CSDeodorant

2010-10-11 Thread Bethany Methven
Has anyone ever played around with making a deordorant with ICS? If you could
find a good base, doesn't it seem that the ICS would keep the odor causing
bacteria from becoming a problem throughout the day?

I would LOVE some feedback on this.

Thanks - Bethany

three days so it lasts forever. dee

Baking soda burns my underarms. The Thai Stone makes a
horrible rash under my arms. I have to rotate regular deodorants
because they also end up making a rash under my arms. CS is very
wet and drippy and only lasts for about 4 hours, then must be
re-applied.

Thank you in advance.

You can also make your own if you purchase a bottle of GSE.
Dilute with distilled water 5 or 6 parts DW to one part GSE in an 8 ounce
spray bottle.
Spray on and massage into skin. Good for entire day, or more if you don't
shower.

I have tried using straight CS spritzed on. It works very well as a soother and
also as a
deodoriser but doesn't last long enough. three or four hours and I would have
to spritz again.

Several years ago I switched to using half and half bicarbonate of soda and
fine kitchen salt,
very much as Edith does. I wet some fingers, dab one into the salt/bicarb
mixture and rub
that onto the armpit. Repeat the other side. At first it didn't last 24 hours
but now a single
application does last round the clock. One could use CS as the wetting agent
and that should
be a heavy duty mix.

OK,
Tony

2010-10-11 Thread Jane MacRoss
Soap is residual and a film stays on the skin increasing possible bacterial
increase response to body fluids, that is if you use soap - I use a non
residual body wash - never smell of anything under my arms but am
vegetarian, dont drink alcohol or smoke - (and am not boring either LOL ) -
just saying that these several factors increase one's tendency to under arm
odour. I don't use a deodorant, but have Weleda's deodorant there (spray
liquid) just in case. They say that under arm odour is also related to
fear. You can smell the fear on people. But diet plays an important role
too.

I thought I would pass this along in case anyone is still looking for an
effective, cheap, and non-irritating deodorant.
I was using GSE mixed with distilled water as a spray.
This worked well, but GSE is starting to get very expensive.
So I switched just recently to Zinc Oxide ointment.
Right, the stuff that is used for diaper rash.
It is cheap, non-irritating, and works great.
Just smear a small dab under each arm in the morning and you are good to
go.
At least that has been my experience.

Excessive zinc absorption can cause nerve problems. [ Numbness or tingling]
Some denture adhesives contain zinc and have been pulled for that
reason...but it takes long term exposure to absorb zinc faster than it can
be eliminated and skin doesn't absorb anything as fast as a palate.

RE: CSDeodorant

2010-10-10 Thread ransley
I've been using zinc oxide (Desitin) for years now as my only deodorant. I
can't tell any kind of excess zinc uptake symptoms from it and I actually
take supplemental zinc from time to time to help heal various sprains and
such.

Now I DO have a problems with tingling mild numbness in both left hand and
left foot but both are old problems from old injuries and drinking enough
water helps both; they both come back to full feeling most of the time.

The hand goes numb when I sleep, it's from a neck injury and the feeling
comes back with water and movement. The foot goes numb from too much walking
especially in certain shoes, it's a hip injury and the feeling comes back
with rest.

Nope, don't think zinc is causing it.

BTW, in winter sometimes I can skip a day of underarm Desitin or maybe even
two days if it's cold enough and I don't sweat. The action lasts that long
even with daily washing so long as I don't over-scrub the underarms.

I used to have a terrible, awful problem with underarm odor. I used to have
to trim my underarm hair every month all year round. With my first taking of
ionic silver back in 2000, that was fixed, and from then on it was just
regular common daily bacterial underarm odor that I had to deal with. After
that I was able to control it with Mennen Speed Stick deodorant only, not
anti-per spirant.

And then I tried many alternatives to save money and stop filling up the
landfill with plastic. Zinc oxide in any form is cheap cheap cheap as a
deodorant. One tube lasts many months. My next trick will be to get a pound
of the powder and make my own with some mild oil or petrolatum.

Only one downer I've found- Zinc Oxide mixed with sweat on certain manmade
fiber shirts can actually make an odor that mimics bacterial underarm odor.
It's not bad, it leaves as soon as it dries, and it's on the fabric, not the
skin.

RE: CSDeodorant

2010-10-10 Thread starshar
This reminds me--I read my last issue (ever, as I'm not
renewing) of Dr Jonathan Wright's newsletter. He talked about an email
he received from a male reader who told him about this variation on zinc
oxide as a deodorant.
He told Wright that he rubbed it under his arms at night and he took his
shower in the morning. Said the deodorant effect lasted up to 3 days
(maybe he lives at the N Pole?)
Anyway, Wright was intrigued enough to try this himself and verified
that it was, indeed, a great deodorant.

Excessive zinc absorption can cause nerve problems. [ Numbness or
tingling]

Some denture adhesives contain zinc and have been pulled for that
reason...but it takes long term exposure to absorb zinc faster than it can
be eliminated and skin doesn't absorb anything as fast as a palate.

