Dear Judith,
Marshalee is correct. I used to be a 'Planned Preventative Maintenance' person
before she mended my ways. :)
See Fowler's Modern English Usage  prevent(at)ive. The short form is better;
see LONG VARIANTS where he says 'The better the writer the shorter the words'...
broadly true Those who run to long words are mainly the unskilful and
tasteless; they confuse pomposity with dignity, flaccidity with ease, and bulk
with force.

My 3 nearest dictionaries [each is a standard doorstop weight ;) ] say :

CSList rules...

2001-12-30 Thread M. G. Devour
Danny writes:
Is this web site about Collodial Silver or semantics?

Colloidal Silver, with a seasoning of everything else, within the
limits of courtesy and reason.

Sorry I haven't posted these in a while. Below are the list rules, as
they are currently constituted... The parts about chit-chat and banter
being a privelege and about List Cops are both germane.

As Marshalee suggests, let's be nice to each other.

Mike Devour
silver-list owner

Courtesy Always

Civil, courteous, and considerate behavior is required at all times and
in all discussions, regardless of topic. Aggressive behavior is not
allowed. Attacks, ridicule or insults against the person, ideas,
education, beliefs, or opinions of any other list member are not
acceptable behavior. This applies equally to off-list behavior toward
list members.

Criticism of other list members' behavior or how the list is being run
must be directed to the list owner, privately and not on the list. No
List Cops!

Permitted Topics

Any Colloidal Silver related topic or question may be raised and
discussed until it is obviously exhausted. Any alternative
health-related question may be asked, and answers may be given
regardless of whether they are related to Colloidal Silver or not.
HOWEVER...

Alternative health related topics NOT related to Colloidal Silver will
be ended or taken off list as soon as basic information is given and
important resources identified.

Brief heads-up messages about legislation, regulation, or politics of
relevence to Colloidal Silver or important alternative health issues may
be posted occasionally, with follow-up to be taken off list.

A modest amount of humor, chit-chat, friendly banter and encouragement
is condoned, and is indeed important for the well-being of the list.
Such threads should be brief, seldom more than a small handful of
messages. Such off topic noise must be allowed in order to foster the
friendly, welcoming environment we seek. It is, however a privilege.
Please do not abuse it.

No Commercial Activity

This is a non-commercial forum. No vendor may participate except as a
private individual. No promotion of any kind is permitted without my
prior, explicit approval of each occurrence. No vendor or representative
may promote a particular product or malign any other.

No vendor sales or solicitation is permitted except in private e-mail.
It is each member's responsibility to make sure all business is
conducted privately and not on the list, but it is especially the
vendors' responsibility to know how to reply off list to avoid violating
this rule.

Exception: Reasonable use of signature files and taglines is permitted.
The list owner will judge what is reasonable.

Prohibited Topics

Experience shows that certain topics are clear losers, no matter how
carefully they are treated.

Politics is forbidden unless it relates directly to CS or important
alternative health issues, as mentioned above. Do not discuss parties,
elections, politicians, policy, or philosophy. Do not raise divisive
issues -- you know which ones! Do not reply to political comments made
by others -- Nope, not even to be fair!

Religion, mysticism, or spirituality are to be avoided as topics for
discussion. There is no comment you can make that will not risk
offending someone. Overt evangelization is not permitted. Do not reply
to religious remarks made by others.

I am not asking you to de-God everything you say, do or think,
however. Brief greetings, thanks, and prayer requests or offerings are
acceptable. The occasional God bless, or you're in our prayers will
not be seen as a transgression. Modest tag lines or signature files may
also be used.

I say again: Criticism of other list members' behavior or how the list
is being run must be directed to the list owner, privately and not on
the list. No List Cops!

Off Topic Posts

Posts that are clearly Off Topic are generally discouraged. Do not start
an obviously off topic thread. Do not reply to off topic posts made by
others. If a thread morphs off-topic, end it or take it off list! There
should not be lengthy threads on obviously off-topic subjects.

This does not apply to threads that result from someone's health related
questions as described in the Permitted Topics section above.

If in doubt, or you have a special need you believe justifies an off
topic post, please ask me in private e-mail.

RE: CSFiltering CS

2001-12-30 Thread Kent and Carol
I get the same rust colored stains on a measuring cup that I use. After I
have finished brewing my CS I strain it using a coffee filter. The container
I pour it into has a chip in the glass (this is the measuring cup) and I
have noticed a rust coloration forming in the uneven surface of the chip.

