[tw] Saving via WebDAV the easy way

2018-03-04 Thread Tristan Kohl
Hey guys,

as I tried various ways for storing a big amount of wikis on my limited
hardware I came across the WebDAV capabilities and gave them a try as well.
Mario's videos were great but since I do not own any Microsoft license
whatsoever this was no option. However I tried it with my favourite open
source webserver Caddy which I tell you is an
awesome peace of software by itself. But combining it with TW makes using
TWs over network a child's play since Caddy has WebDAV build in already.

Here are the steps to follow:

   1. Go to Caddy download page
   2. Select the webdav plugin (documentation
) and personal license and hit
   download
   3. Unzip the archive we only need the executable which we put in the
same directory as the wikis we want to serve
   4. Create a text file called "Caddyfile" *with capital "C"* and write
   these two lines in it*:*

:8000

webdav

That's it, just execute the caddy file via a terminal and you are set. No
configuration or anything else.

A wiki called mywiki.html is available
via http://[IP_OF_THE_SERVER]:8000/mywiki.html.

I hope this helps some of you, I will play around with it for a while now
and see how it compares to the other solutions I am testing.

Cheers,

Tristan

[tw] Saving behaviour of a wiki on Tiddlyspot?

2018-01-26 Thread 'Surya' via TiddlyWiki
Hi all,

fine frustrated

Yesterday I made a lot on my (public) wiki on tiddlyspot. Then before going
to bed I had a look into it on my tablet and changed just a little bit. I
saved that (with the checkmark) and thought that it would be just saved on
web- like on my computer.
But it was downloaded.

I didn't want that, so I deleted that download on Android.

Today going again on this tiddlyspot-wiki I am shocked- everything I made
yesterday is gone!
*I guess, there is no way to get back all the things of yesterday?*

Also I'd like to know now:
How is the normal behaviour of such a public wiki on tiddlyspot:
When another person visits that site and looks into a tiddler to see the
"construction" of it or changes something for testing purposes (as I did it
so many times in other public wikis- it helped me already a lot for
understanding).
a) How does the wiki behave, if the person *doesn't click* the
save-checkmark after that?
b) How does the wiki behave, if the person *clicks* the save-checkmark
after that?

Surya

[tw] Saving Tiddlywiki on Android with Tiddlyfox works

2017-11-19 Thread James A Bernard
As a short term solution this works:
Download and install Waterfox from their website - not the version on
Google play as it is not the same.
Download TiddlyFox-1.0alpha18.xpi (2.0.1 won't work on android)

These may not be needed (but I did them!) - try without and let us know
open waterfox and enter:
about:config
Change settings to:
xpinstall.signatures.required = false
extensions.autoupdate.enable = false

Enter the file directory where you saved the xpi file into the address bar
(eg. file:///storage/emulated/0/Download/ )
Touch on the xpi file - you'll get a diog box saying "blocked Addon and a
choice: dismiss or allow
Touch allow
Another box "Unverified addon" with cancel or install
touch install
Once installed you'll be asked to restart waterfox.
do so and all should work

This worked for me, your mileage may differ

Re: [tw] Saving in Safari

2017-07-24 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Josiah & Mark,

Most of my TWs are scattered over a separate HD and/or Dropbox.
In Dropbox I use a TW5 folder (and a few subfolders)
Mainly I use Firefox with TiddlyFox. For uploading my guides to TiddlySpot
I use Chrome.
Sometimes I use TiddlyDesktop (handy to have a different TW open next to
the one in Firefox) and node.js (I still don't see the benefits for my
normal use).

In short: the Firefox/Tiddlyfox combination works the best for me.

I just tried Chrome with "Downloads Overwrite Existing Files" to see if I
could use another directory than the download directory (where Mark had his
doubts about).
I changed the download location to my TW5 Dropbox folder which than works
for (auto)saving TW.
For sure it is only handy when you stick to one folder otherwise you cannot
use autosave in Chrome.

