everyone in this group should be familiar with the mechanics of
oxidation.

Positively charged silver particles are already oxidised (lost an
electron).

In many ways, what I have seen in this group is exactly akin to
worming
 your dog.

You eat enough to kill ( or slow down ) the offender, but not enough
to
 kill the host.

Which, is fine. Your immune system needs all the help it can get.

Phew!

You would all do well to test the charge of your solutions.

With an electroscope?

Regards - Ivan

Re: CSsilver questions

1999-10-26 Thread Steve King
June-

away. I'm taking the CS from our small home unit, but it appears to be doing
nothing.

I think we have to be careful thinking that
the ingestion of one substance can solve
all our problems. CS as with any remedy
works best as part of a holistic program
that supplies the body with the nutrients,
rest, exercise, air, sunshine, mental state,
and so on that it needs. (But you knew that!)

Someone on this list once said that they
were getting nowhere with CS against
flu or some ailment. . . and then
they happened to take some wheat grass
juice, which has tons of vitamins,
minerals, enzymes, etc. So
evidently, in that case, their body didn't
have the resources it needed to get
better even with the help of CS -
until the wheat grass was added to
the equation. The problem with this
theory is that the missing ingredient
for holistic treatment seems to vary
greatly from person to person and
ailment to ailment. Finding the right
holistic mix is sometimes like finding
a needle in a haystack - or like a similar
overused metaphorical phrase of
your choice. . . holy grail, fountain
of youth, secret of life. . .

That said, you might try another CS
generator or some commercial made
product. If you are really confident
in the quality of your CS, you will feel
better about drinking larger amounts.
Right now I'm trying to correct an allergy
situation by drinking around 20 - 30 oz per
day of approx 20 ppm sol. I won't do this
forever but I believe its a viable short
term therapy.

Re: CSWhat am I making ?? c/gold

1999-10-26 Thread Ivan Anderson
The standard reduction potential of gold is Au --- Au+++ +3e- 1.4
volts
 or Au+ --- Au+ + e- 1.69 volts
So you will have a gold sol. I believe this can take a little time and
you may be wise to limit the current, sounds the gold is burnt.

 trying c/gold
A little bit of experimenting has produced a clear solution with a
very
 faint tinge
almost akin to a blue tropical lagoon.
 .
 2 electrodes 99% Gold .7 mil dia 1' wetted. spacing 2.5mm, volts 36.
Dc
 current increased from 1ma
to 30 ma after 12 days. hard black crud on electrodes, (had to
scrape it
off) normal room temp (not heated water)
No fallout. using steam distilled water. no starter solution. no
additives
 good tyndall effect.

Does anyone have any idea what I have made, I sure dont.

CSCorrection on CS PRO Systems Phaser cost

Dear all-

I have to apologize to Bruce Marks

I said in an early testimonial that his

I just learned that he now has a more
complete line of Phasers that start
at $99. I don't think he had a low cost

I think is a fancy name, to cover the real thing... I am pretty sure this

this at the University... but it is working, we made a comparative study

No results or poor results or inconsistent results (if any) with the
peroxide or ozone. or really slwly. The patients (similar conditions,
same kind of cancer, the response of improvement was from day 1 to day 2

Hello CS listers-

This is completely off topic and I apologize for that but I am devastated
at the news I received today. I am asking for any help you wonderful people
might have because I do not know where else to turn.

A very dear friend of mine has a 7 year old daughter who has been diagnosed
with an inoperable brain glioma. Up until today, she has been in a research
program for a new type of chemotherapy that has worked to keep the cancer
isolated and under control. Today, they were told that she must go off of
the program because there is a high risk of Leukemia associated with the
dosage of chemo she has been receiving. The hospital and doctors will not
take responsibility for this have essentially told them that there is
nothing else they will do for her.

Unfortunately, I am not a doctor and do not know any other details
regarding the type of chemo she was receiving. I only know that thus far
it has helped keep her here with us and now her parents fear the worst.

Please, if anyone has any info at all, could you share it with me. If you
would prefer, you can email me directly at den...@perle.com.

Thank you all so much...please say a prayer for the Henry family...they
really need it.

Dana

Re: CSppm standard - 1.74PPM/uS

1999-10-26 Thread Steve King
Ivan-

What does Bruce have to say on the matter?

Bruce says (of course) that he has lab tested
it extensively and the baking soda does not
react. And according to a post by Brooks
awhile back, the baking soda may even
extended shelf life by adjusting PH.

Why don't you try adding some cs to reach the same start up reading?