When I get out of the shower or bath and my arm pits are still a bit

Re: CSDeodorant, odor, and coconut oil, coconut milk and dairy products.

2010-05-09 Thread Rowena

Years ago Daddybob told the story of his very smelly dog; when DB fed
the dog the surplus coconut oil after frying his eggs, the dog became
bearable to be near, but when the coconut oil stopped, the smell started
again.

Coconut oil is now being marketed, at least here in Australia, in a form
for pets, which contains a higher proportion of the brown (skin)
fragments that tend to settle eventually in the bottom of the jar (and
is extremely rich in certain nutrients). Apart from its health benefits,
it works as a pet deodorant. And the health benefits are startling.
www.kokonutpacific.com.au has a page of information on this.

I seem to recall that Oriental nations find Westerners unpleasantly
odoriferous, and blame the kind of food they consume. Whether that is
so or not, I found that when I started using coconut oil my body odour
changed, and more so when I substituted coconut milk or cream for dairy
products. No more stink. Then whenever I bought dairy cream or milk
and used that instead of coconut, back came the western underarm odour.

Just to check what others were saying, I entered a search string dairy
food body odour in Google.

http://searchwarp.com/swa242467.htm said: There are two general causes
to an excess, offensive and or pervading sour smell body odor,
breath. One is *dairy,* especially milk, yogurt and cheese. The other
is the* stomach*.
Milk, yogurt and cheese are foods are sour foods. The digestion and or
deterioration of milk yogurt, etc. tends to produce a sour smell, body
odor, especially when eaten to excess. There are many cultures,
countries that eat little or no dairy, unlike Americans.
Those that consume milk, yogurt and cheese regularly, daily tend to have
a sour smell, body odor, breath if their digestion is poor, weak.

Other sites were saying similar stuff. One said that too much dairy
was at fault; my experience tends more to say hardly any.

Then when I added underarm to the search string, the comments got far
more specific...

Dorothy,

I rarely use deodorants, but Berts Bees makes a very effective one

I've never heard of that, and in fact cancer patients use it because it
so gentle. I suppose everyone responds differently to various things. I
personally use it but not often, I sometimes use my natural disinfecting
spray on my pits, that works too, at least several good hours of it. Or
in many cases, use nothing at all. I found the more I detox, and the
better my diet becomes, the less I stink. Raw food seems to keep you
from stinking too bad, at least I've noticed..

Potassium Alum is NOT aluminum... No component of that rock is large enough
to penetrate into the bloodstream, not going to happen. Natural crystals don't
contain any aluminum...

They make it in a Mist form, which is quite good. Although I rarely use
deodorant, and if I do, it's the rock or spray. I tend to think we're supposed
to sweat, you know? If I stink a little, that's someone elses problem, not
mine..

The ebay site above claims that the potassium alum in their deodorant
stones is nothing to do with aluminum
however I also found this site which says potassium alum IS a salt of
aluminum.

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Chemistry-including-Biochemistry-1355/Potassium-Alum.htm
Other sites claim the form of aluminum is what is important, and that
the aluminum chlorhydrate used in antiperspirants is the bad kind and
potassium alum is ok. I personally use a deodorant stone with potassium
alum, but I do believe it IS aluminum.

It's not, and regardless, the molecules are too large to pass into the

I will perfect a deodorant soon, it hasn't been a priority because I
don't even wear it half the time. I use soap I make that kills odors,

out after a year .. but it still works great.. and I had some gorgeous
frankincense natural oil deodorant from Lush [a fancy shop in the uk] and keep
it in the same bag.. so use that occasionally too.

Yes, they could kill the deodorant business but it's just a deodorant, like the
CS mixture and you know how fussy people are about sweat.. the patches around
their clothes etc.. if we can kill that fear, then we could kill the deathly
aluminium deodorant business!!

away... it isn't perfect, but it does seem to help.. I read oregano is a
general 'pesticide' when used in the garden to ward off pests from other
things!!! So I thought, maybe this will work on me!!

Also lemon balm dried leaves might be good too as they have citronella.

Re: CSDeodorant

2010-05-06 Thread Del
Yes, I had the same reaction to the stones, crystal, and also to all commercial
deodorants: break out in a red rash after a few days use.
Then I found that I could make an excellent deodorant from GSE (Grapefruit Seed
Extract).
I fill a spray bottle with about one fifth GSE and four fifths distilled water.
You may have to experiment a bit to find the best ratio for you.
Shake it up to dissolve the GSE in the water. It should foam a little at the
top, otherwise it is too weak.
Then spray it on and massage it into the skin. I have been using this for
several years with no allergic reaction.
In fact, I think it has kept my underarms healthier than they would otherwise
have been.

Hi

Was wondering if people are using CS as an underarm deodorant and also for

If so, is it the same strength ie about 10ppm or stronger?