I am also getting this rust coloration on an eye dropper I use to snort
CS with when I get a sinus infection.

This is the same rust color that my used coffee filter/strainer gets if I
leave laying out for a day or so.

I don't know what is causing this but it has something to do with the CS.

Talking about filtering CS,
I bought the unbleached coffee filters, the Melitta brand.
When I used them to filter my CS, the CS got darker yellow in color.
This happened several times so I stopped using those coffee filters as I
then figured that the filters are not really unbleached but maybe colored
brown to look unbleached and perhaps the coloring is leaching into the CS.
It was then suggested by the manufacturer of my CS generator that I could
use
white cotton handkerchiefs to filter the CS.
So now I am using cotton hankies. However, I am noticing that whenever I
rinse out the hankies and hang them to dry, I notice a rust colored stain
develops on the part that was in contact with the CS.
Now I am wondering where this rust color is originating from. The
manufacturer has no explanation for the rust color and says that the silver
strips being used for the electrodes are 99.9 silver. Any way of testing the
electrodes for purity?
Also, I am beginning to wonder if the rust is coming from the metal covers
that I am using for the quart size mason jars that I use to make and store
the CS.
Any ideas or comments on this subject is appreciated.
Thanks,
Josephine

.

 Terry replies:
Leo, no filter that I have ever heard of can filter
out particles of anything as small as CS (unless your
 CS is dark brown). .

then figured that the filters are not really unbleached but maybe colored
brown to look unbleached and perhaps the coloring is leaching into the CS.
 Thanks,
 Josephine

 Terry replies:

Re: CSOT - Huntington's disease

2001-12-30 Thread Brooks Bradley
Dear Sir,
Since Huntington's Chorea (Huntington's disease)
[HD] has been determined---through direct research---to present as a
pronounced loss of neurons in the cerebral cortex via a phenomenon called
excitotoxic cell death..one should be stimulated to investigate the
works of Dr. Russell Blaylock. In a very substantial number of cases
involving presentations of excitoxin-induced brain-cell death..Dr.
Blaylock achieved measureable success in abating the process through the use
of alpha lipoic acid's antioxidant properties.. Although a majority of his
cases involved damage caused/exacerbated by excitotoxin compounds such as
MSG and Nutrasweet..the chronology of cell deterioration appears
identical to the HD presentations. While the pathogenesis of HD remains
unknown/undisclosed..one might be encouraged to consider protocols
demonstrated to be effective in addressing excitotoxin-induced brain-cell
death..as published by Dr. Blaylock.
Blaylock determined that the neurotransmitters (precursors
actually) such as trytophan and tyrosine (obtained normally through diet)
had to be closely controlled in susceptible subjects-or the brain would
go berserk.
Additional substances recommended by Dr. Blaylock, as
offering support in ANY form of excitotoxic insult, included: N-Acetyl
L-Cysteine, Coenzyme Q-10, Acetyl L-carnitine, L-Carnitine, and Taurine.
Additionally, general brain function was shown to improve through the use of
Lecithin, Phosphatidylserine, Hydergine, and Deanol.
In any event since a majority of these substances are of
proven value in sustaining proper health, logic invites one to strongly
consider their support as ancillary protocols in addressing HD.
I encourage you to obtain a copy of Dr. Blaylock's book,
entitled, Excitotoxins, The Taste That Kills.
Sincerely, Brooks Bradley.

CSbrewing time vs wattage factor

2001-12-30 Thread Wayne Fugitt

Evening Terry,

Using 32 oz of DW and 27 volts for 45 minutes, with no

starter? You'd be lucky to have 1 or 2 ppm. If 8 oz of
that 32 oz was pre-brewed CS as a starter, you would
probably have about 5 ppm in 45 minutes (brewing 32 oz
with 27 volts).

Do you think something similar to a wattage factor applies?

If one doubles the voltage, 54 volts for example, then the time would be
cut in half, or the ppm would be twice as much. After all, wattage is the
work done in any circuit. This should apply to your 110 VDC just like
it does to the lower voltages that some use.

Likely a real engineer could tell us the watts per ppm. If this could be
done, then the variation of electrode spacing, starting conductivity, and
working voltage would become only variables, and the wattage per ppm would
be the constant that we would be concerned with.