Excellent point. I asked Bruce about this
and he says that the conductivity of his
CS is so low that you would have to add
too much. The calibration procedure uses
a solution of approx 950 ppm CaCO3 sol
administered in eye dropper doses.

Please see this URL for details.. .

( Actually, I think I -will- try the CS seed
starter method, just for the sake
of experience.)

Instead of living lives of continual progress and enlightenment, man
used the time to cycle through periods of righteousness, wickedness,
repentance and then more wickedness. Then God became very tired of
this and corrupted the food and water, so that these long lives were
no longer possible. He wanted man to appreciate his time on earth and
be motivated to use it more productively. Some would argue that this is
also when we in general started having more lives than one, the work one
needed to accomplish continued in the next life. Lessons learned in
sequential lives, but it says in scripture that there will come a time

spraying directly as well - in fact when he sees us approach with the spray

How come some posts continue on in one vein in the same msg including
replies and when I try to post it sends a whole new msg. instead of
 a reply to the question

Hi Janine,

There are two ways to post to the list. If you start a new message,
give it a new subject and send it to silver-list@eskimo.com, it
will appear as the beginning of a new thread.

If you hit the reply button on your browser or e-mail reader,
the program *should* pick up the subject of the message you're
reading, and also fill in the To: or addressee field with the silver
list address. It'll also probably quote the text of the message
you're responding to in your reply.

You should always check the subject and addressee fields before
hitting send, to make sure your program picked up the right parts so
you know exactly where your message is going.

Hope that helps! Ask away if you have any more questions!

Positively charged silver particles are already oxidised (lost an
electron).

I've seen this said several times, and at the risk of having my ears boxed
by the real scientists on the list, I have to say it looks like nonsense.
The loss of an electron gives a positive charge. That's not oxidation.
Oxidation is picking up an oxygen atom and thus becoming part of a
compound -- an oxide.

Any argument with that?

CSStirring the pot?

1999-10-26 Thread Rob Lowe
In my short time as a member of the list I have seen much 'pot stirring'!
However, I have a serious question to ask;

As a non-techie, and one who appreciates that 'any silver is better than none',
as expressed
by some listers recentlyJust how important is the stirring process in the
success of home manufacture CS?

If, as I understand it, the the CS electrons or microns, (or whatever!?), repel
each in solution with an electrical charge.
To make only a 5-10ppm batch using a SOTA generator means standing there for 30
minutesAnd, if I make an extra batch for the kids, means standing at the
stove for an hour - so on!!
Your thoughts please,
Thanks, Rob