Cheers,

Ton

Re: [tw] Saving in Safari

2017-07-24 Thread Sergei Gerasenko
Thanks for the responses. I’m now testing a solution with Hammerspoon (which
works only on Mac), but basically it allows me to watch the Downloads directory
and run a custom action. The action can be renaming those -1,-2 files or
copying the latest one somewhere.

Before, I was using Chrome and an extension to overwrite previously downloaded
files.

[tw] Saving TiddlyWikis online?

2017-04-22 Thread Dave Gifford - http://www.giffmex.org/
Hi all,

Just trying to understand my options for hosting TiddlyWiki 5's online. I
would like to save

a) 10-15 tiddlywikis
b) that I can open and edit and save changes via my Windows laptop or my
ipad and have the changes visible to either device
c) that is secure
d) without having to learn about databases
e) preferably, though not necessarily, the ability to permalink tiddlers
and share them (view only, not edit)

It looks as thought Tiddlyspot is not very secure, but otherwise meets the
other criteria. So I think I want to pass on that option.

Noteself looks promising, I think, but is confusing to me: 1) it says I can
save multiple TWs but since the url is always the same, it is not clear how
to move from one to the other, and whether saving a new one will also
include there all the tiddlers saved to date in the current one. 2) It
looks like the only way to sync between devices is to already have a couch
database. I assume this means I need to do a whole learning curve re Couch
databases to create one. I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. 3)
Since the noteself url is always the same, it isn't clear how I would share
a tiddler's permalink with others.

I have my own website and could store TiddlyWikis there, and often do. But
is there a plugin for setting up online use that I could use to edit and
save changes to them when out and about working from my ipad? Some way to
host it online but where if I have the username and password, I can edit
it? I recall Udo had something that worked like that for TW classic.

Blessings,

Dave

[tw] Saving local --> TiddlySpot ...not working?

2017-02-04 Thread Mat
Ref docs on Saving on TiddlySpot
 -

I fail to upload a *local *copy of TW (5.1.13/14) to an existing TiddlySpot
using on Chrome 56 (released 1-2 weeks ago)

Can someone please confirm?

Is this because of new measures with Chrome *56*? Any ideas what to do?

Here is a simple solution to load an EMPTY TW to a new TiddlySpot

i.e not to upload a locally stored TW

   1. Make sure you have registered a TiddlySpot
   2. Go to the official empty edition
    of TW
   3. Fill in the fields under *ControlPanel > Saving* and Save

You can also prepare your favorite "base TW setup" on TiddlySpot (preferred
settings, fav plugins installed etc) and use this instead of the empty
edition.

[tw] Saving from tiddlyspot to local fs in android

2016-07-13 Thread Carlos Pita
I found out that when I open the tw from a dropbox cloud folder in es file
explorer, then esfx creates a local copy, open it in the browser and autosync
the changes. After going offline and returning online it's necessary to save
the file again though, since esfx doesn't seem to detect the change in the
connection state. This is a nice workaround because I don't depend on a
dedicated dropbox sync tool (I never had pleasant experiences with them on
android).

[tw] Saving from tiddlyspot to local fs in android

2016-07-13 Thread Carlos Pita
Hi all,

I'm new to tw and I'm having some hard time trying to figure out how to do the
following:

1. I've download an empty tw5 to my local fs in an android device.
2. I've saved this tw to tiddlyspot.
3. Once in tiddlyspot I've configured the tw to save to the server, which it
does fine.
4. Now I would like to work offline for some hours so I want to download a
copy, edit it and finally upload it to tiddlyspot.
5. The problem is: there is no download button, save now means save to
tiddlyspot (I guess I could delete the user/pass in the panel control to force
local saving). Chrome in android doesn't offer a save-as function AFAICS.

Is there a workaround? Should I use ff?

Thank you in advance

[tw] Saving TW files locally fails on a linux box

2016-01-14 Thread Alex S. Garcia
I recently had to upgrade my entire system and now I can no longer save changes
when I edit a tiddly file.