Thanks

I tried it, but did not find it effective. Others have mentioned that they
did find it effective. Maybe mine was too weak? Anyway, I ended up using
250 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract in 8 oz distilled water in a spray
bottle, and that has been VERY effective, with no skin irritation.

Yes, I have tried using CS (10ppm) that I make with my SG6. It has not

I will try the CS again just to see if my earlier results are repeated.

CSdeodorant GSE

2003-11-18 Thread Shirley Reed
GSE stands for Grapefruit Seed Extract. You can get it at health or
vitamin stores. It is a liquid. Very thick. You might want to check the
site www.nitriteam.com as they have lots of info. Try not to let the name put
you off--this stuff is extremely potent. If you use it as a deodorant, be
careful not to get it too strong. Never use it full strength on the skin or
anywhere else as far as I know. If you do you will be sorry, and that for a
while!! Best wishes pj

CSDeodorant Salt and bicarb

2003-11-13 Thread Tony Moody
I have been using salt and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) as an
underarm anti-pong for years. Straight out of the shower I dab a
damp finger tip into the bottle of salt/bicarb and then into an armpit ;
repeat for the other 'pit. This usually lasts 24 hours at least.
Sometimes I might have to apply CS spray and/or dilute H2O2 If I
have gone through some heavy duty stress.

We used to be able to get an odourfree deodorant cream made by
Mitchums which was really good and also totally allergy free but
which became unobtainable for a while. This was advertised as a
three component natural deodorant. Rumour was that it had been
developed for the Israeli army The salt/bicarb is nearly as good.

Equal parts of ordinary fine kitchen salt and baking soda into a
bottle. Cap and shake to mix. I use about an ounce of the mixture
per month.

A fascinating theory by the brilliant Y. Omura, MD, is that the presence
of heavy metals in the brain provides, in effect, a protected breeding
grounds for pathogens. The diversity of these is remarkable -- herpes,
tuberculosis, and many others. See the links I have posted previously.
Omura believes that these metals can be readily removed by cilantro,
using various techniques to stimpulate uptake of the herb and also the
EPA/DHA fish oil used to destroy bacteria and viruses.

Omura also uses antibiotics in some cases. His work is not well-enough
known, and in my opinion will require the inquires of an informed
public to make any headway. In sort, people will need to demand use of
his methods in place of other methods.

CS makes an excellent deoderant. But don't confuse it with an
antiprespirant. They are not the same thing. If you have underarm BO,
CS will knock it out in about 5 seconds. But if you put it on, then
sweat it off, it will do no good at all.

I don't believe there is any conclusive evidence that it can cause
cancer, but then again the research could have been easily covered up by
the fda like so much other stuff.

The threory on it is that the body uses the sweat glands to expell
toxins. If you stop up the exit point, then the toxins will instead be
stored in the tissues of the breast, causing cancer.

It has nothing to to with aluminum directly, the theory would hold even
if you used tar or glue.

Re: CSdeodorant effective or not

2003-04-07 Thread Jim
I've read studies a few years ago where some believe that the aluminum
being absorbed through the skin may be the cause of breast cancer, the
study went on to show why more women get breast cancer than men, because
they shave their underarms and this makes it easier for the aluminum
oxide to seep through the skin. Don't they call it aluminum oxide
poisoning? I'm just going on what I've read a few years back, and it
made sense, there could be another side to that argument that I'm not
aware of.

I do know that like lead, aluminum shouldn't be ingested, and that is
why people are getting rid of their aluminum pots and pans. Put a sheet
of aluminum foil over any tomato based sauce so that it actually touches
the sauce, the next morning the aluminum foil will have holes in it and
the aluminum will be deposited on the sauce.

I got this info a few years ago, I had a customer that ran a very
large meals on wheels program in Maine NH. His company wouldn't allow
cooking in aluminum pots, because the aluminum would get into the food,
he ended up buying Stainless Steel pots from me, which was a one time
sale, the aluminum pots had to be replaced regularly due to pitting
when an acidic product was cooked. I obviously preferred to sell the
replaceable aluminum ones.

Re: CSdeodorant effective or not

It is fact that the brains of alzheimers patients have an elevated level of
aluminum
in them. It is unclear whether aluminum in the brain causes alheimzers, or if
the
disease causes accumulation of aluminum in the brain. Also it is unclear how
the
aluminum gets in the brain, since I believe it is suppose to be stopped by the
blood
brain barrier. Since there is a great deal of aluminum and aluminum compounds
around
us and in the soil, there is likely some other unidentified mechanism at work.

One of the latest things I read was that it could actually be caused by a prion.

Re: CSdeodorant effective or not

Slow down the making process, limit the current going to the anode and
you will end up with clear CS. I also use a fish tank aerator to keep
the DW moving while making it. I have no problem making 20 PPM very clear.

I read a report that blamed the aluminum in the deodorant as the cause
of cancer, especially with women who shave, the shaving makes it easier
for the aluminum to be absorbed through the skin.

Try a spray form instead of rock. The rash might have
been caused by mechanical microinjuries to the skin by
the rock. I've never had a rash from using using it
