Importing or converting common folders into imap folders

2019-03-25 Thread Luca

I need a quick way to convert a tree of common folders into folders under an
IMAP account. Any idea? Drag and drop doesn't work that way.

Many thanx,

There might be a workaround: the IMAP cache.
 Create a new common folder.
 Don't store any messages there.
Switch to the imap folder you want to 'restore'
From the menu: Folder - Properties
Here you'll find the full path to the IMAP cache of that folder
 something like some path\accountname\IMAP\SDF456.TBB
 Write that down.
 Shut down TB
Copy the TBB file to the directory matching with your recently created
common folder and rename it to MESSAGES.TBB.

I get back here after some time. Thank you for this, it's working.

Just one question: what's the difference between .TBB/.TBN files and .EBB/.EBN
ones?

I find both kinds in the IMAP folders to be restored, so I need to rename
TBB/TBN as EBB/EBN when I copy them in the destination folder. Everything
seems to work, but I wonder what's the difference.

Tnx.

Transforming IMAP folders into common folders

2014-12-18 Thread Luca

Hello,

My problem is: how do I transform an IMAP folder into a common folder, when I
don't have access to the imap server anymore?

It seems I cannot even copy a single message from an IMAP folder to a
different one, if I'm not connected to the IMAP server.

Thanx.

Changing a imap folder into a common folder is not possible. By its
nature an imap folder is remote (stored on the server) whereas a
common is local. (stored on your own computer)
The solution would be to create a new common folder and copy your
remote messages to that new folder.

It seems I cannot even copy a single message from an IMAP folder to a
different one, if I'm not connected to the IMAP server.

But it looks like you've tried that already.
IMAP is stored remote, if you cannot access the server, you cannot
access the messages.
As it was an empty foldeer there shouldn't be any MESSAGES.* in that
directory, otherwise delete them beforehand.
Start TB and switch to the common folder.
If you're lucky you've got the messages.
Might depend on what you've got stored in the imap cache.
I didn't try this myself.

In the future when you stop using an imap server, copy the messages
before the actual stopping to your local message base.

Thanks for your clarifying 2p. With so many icons available I don't

That message was after the picture. The unnamed common folders were
reflecting the contents of the common junk folder (created by
AntiSpamSniper). When I delete the contents of the junk folder, the
contents of the junk folder under the common folders is also deleted.
If I delete the junk folder, then the three common folders still
remain without a way to delete.

I am sorry but I don't use AntiSpamSniper, so I can't even try to

Maybe you can try something, but it is up to you to do it. Remove

Hello Richard,

Attached is a picture of my folder tree with included three common
folders that only reflect a trash folder. How can I get rid of
 (delete) the common folders?

Right click on each folder and select Delete from context menu, or just
hit Delete key after selecting folder in the tree. Doesn't that do it?

Default outbox for common folders?

2006-09-25 Thread David Earl
Hi All,

Is there a way to determine the default outbox/account for Common
Folders? The Reply header info is correctly set, however, the eMail
consistently lands in the outbox of the first account created for
TheBat.

Details:
The tree looks like
@///GMX
Inbox
Outbox
@///Strato
Inbox
Outbox
 ///CommonFolder
Sub-Folder1

Sorting office correctly sorts the eMail into Sub-Folder1. I write a
reply, and the Reply-To From header fields are set to the info for
the Strato account, however, the Reply lands in ///GMX/Outbox. For
some reason ;, GMX doesn't want to let the eMail go through and I
have to manually move the reply over to ///Strato/Outbox to send it.

I'm thinking that I've missed a setting somewhere, but perhaps I have
to re-arrange my folders or create an outgoing rule to filter the
reply over to the ///Strato/Outbox.

I tried with 3.0.2.10 (the last 3.0 beta) and it works there. So it should
work in 3.0.1.33 (the last 3.0 stable). I don't have anything in between
these and the current 3.62.14 stable here to test it.

Okay, I created a common folder and performed some tests (only folder
identity in a new message)
3.0.2.10 was fine
3.51.5 was fine
3.60.07 was fine
I had no other versions ready to use and I almost know for sure that
3.60.07 was a public release and no beta. I've still got the .msi
available over here and there must have been a reason that I still
have the executable in my TB program directory, so I guess it was

Common folders/folders - hidden settings?

2005-11-17 Thread Admin at AK
When I do:

Folder Common Folder

the new folder gets created in the left-most un-nested positionin he folders
list.

If I do Folder Folder

it gets created as a sub-folder of whichever folder/account was highlighted at
the time.

In the last case, if I then right click and select Move Out, the sub-folder
becomes
un-nested. It then looks, in the list like a common folder.

BUT does it have some hidden settings somewhere to make it still think it is a
sub-folder
of the account it happened to be created under - or does it actually just
become a common
folder because of its position in the list (un-nested, as opposed to Nested)?

You see, I use both. IIRC the value for REPLY-TO is taken from FROM if

If not specified, the reply-to header should be empty, really. Doesn't make
any sense to use it, unless the replies should go to somewhere else but the
from address, does it? And then again, for mailinglists this doesn't make
much sense either, if it is a discussion list the listmailer will most
likely re-write the reply-to to the list address.