It's very odd, because I installed a plugin that allows me to work on my files
remotely,
and when using that I can save data just fine. But doing it from localhost
fails with the
following message:

It's not possible to save changes. Possible reasons include:
- your browser doesn't support saving (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and
Opera all
work if properly configured)
- the pathname to your TiddlyWiki file contains illegal characters
- the TiddlyWiki HTML file has been moved or renamed

I've tried with different browsers (Firefox, Vivaldi and Opera) but they all
return that
same error.

And it's not the pathname (besides, it's the same as before, and it worked fine
in the
past).

And I haven't moved any of the files around, so it's not that third thing
either.

I'm suspecting perhaps a permission issue, but I've tried everything I could
think of to
no avail.

My tiddly folder is owned by my user (likewise for the group) and the
permissions are
set to drwxrwxr-x.

The contents of that folder are also owned by my user, with permissions set to -
rwxrwxr-x.

/var/www & /var/www/html are both owned by root:root (drwxr-xr-x).

What am I missing here?

On a side note, I made apache a member of my user's group so that it could have
access.

Any thoughts/leads would be appreciated!

Alex.

[tw] Saving a TiddlyWiki uploaded to personal webhost.

2015-11-17 Thread Joshua Galan
Hello,

TiddlyWiki novice here. I am using a Google Chrome browser and have
uploaded a relatively new TiddlyWiki index.html file onto a personal web
host of mine. Whenever I click on the "save changes" icon, it prompts me to
save the index.html file onto my computer. This is extremely inconvenient
as it would require me to re-upload the most current index.html file *every
single* time I make a modification that is saved.

Is there anyway to have changes saved directly to the index.html on my
server?

Thanks for your help.

[tw] Saving my TiddlyWiki File

2015-11-09 Thread Christoph
Hello!

I am sure this question has been asked before but I don't seem to find the
right answer so solve the Problem.

I am using TiddlyWiki (I guess TiddlyWiki-Classic) for some years now. With
the installation of the IE11 saving doesn't work anymore.
I recieve a Statement "Failed to save main TiddlyWiki file. Your changes
have not been saved".
The TiddlyWiki HTML-Document is the 0KB of size and a blank page.

Changing back to the old IE-Version is not an option (Company policy).

Does anyone have a solution for this Problem?

Thanks,
Christoph.

[tw] Saving TW with sidebar section closed

2015-09-14 Thread Atul Grover
Dear all,

When I save TW5 from the "save changes" (tickmark icon), TW5 reopens with
the sidebar open. I want to change this last state of TW5, so that it opens
with sidebar closed.

If I close the sidebar and try saving TW5 with "save page as" mechanism,
the browzer changes the name of the page to "Title - Subtitle", I don't
want to save page with this name.

So how does one save the TW5, such that it opens with sidebar closed?

Regards
Atul

[tw] Saving articles in tiddlywiki

2015-09-08 Thread Ben H.
At some point I will be trying to do the same thing. What would be really cool
is if there was a way to automatically important the contents of emails as
tiddlers. Setup a folder or tag on the mail server, and then use some plugin to
connect to the mail server and import the contents of the designated folder or
tag.

[tw] Saving articles in tiddlywiki

2015-09-07 Thread RunningUtes

I've been thinking lately about storing full text articles in a tiddlywiki.
Right now I'm using Pocket to save the links.

My current thoughts on the process:
1. Export the links from pocket using https://getpocket.com/export
2. Use wget to grab all the articles and images (wget -i ExportedPocketURLs.txt)
3. Clean up the article like pocket. This is the step that is giving me an
issue.
4. Drag and drop all the files into a tiddlywiki

Another option I'm toying with is to:
1. Tag articles in pocket with "Save" tag
2. Use IFTTT to save articles with the "Save" tag to an Evernote notebook
3. Export Evernote articles to html
4. Drag and drop all the files into a tiddlywiki

Has anyone had any luck with something that works?

[tw] saving Node.js-served wiki to Tiddlyspot directly

2015-04-28 Thread Rustem
What would be the most direct way to upload my node.js-served wiki to
Tiddlyspot? Do I need to save my wiki as a single file first, before I can
successfully upload it to Tiddlyspot? Or can I somehow switch to the
appropriate saver temporarily, just for the upload?