Historically, I have used the current meter more in my every day work
than similar technicians I have talked with.

I have always said, the final check to see if any circuit is working right
is the current flow. If the current flow is not what it should be, then
the circuit is not working as it should. This is true on little circuits,
big circuits, and huge circuits.

I can't see why most of these basic principles do not apply to the CS
process as well.

A tech without a current meter is in a world of hurt. I even purchased a
50 amp meter shunt and built in into a nice plastic box with terminal
strips on the outside. I used to service a lot of central powered
emergency light systems, as well as large inverter systems. Some of these
were 480 three phase and were up to 48,000 volt amps.

Likely larger ones exist, but I have not run across them.

I have a 12 volt, 100 amp supply that has a 100 amp meter shunt
installed. Can anyone think of a good use of it?

Hi Rich,

Careless reading! The pure hype is that yellow is best not that yellow does not
exist.

One can get yellow many ways, i.e. just a trace of soap or detergent will make
the CS go yellow. Brewing to long or at too high of a current density, or nor
not stirring.

You do not need to use hot water. Idon't know where that old wive's tale came
from but junk it.

I have duplicated every protocol that the listees have come up with in the last
four years, (hundrerds of data logged tests)
and the measured the ionic ppm with my spectrophotometer.

Other people have reported browish clouds forming but I have never seen them.
May be because I have never used heated water. One does not need that speed-up.
It has been reported that microwaved water has some strange characteristics.

I would suggest that you put a current meter in one line and turn off the
voltage when the current reachs about 3 ma.
Also move the electrodes out to about 2 1/2 spacing and add constant stirring
to elminate agglomeration. Air bubble is a poor substitue for stirring as the
action between the electerodes is tooweak.

Yes three 9v Batteriesmakes good CS if you w\follow the proper rules.

One of the stations in a electronics lab that I once worked at was the HI-POT
area for testing capacitors. Lethal voltages were involved.

A large plexiglas box with a hinged lid and leads inside was the test area.
The box lid had a safety switch that cut power to the leads inside, when the lid
was opened.

Foolproof, but not damnfoolproof. The manager showing me around, opened the lid,
reached in, and grabbed the now charged capacitor. He became quite agitated!

The container and interlock switch was what I was suggesting.

Re: CSRe: Poisettia CS

2001-12-30 Thread boberger
Hi Dave,

I don't really know where to begin But what you are doing is a
disaster!!!

To make HVAC with all of your electrodes wet is the first disaster. My
investigations of two wet (why 4?) was never able to make more that 9
ppm (true not hanna stuff) and it would go yellow or dirty and have
silver drop out. So I abandoned that process.

The cone process where one electrode is wet and the other about 1/8 to
1/4 above the DW surface will make a reasonable CS that has a lot of
partilces in it as witnessed by the bright T.E.

When you made the arc in air the there was a whole bunch of NO3
generated. (note arcing in air is how Dr. Farber before WWI made nitric
acid to explosives.) It also makes NO2 and the twoswithc levels with
time. I will attach a plot of one of my
run made on 11/6/01 and retested yesterday. It is quite revealing.

HVAC ARC when there is a CO2 blanket makes a product that has structured
water and is almost totally ionic. Mine is 98+% ionic as checked by two
labs. The T.E.M. photographs ($75.00 each run) show the size to be 1nm
to 8 nm.

I hve configured my spectrophotometer to measure Ag in ppm , NO3 in ppm,
and NO2 in ppm. I cannot measure silverparticles. that takes an AA, and
they are many kilobucks.

When you get Hanna readings about 100 then you are in the nitric acid
business.

I hope that I have answered you questions.

Yes I will test your product for all three items. The cost will be
$7.50 for the first sample and $5.00 foreach additional sample in the
same shipment. I will need about 2 oz. seal it well and place in a
ziplock baggy for extra security.

I have never heard of anyone getting electrocuted by this voltage. Likely
I came the closest but that was with the help

of lightning.

Depending on how much you want to make and what your goals are, I don't see
how anyone can do much better
that using the FREE voltage that sits everywhere waiting to be harnessed to
this application.

The time factor is much better than any 6, 12, 18, 24, or 27 volt
device. Unless one is using a current limiter or some device with control
ability, The 52 volt phone gen is ideal cheap, safe, and easy to use.

Many systems may be better, but not cheaper or more convenient .. or safer.