Version 3.0 but still my common folders disappear

2004-09-01 Thread Andreas Schwartmann
Hi list,

a couple of months ago all my common folders suddenly vanished. They
are still in my mail folder, but fail to show in TB.

Whenever I recreate them, they appear back, but just for the running
session. When I close TB and reopen it, they are gone again.

For instance: If I mark a message as junk, the common Junk folder
introduces himself again at the bottom of my account list. Hurray!

When I close TB and restart, the Junk folder is gone from the tree
again - although it's still on the drive.

I first experienced this problem with a 2.11 beta (maybe 2.10x) and
upgrading to TB 3 did not solve the problem.

Now, where might the reasons for this strange behaviour be found?

Does anyone have any idea? I want my common folders back to stay! :-(

Take care,
Andreas

Re: Common Folders

Folders that don't belong to any account.
As a one account person I've never seen any advantages for them, but
 YMMV.

Thank you Roelof. I myself have 7 email accounts setup in The Bat!, each with their
own folder structure. From what I understand, if I created a common folder, it would
be displayed as if it was a separate email account, but being a folder, it would not
have the properties of an email account? I'm trying to work out the best way of
organising some of the folders under my main email account. A few of the folders don't
technically belong to my main email account (ie the messages within them are from
another account). When that old account was closed down, I simply dragged the folders
from it to my new account. I'm thinking that (as long as I understand the common
folder concept properly), that creating a common folder then just dragging the
contents of the old folders to it may be more appropriate.

Chris

Don't you see a 'Deletion' tab towards the end of the tabs in the
common folder properties? I see it here. Or is this a beta thing? I
don't have a v2.12 going here.

Under that tab, toggle on 'Use folder specific deletion settings' and
you can archive messages.

Yes, I would have expected that had the tab been there, thanx. Is there any other way

I have three mail accounts, and everything that belongs to certain
cathegories (like mailinglists, newsletters, friends family, etc.) goes
to common folders (or virtual common folders) so I don't have to watch
three inboxes. Only when a message fails classification I have to look into
the normal inbox folder. Using virtual folders makes searching for messages

Default Outbox for Common Folders

2004-08-12 Thread David Earl
When I set up the TB, I started testing with my hi-spam-potential account, with the
idea that if something goes wrong, no harm.

Now I have some common folders set up, and it's causing a problem with new message
replies (from those folders). The messages are automatically being put in the outbox
of this spam account. I'd rather have common folders working with what I consider my
default account, with the correct From:, To:, and transport (sent when I check my
default account, not when I check my spam account).

Can the outbox for common folders (or the choice of default account) be controlled
somehow, or have I goofed there? (I know I can set the default the identity, but that
doesn't solve the transport issue.)

Hello Alexander,

Account - Properties - General - Checkbox This
Account - account is the default
ASK for MAILTO:; ... will make the account the default account for common
ASK folders, too. Its a bit misleading, indeed. :-)

Yes, that works! I was afraid that I might have to re-install.

Misleading is ok. The TB documentation could be better. Oh well. I'm a dumb new user
;) The user base is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and that's what counts.

Greetings All,

When a common folder is selected, and a new message is created, the

Common folders have left the building ... :-(

2004-06-09 Thread Andreas Schwartmann
Hello,

after having some trouble with my my Windows installation and file
system repairs with chkdsk, all my common folders are suddenly gone!
They are still on the disk, I can even import messages through the
import function, but they are not shown in TB.

Whenever I recreate them, the next time I restart TB they will be gone
again.

Any idea what may be wrong?

Take care,
Andreas

Mother of all common folders Autocomplete cycler wanted

2004-04-19 Thread Johnny Skaaning
Hi all,

What determines the 'mother account' of a common folder ? I've got 4
or 5 accounts and I've noticed that one specific account is used for
sending messages from common folders. Consequently messages sent from
such folders end up in the sent folder of an account which used to be
my main account, but today is a minor account that I hope to stop
using at some point. Is there a way to control this behaviour ?

Another thing I've wondered about is whether the autocomplete results
of the address field can be cycled somehow? You know, when I write the
beginning of an address and autocomplete kicks in, often it picks one
of several addresses beginning with that string - and often not the
one I am looking for :) So far I've just had to keep on filling in the
address until the string becomes unique. But I really like
autocomplete and I miss a way to cycle through the results of
autocomplete. Is it there ?

Yes. Use Ctrl-Plus to cycle the results.

MW Could it be 'This account is the default for mailto:; URLs' in account
MW properties?

I didn't even remember this setting. Actually, none of my accounts
were checked to be default for mailtos. However, after setting this
preference it works like I asked: mail from common folders are now
sent via my chosen account. Thanks a lot !

Common Folders

2004-02-06 Thread shemming

I have a setup that I've used for a while that uses a lot of common
folders. The thing is that over time the need for common folders has
rather gone away and I could just as easily manage with account
folders.

So, to the point, are common folders and regular folders functionally
equivalent and can I just move my common folders to the relevant
accounts with impunity?

Under Options - Network and Administration you'll find a tab 'Groups'.
It'll allow you to define user names and define access to a defined
selection of your accounts. Since I experienced some peculiarity with
group settings earlier on the day (I played with it to see what would
happen and found myself at first unable to log on) I decided I would
not do any harm if I'd deleted this configuration file as well.