I tried to follow the instructions
(http://tiddlywiki.com/#Saving%20on%20TiddlySpot) directly, nothing
happens. It says saving, but tiddlyspot remains unchanged, presenting a
default TWC.

To be clear, I am not interested in any kind of back-and-forth
synchronization. Strictly one-way publishing to TS. I'm happy maintaining
the wiki using node.js.

[tw] Saving just re-downloads the file. How to re-configure the save option?

2015-03-13 Thread Priyesh
I'm using google chrome as my browser. Whenever I save my tiddler, it just
re-downloads the file to my default downloads folder. I've seen numerous
people recommend workarounds (download this app, download this java
applet), but none of them seem to work, and none of them really provide
thorough instructions.

What does it take to just have it save to a folder of my choice?

[tw] Saving

2015-03-02 Thread David Moore
Hi there, I have been using 2.6 for years now and decided it was time to
upgrade, the saving of the page always annoyed me, and I assumed this might
be fixed by now.

However having downloaded the latest version, (which looks great by the
way), it seems the same. However I do notice some instructions which would
imply it's fixed, but I can't see how to implement them.

Getting Started says TiddlyWiki http://tiddlywiki.com/#TiddlyWiki on
Google Chrome can only save changes using the HTML5-compatible fallback
saver module.

However I don't see how to install this module, there is no link to it, and
no other reference to it in the instructions. Therefore saving the file
results in a new file (empty (2).html etc)
I tried in IE as well, however it does the same thing.

Are there any instructions on how to get the page to save, without saving a
copy, and then remembering to open the copy next time...?

Thanks

Dave

[tw] Saving in TiddlyWiki 5.1.7 (Node.js) under Linux Mint 17.1 with Firefox and Chromium does not work for me

2015-02-04 Thread peterrun4fun
Hi Tiddlywiki-User,

I am new Tiddlywiki-User and installed the Node.js version 5.1.7 under
Linux Mint 17.1.

I get the server up and running.
I get the first page in the browser. That means the client-server
communication is working.

But it did not save any tiddler I add.

I thought it would automatically save the tiddler in text file on the
server.
But I don't get an error message in the browser, the consolte I startet the
server or see some new files on the server.

Do I have to configure something in the browser or the tiddlywiki.info file?

Best Regards

Peter

Re: [tw] Saving my Wiki online

2015-01-18 Thread Daniel Baird
We (by which I mean, the tiddlyspot people) put a Download button into your
wiki, but sometimes different themes or whatever cover it up. It just
links to:

http://YOUR-SITE-NAME-HERE.tiddlyspot.com/download

..so if you go to that URL, perhaps by typing the /download bit onto the
end of the site URL you're already looking at, you'll get a download prompt.

(It's really just a link to your wiki, but we add a header to the server's
reply to tell your browser to save it instead of opening it.)

The right-click-and-download thing works perfectly also.

Cheers
Daniel

[tw] Saving problems, special characters disappearing and corrupting backup saves.

2014-06-02 Thread Nikolaï Samarine
Hi everyone!
Since yesterday, my tiddlywiki is acting very strangely, leading to a
massive loss of data.

First of all, I use Internet explorer for the wiki, because it can't save
on Firefox (don't know why) andI use my wiki to compile a lot of
informations about my games, and need to work on big groups of
informations, leading to a tilder in particular, which takes almost 20
seconds to open. I suspected it to be the source of the problem, but I
tested a bit: it's not.
Yesterday, when I opened my wiki to work on it, it showed me strange
squares instead of the special symbols (I'm french, so I use a lot of
éèàêç, etc...), which worked perfectly well up to that day.
I tried to open a backup, to see that it was corrupted the same way... in
fact, all my backups in the same folder were corrupted. And in addition to
that, I couldn't save the changes anymore.
I opened another (much older) backup from a USB disk, and started to change
it with the modifications in the data, but it became corrupted as well!
What is happening??

Re: [tw] Saving problems, special characters disappearing and corrupting backup saves.