Evening Ken,

Don't you end up with about a pint or so? Of course, for folks who

produce his for themselves only, low voltage would appear to be the way
to go.

I make 1/2 gallon per batch with LVDC.I can use Terry's time method
as he makes 1 gallon ( per station ), and I make 1/2 gallon. Likely I
could parallel a few half gallons if the need ever arises.

My voltage being 1/2 of 110 volts ( or nearly so), if my spacing is
about the same, and I use 25% starter, I should be close enough to the
target. So what if I am a few ppm more or less? I don't sell any of this,
so the variation causes me no worry.

This typically does me one to two weeks, depending on how much I give away.

If you want gallons . then that will somewhat dictate your methods.

as they make electricity in volt-amps, and sell it in watts. For
companies that use a lot of power, the local utility will usually
insist that transformers and motors are of the high power factor
type. This keeps the current and voltage more in phase, and allows the
utility to charge properly for the energy consumed.

Wattage should never be used as a reference in making colloidal
silver, as it can change wildly. As an example, one of my HVAC units
can dump 900 watts into a batch. But, there is no corrolation between
the wattage of that and, say, a simple LVDC setup that produces the
same PPM in the same amount of time. The wattage on the LVDC unit will
be a fraction of the HVAC unit.

Re: CSCS wattage

2001-12-30 Thread Rich Adams
Here is my take on it...knowledge courtesy of the USN.

Power (P), measured in Watts is directly proportional to Voltage (E) and
current (I).

P=I * E, as one can see, if you change the voltage or current your changing
the value of power.

Also, P= (I * I) * R, where R equals the resistance in ohms. Again, one can
see by adjusting the resistance one will affect the power.

So, a wattage dial can actually be tweaking the resistance or voltage
component and labeled as such so one knows what watts they are trying to
adjust. Otherwise, they would have to impart the formulas to figure out
themselves.

So, when making CS, power, in watts, changes when the voltage is changed.
Another way power is changed if using a constant voltage source, the water
will get less resistive as brewing goes on, the current therefore will
increase and so will the power being consumed.

My $0.02.

Now, I just need to figure out how to make a stirring unit, one idea so far
is incorporating a 12v windshield washer pump, taking water from the top of
the jug and pushing it out at the bottom along the wall of the curved
glass.just an idea so far, my luck all the pumps will be metal.

Respectfully,
Rich Adams
rad...@kc.rr.com

You can have a dial for adjusting voltage or current
(amperage), but I've never heard of a wattage dial. In
making CS, you only need to regulate voltage and
current, not wattage. Wattage is a by-product of the
interaction of voltage, current and resistance, as
smoke or heat is of the activity of fire. Am I right,
 technical types?

CSFwd: Re: CS HVAC

2001-12-30 Thread billvan

Hi Bob,

I would like a detailed description of your unit as I have never heard of it.

The Motherlode is powered by a 15,000 V transformer encased in a white
metal box. Two high voltage leads are inserted into two jacks in the cover
of the one gallon brew container. these jacks are approx 5.5cm
apart. There are two 3/8 vent holes located just in front of these jacks.
Inside the cover one stainless steel wire drops down to a 16 ga silver
plate that has a wetted area of 3x5.5cm, the other stainless steel wire
goes to a silver wedge, with the pointed side down that is held approx .5cm
above the distilled water. Brew time determines strength of approx
3ppm/hour. I normally run three hours. Perfectly clear with a very light
to non existent tyndall effect.

When swished around in the mouth for 2 or 3 minutes it will etch your
teeth. It

can be buffered with potassium citrate. Be careful if you use bicarbonate of
soda as the CS will become sunlight sensitive and turn reddish in color.

How did you measure the pH? I use a digital pH meter.

I have been using an analog pH meter Made by Brookstone.

I really appreciate your input,

Bill

In that case, a glutathione precursor, Immunocal, is in order. It recycles
ALA, vitamin C, E, and peroxide, directly quenches free radicals, and is
instrumental in both breaking down and chelating toxins.

GSH is the body's main antioxidant, the only one created by the body. It is
being used on all of the other neurodegenerative disorders with very good
results. Any toxin that produces premature cell death will be dramatically
reduced by raising GSH levels.

I'd use it as well as the ALA, but be warned that ALA supplements can be
dangerous to people with mercury fillings.