Hello wonderful fraturnity of the CS art,

  DIGESTION, con`t
 The pharynx, or throat.
This is the crossing over point between the digestive tract and the
respiratory tract. It it a common chamber for food on the way to the
esophagus and air on the way to the windpipe. At this point along the
line something can go down the wrong way. Normally, A valve closes the
opening to the windpipe. You actually hold your breath for a second
while the ball of food is swallowed into the esophagus.
 The esophagus, or gullet.
This is a collapsible, muscular tube about ten inches long. It passes
downward behind the windpipe, between the lungs and behind the heart. It
penetrates through the diaphragm and reaches the stomach. Food is moved
along the esophagus by waves of automatic muscular contractions
traveling downward along the tube. These contractions are known as
*peristaltic waves* and the process is called peristalsis. The
peristaltic waves push along before them any food that may be in the
tube. The point where the gullet leads into the stomach is guarded by a
muscular structure called the *cardiac sphincter*. This is a circular
muscule that is ordinarily contracted so the passage way is closed. When
food is swallowed the cardiac sphincter relaxes. An opening forms in the
center and the food is swept into the stomach. Then the muscle contracts
and the opening closes to prevent food from leaving the stomach, and
going back up the esophagus.
DEGLUTITION, or swallowing, is divided into three stages, which
correspond to the three regions--- mouth, pharynx, and
esophagus---through which food passes. The first stage consists of the
passage of the bolus of food through the fauces. The second stage
consists of the passage of the bolus through the pharynx. During this
stage, the respiratory opening into the larynx is closed by the
approximation of the vocal folds which close the glottis, by the
elevation of the larynx, and by contraction of the muscles of
deglutition. The parts are crowded together by the decent of the base of
the tongue, by the lifting of the larynx, and the coming together of the
vocal folds.
The third stage consists in the passage of the bolus through the
esophagus. Apparently the consistency of the food affects this stage of
the process. Solid or semisolid food is forced down the esophagus by a
peristaltic movement and requires from four to eight seconds for its
passage from the mouth to the stomach. About half of this time is taken
up in the passage through the esophagus, and the remainder is spent in
transit through the cardiac orifice of the stomach. Liquid or very soft
food is shot through the esophagus and arrives at the lower end in about
0.1 second. It may pass into the stomach at once or may be held in the
esophagus for some moments, depending on the condition of the cardiac
sphincter. When the stomach is empty, the cardiac sphincter is relaxed or
partially relaxed. On ingestion of food it becomes tonically contracted,
and as digestion continues, the sphincter becomes more tense. The
tension develops in response to the rise of acidity in the liquid just
within the cardiac portion of the stomach.
The food, after passing through the upper esophageal sphincter enters
the esophagus. No futher digestion takes place in the esophagus. Its
role is to move food down to the stomach. The lower two thirds of the
esophagus is enveloped in smooth muscle. Successive waves of contraction
of these muscles move food down to the stomach. Because of this
peristalsis, humans can swallow even if they are upside down, or in
space. With out peristalsis we could not leave the gravity field we live
in.
As the food passes the lower esophageal (cardiac) sphincter it enters
the stomach. If this sphincter does not close properly, the food backs
up into the esophagus, and the acid coating the food causes a burning
sensation called *heartburn* ( which has nothing to do with the heart).
This is a common problem during pregnancy, when the digestive organs are
displaced far upward. It also happens with overeating (stuffing
yourself).
During the process of mastication, insalivation, and deglutition the
food is reduced to a soft, pulpy condition, any starch it contains may
begin to be changed into sugar, and the food acquires a more or less
alkaline reaction.
 Vomiting,
Under ordinary circumstances the contraction of the cardiac sphincter
prevents the regurgitation of food, but spasmodic contractions of the
abdominal muscles may, if the diaphragm is fixed, force the contents of
the stomach through the esophagus and mouth to the exterior. This is
called vomiting. It is usually preceded by a sensation of nausea and a
reflex flow of saliva and is itself a reflex act brought about by
mechanical irritation of the throat or by irritating substances in the
stomach and duodenum, or by pain, heart conditions, and certain emotions
as

Subject: CSdiagram/design

The design illustrated is for a standard 3 9volt battery setup! It is the
same one a lot of us are using, except it uses ingots instead of wires. It
is fine to use a quart mason jar it is not too much volume! I make mine
like
this all the time. If the electrodes don't come into contact with the
water
how would you make cs!!??? Your reply to Tia is misleading and
 ridiculous.

These are the same type results I get.

This will not produce silver crystals or flakes on the water
surface. How about it techies what do you say?

I'm definately NOT a techie, wish I was, then maybe I could make a
generator polarity switching so as not to get the build up on the negative
electrode when I don't watch my CS brew as closely as I should...especially
towards the end of the cycle.
I use the same 27 VDC (3 9-volt batteries) setup as probably many of us
do. I use a pint canning jar everey time I make a batch. I usually let it
go for about an hour at first and then take the electrodes out and
wipe/rinse them off and put them back in after I stir the batch. (One of
those little stirrers would be nice to alleviate having to do this.)
Then after about 30-45 min. I do the same thing again. From here on out
it must be done about every 15-20 min. or there will be a black build up on
the negative electrode that just grow thicker the longer it stays in the
solution. If I let this go too long, there will be silver flakes on top of
the CS around the neg. elec. The longer it stays in w/o being wiped off the
more exagerated the condition.
If I were to leave it unattended overnight as Fred said I would have a
really disgusting looking mess with much silver flakes, a 'trail' of black
falling from the neg. elec. to the bottom of the jar and on the pos. elec.
there would be this grayish, mush looking stuff built up on the electrode
and beginning to 'trail' down to the bottom of the jar. (This was learned
by forgetting about a batch I was making one night...remembered it the next
morning. Had to pitch it out.) Oh well, I called that one a learning
experience.
Hope this helped some. These are just my observations from my own
experience. The only problems come as a direct result of my own
inattentiveness.
We can all (inexperienced and techie alike) learn from this medium if we
seek to do so with the understanding that we all have differing methods,
variables, etc. But we can all still make a 'good product'.

Happy CS'ing to all.

W.T.

Tia don't panic Fred has his
 info all wrong.

 Janine

Hrmmm, I've never been that sure about polarity switching. I would tend to
wonder what happens to the sludge if it's not on the cathode. We know it's
there somewhere, as it is part of the process of colloidal silver
generation. Something to think about I guess.