2014-06-02 Thread Daniel Baird
Sounds like something is messing with your page source.

You get this sometimes with helpful security products -- either something
you have installed, or if you're at work it could be something your IT
department has added to their firewall/proxy setup. To check that, try
disabling (temporarily) your local security programs, and if you're in a
corporate environment talk to your IT people.

It could also be malicious software messing with you, so also update all of
your security software and run a thorough scan.

The third option is some browser update has changed how the browser handles
unicode, or whether your wiki is considered intranet (which to IE means
run in old-fashioned IE6 mode). Check that by looking at the page
properties or something and see if your wiki is being rendered in
compatibility mode or something like that.

Good luck
;Daniel

[tw] Saving Changes

am using Chrome and when I hit download it downloads a new copy of the

used for the content. Is there some setting I am missing?

Re: [tw] Saving Changes

Hi eagle0877

That's how saving works in Chrome, I'm afraid. It's a clumsy process but it
has the advantage of working in any HTML5-compliant browser.

You can slightly improve the user experience by visiting Chrome settings
and selecting to prompt for the location of each download. With that
setting on, each time you click save, the browser will prompt with a file
save box so that you can select your existing HTML file and overwrite it.

But you can avoid these problems by using Firefox with the TiddlyFox
extension or TiddlyDesktop (see tiddlywiki.com for links), both of which
let you seamlessly save changes without prompts. There's also the TWEdit
app for iOS and the AndTidWiki app for Android.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

[tw] Saving Tiddlywiki Classic on Chrome (browser) and Chrome OS

2014-03-11 Thread Andrew Ashling
Okay, if this has been mentioned already, just ignore me or delete this
entry.

I just installed Chrome on my fresh install of Mint Petra, Cinnamon Edition
(based on Ubuntu 13.10, IIRC)

I work with a cluster of linked TWs, grouped in one folder, together with
TddlySaver.jar.

I managed to save changes in TWs by installing a plugin called User-Agent
Switcherhttps://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg.

Basically it can make Chrome behave as Firefox, Safari, Opera, IE and a few
more.

And it works… The post I found this in, was actually about Chrome OS, so,
since it works on Chrome browser, it should also work on Chromebooks,

The behavior is slightly different though than what I'm used to. Instead of
saving a new copy, it saves the changed file over the old one.

I give this information as is, in hopes it can help someone. I have to
stress though that I'm hardly a specialist, so if there's any interest,
some people with more knowledge and experience than I have should try to
replicate my findings.

Cheers,

Andrew

Re: [tw] Saving with 5.08beta

2014-03-05 Thread HowardM
Hi Jeremy
Hi Jeremy

I do use TWEdit. My question came from assessing whether to change to TW5
(once out of beta) on my iPad Mini.I have a large TW file (3.6mb) which
is slow to save on the iPad (30 secs+) using TWC but using autosave on TW5
is quicker for a small number of changes (I am using a roughly converted
version of the TWC file for tests). When asking the question I didn't
realise that the short delay in closing amended TW5 tiddlers was due to the
default autosave setting.

When to save is an issue for me because, since the upgrade to iOS7, TWEdit
from time to time reloads the file when I return to it, losing any unsaved
changes - I don't think this is a TWEdit issue because it didn't do it on
iOS6 and some other apps now do this, though their much smaller file sizes
makes it unimportant.

I must say that I am very impressed with TW5 so far, though the conversion
cost is still an issue.

Thanks for your helpful reply

Regards

Howard

Hi Howard

That makes sense. I'm in contact with the TWEdit developer and our plan is
to support tiddler-level sync as an alternative to saving the entire
document. It's partly in response to your findings about iOS7
unceremoniously closing apps: we really need autosave to protect ourselves,
and yet as you've found autosave with a large TW can be slow.

Best wishes,

The tiddler-level sync mechanism is already present in TW5. It is used in
the browser to sync tiddlers to a TiddlyWeb-compatible server, and on the
server to sync tiddlers to the file system.