The NAC Brooks mentioned does work somewhat but has a half-life of two
hours, can produce awful side effects at decent doses, and when withdrawn
the GSH levels plummet. It's really only useful to stop someone's liver from
liquefying during an overdose, and then only for a few days.

Selenium supplementation will help maximize whatever GSH he can produce.

CSSitchin, etc

2001-12-30 Thread Kevin Nolan
Some interesting observations, Chuck. That emoticon ;^) IS a puzzle - wonder
whether it is of ancient Sumerian origin? Which brings us to Zacharia Sitchin.
I have skimmed through his stuff at www.sitchin.com. Why only skimmed? Well,
his major premise of ancient extraterrestrial visitors (Anunnaki) from a 12th
planet Nibiru having a hugely eliptical orbit with a of period around 3600
years, presents a few basic problems. You see, spending so much time out in the
deeply frozen, dark, and comet bombarded regions of the outer solar system,
it's hard to imagine how any life could survive, let alone ever get going in
the first place - irrespective of whether you believe life evolves or is
divinely created. For a good introduction to the concept of 'habitable zones',
I would highly recommend reading the feature article Refuges for Life in a
Hostile Universe, appearing in the Oct 2001 issue of Scientific American (I
know, I know, establishment scientists - real weirdos - but sometimes they do
get it right). Anyhow, if the basic premise is whacky, I see little point in
going in-depth, and would prefer some more prosaic explanation of human
origins, ancient cataclysms, etc, than what Sitchin offers. A ripping good
yarn, but not to be taken too seriously, in my view. I comment on it here
because it serves as a good example of how to approach any radical idea - be it
to do with influences on CS making, ET origins or whatever. Check the basic
premises; if they fail to make sense, the whole edifice comes crashing down.
Often it may be hard to determine that, especially on a topic outside one's
expertise. So the best strategy is then to seek out any Con arguements, and
sift the total evidence - for and against. This may entail seeking others
opinions. Time consuming perhaps, but generally worth it in the end. It pays to
have a healthy skepticism. Just now, I have done a quick search on Sitchin, and
come up with the following con site;
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/8148/zindex.html. Happy reading. I DO
NOT WISH THIS MOSTLY OFF-TOPIC TO CONTINUE HERE. ANYONE MAY CONTACT ME OFF-LIST
IF THEY WISH TO DISCUSS IT FURTHER.

CSRe: Poinsettia CS

2001-12-30 Thread Dave Sawatzky
Hi Bob
Thank you for your excellent report. When you said that I probably had high
acid content I remembered that the stuff I gave my daughter was from a batch
that I rejected because I had run the arc to long and had something like 30
ppm. Whenever I have something I am not sure of I dump it in a jug and mark it
for agricultural use only. I assumed that it was simply ionic silver, am
surprised that I never heard about producing a highly acidic product with the
arc before.

To make HVAC with all of your electrodes wet is the first disaster. My
investigations of two wet (why 4?) was never able to make more that 9 ppm
(true not hanna stuff) and it would go yellow or dirty and have
silver drop out. So I abandoned that process.

I use four rods to reduce the current per rod to make the smallest particles
possible, also wetting 1/2 inch of each electrode gives more surface area
releasing the particles. I have experimented with different rod lengths wet
and found that 1/2 inch gave me the best results. But you are correct about the
ppm, I can not get above 4 ppm on the Hanna meter, and that is because with
that process I produce mainly particles. That is why I finish off with the
arc, I then stop it at 10-12 ppm.
My question to you is: What is the difference between arcing one rod for the
whole process or arcing 2 rods at the end to top off the ionic content. My goal
was to increase the particle ratio and I know I have accomplished that. I
suspect that either method would produce the same amount of nitric acid per rod
per hr.

I will attach a plot of one of my
run made on 11/6/01 and retested yesterday. It is quite revealing.

Sorry, I did not receive that.

HVAC ARC when there is a CO2 blanket makes a product that has structured
water and is almost totally ionic. Mine is 98+% ionic checked by two labs.
The T.E.M. photographs ($75.00 each run) show the size to be 1nm to 8 nm.

How do you create a CO2 blanket?
Also please explain the difference of NO2 and NO3 products.

I will take you up on your offer to test some samples and will try to get them
in the mail in about a week.

Thanks again for your helpful input.

The bottle says that to sweeten a cup of liquid one should dip a toothpick
