Transforming IMAP folders into common folders
Hello, My problem is: how do I transform an IMAP folder into a common folder, when I don't have access to the imap server anymore? Hallo TBUDL, Op donderdag 18 december 2014, 12:38:36, schreef Luca: My problem is: how do I transform an IMAP folder into a common folder, when I don't have access to the imap server anymore? Changing a imap folder into a common folder is not possible. By its nature an imap folder is remote (stored on the server) whereas a common is local. (stored on your own computer) The solution would be to create a new common folder and copy your remote messages to that new folder. It seems I cannot even copy a single message from an IMAP folder to a different one, if I'm not connected to the IMAP server. But it looks like you've tried that already. IMAP is stored remote, if you cannot access the server, you cannot access the messages. There might be a workaround: the IMAP cache. Create a new common folder. Don't store any messages there. Switch to the imap folder you want to 'restore' From the menu: Folder - Properties Here you'll find the full path to the IMAP cache of that folder something like some path\accountname\IMAP\SDF456.TBB Write that down. Shut down TB Copy the TBB file to the directory matching with your recently created common folder and rename it to MESSAGES.TBB. As it was an empty foldeer there shouldn't be any MESSAGES.* in that directory, otherwise delete them beforehand. Start TB and switch to the common folder. If you're lucky you've got the messages. Might depend on what you've got stored in the imap cache. I didn't try this myself. In the future when you stop using an imap server, copy the messages before the actual stopping to your local message base. -- Groetjes, Roelof http://www.voormijalleen.nl/ Current version is 6.6 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Default outbox for common folders?
Hi All, Is there a way to determine the default outbox/account for Common Folders? The Reply header info is correctly set, however, the eMail consistently lands in the outbox of the first account created for TheBat. Details: The tree looks like @///GMX Inbox Outbox @///Strato Inbox Outbox ///CommonFolder Sub-Folder1 Sorting office correctly sorts the eMail into Sub-Folder1. I write a reply, and the Reply-To From header fields are set to the info for the Strato account, however, the Reply lands in ///GMX/Outbox. For some reason ;, GMX doesn't want to let the eMail go through and I have to manually move the reply over to ///Strato/Outbox to send it. I'm thinking that I've missed a setting somewhere, but perhaps I have to re-arrange my folders or create an outgoing rule to filter the reply over to the ///Strato/Outbox. -- TIA, David Win][k sp4 TheBat 3.0 Current version is 3.85.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Common folders/folders - hidden settings?
When I do: Folder Common Folder the new folder gets created in the left-most un-nested positionin he folders list. If I do Folder Folder it gets created as a sub-folder of whichever folder/account was highlighted at the time. In the last case, if I then right click and select Move Out, the sub-folder becomes un-nested. It then looks, in the list like a common folder. BUT does it have some hidden settings somewhere to make it still think it is a sub-folder of the account it happened to be created under - or does it actually just become a common folder because of its position in the list (un-nested, as opposed to Nested)? -- Marten Gallagher Annery Kiln Web Design www.annerykiln.co.uk Using The Bat! 3.62.14 with POPFile 0.22.1 on Windows XP 5.1 Current version is 3.62.14 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Version 3.0 but still my common folders disappear
Hi list, a couple of months ago all my common folders suddenly vanished. They are still in my mail folder, but fail to show in TB. Whenever I recreate them, they appear back, but just for the running session. When I close TB and reopen it, they are gone again. For instance: If I mark a message as junk, the common Junk folder introduces himself again at the bottom of my account list. Hurray! When I close TB and restart, the Junk folder is gone from the tree again - although it's still on the drive. I first experienced this problem with a 2.11 beta (maybe 2.10x) and upgrading to TB 3 did not solve the problem. Now, where might the reasons for this strange behaviour be found? Does anyone have any idea? I want my common folders back to stay! :-( Take care, Andreas -- My homepage: www.andreas-schwartmann.de | ICQ#: 23060752 PGP 8.0 key: www.andreas-schwartmann.de/pubring.pkr - Mailed with The Bat! 3.0 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 - Current version is 3.00.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Common Folders
Folders that don't belong to any account. As a one account person I've never seen any advantages for them, but YMMV. Thank you Roelof. I myself have 7 email accounts setup in The Bat!, each with their own folder structure. From what I understand, if I created a common folder, it would be displayed as if it was a separate email account, but being a folder, it would not have the properties of an email account? I'm trying to work out the best way of organising some of the folders under my main email account. A few of the folders don't technically belong to my main email account (ie the messages within them are from another account). When that old account was closed down, I simply dragged the folders from it to my new account. I'm thinking that (as long as I understand the common folder concept properly), that creating a common folder then just dragging the contents of the old folders to it may be more appropriate. Default Outbox for Common Folders
When I set up the TB, I started testing with my hi-spam-potential account, with the idea that if something goes wrong, no harm. Now I have some common folders set up, and it's causing a problem with new message replies (from those folders). The messages are automatically being put in the outbox of this spam account. I'd rather have common folders working with what I consider my default account, with the correct From:, To:, and transport (sent when I check my default account, not when I check my spam account). Can the outbox for common folders (or the choice of default account) be controlled somehow, or have I goofed there? Mother of all common folders Autocomplete cycler wanted
Hi all, What determines the 'mother account' of a common folder ? I've got 4 or 5 accounts and I've noticed that one specific account is used for sending messages from common folders. Consequently messages sent from such folders end up in the sent folder of an account which used to be my main account, but today is a minor account that I hope to stop using at some point. Is there a way to control this behaviour ? Another thing I've wondered about is whether the autocomplete results of the address field can be cycled somehow? You know, when I write the beginning of an address and autocomplete kicks in, often it picks one of several addresses beginning with that string - and often not the one I am looking for :) So far I've just had to keep on filling in the address until the string becomes unique.