We can't use the tiddler sync mechanism to save changes when running
standalone in the browser because we don't have access to file APIs. But
the plan is to use it with TWEdit, TiddlyDesktop and possibly TiddlyFox.

Not at present. I'd like to write an extension like TiddlyFox for Chrome,
but unfortunately Chrome's sandboxed file access model for extensions would
mean that it would be a lot less useful: your files would live inside
Chrome, and you'd have to download them out of the sandbox to do anything
else with them.

If you really want to use Chrome then your best bet may be to run TW5 under
Node.js; you get a lot more flexibility that way.

There is a build of node.js that doesn't need to be installed, just double

Not at present. I'd like to write an extension like TiddlyFox for
Chrome, but unfortunately Chrome's sandboxed file access model for
extensions would mean that it would be a lot less useful: your files would
live inside Chrome, and you'd have to download them out of the sandbox to
 do anything else with them.

If you really want to use Chrome then your best bet may be to run TW5
under Node.js; you get a lot more flexibility that way.

 Jeremy.

[tw] Saving TiddlyWiki using Firefox ESR series

2013-09-05 Thread aikempshall
Hi All

I've started to get problems saving my TiddlyWiki. Get this message

It's not possible to save changes. Possible reasons include:
- your browser doesn't support saving (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari
and Opera all work if properly configured)
- the pathname to your TiddlyWiki file contains illegal characters
- the TiddlyWiki HTML file has been moved or renamed

I've got the Addon TiddlyFox installed.

I last successfully saved it on 1st August 2013 using FireFox 21.

Because of other reasons I've reverted to FireFox esr 17 series. Currently
on 17.0.8esr, same problem with 17.0.7esr.

I've proved that Firefox 23.0.1 saves the TiddlyWiki successfully. So the
problem looks like with the esr series.

Any suggestions?

Alex

Hi Roger

You might want to try using TiddlyFox, a Firefox extension that allows
TiddlyWiki to save changes locally. There's more information on
tiddlywiki.com. Install the extension by visiting this URI in Firefox:

[tw] TW saving problem with new versions of Firefox (and, maybe, Chrome)

2013-01-22 Thread Sergey Shidlovsky
Hello, TW fellows! =)

I want to discuss a problem that I've got when my Firefox was automatically
updated to version 17 or so, I think. After that any changes that I make in
my TiddlyWiki, causes a warning window to appear with standard text about
impossible saving:

It's not possible to save changes. Possible reasons include:
- your browser doesn't support saving (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari
and Opera all work if properly configured)
- the pathname to your TiddlyWiki file contains illegal characters
- the TiddlyWiki HTML file has been moved or renamed

The problem is that prior to upgrading, all was okay -- Firefox could save
my TW file anytime; pathname of TW file allowed to save the file before; I
didn't move the TW file anywhere. =)

Please, give me advice where to search for solution? Thanks in advance.

P.S. I have read a comment about changing prefs.js file contents to get the
possibility to save -- it's not my case, there's granted in corresponding
place.

[tw] Saving bookmarks web clippings to TW with one click?

2011-09-29 Thread Mad Scientist Jr
Has anyone figured out a way to send bookmarks / clippings / etc. to
TiddlyWiki, similar to Evernote?

So when you're browsing a Web page you want to save, click bookmarks
MyTwBookmarklet, and it will

# open up an input box that prompts you to enter any tags and lets you
edit the title (from page's TITLE tag)
## maybe you delimit them with a semicolon or some character, or
## 2 separate prompts, or
## popup an HTML form with various fields
### sendto address (pre-populated in bookmarklet code, you can
override)
### title (from page TITLE tag)
### tags dropdown with pre-populated tags
# click submit
# emails a purestore XML tiddler to your address, containing
## subject line with
### text to let you identify the message as a tiddler (or embed this
info in your email address, like gmail lets you do, ie myaddress
+my...@gmail.com)
### page title
## the current page's URL
## plain or rich text/HTML contents of the clipboard if anything is
selected
# closes the popup (if a form is used)

This way as long as you have the bookmarklet, you can send yourself
stuff on any device. You can publish the bookmarklet out on the Web
somewhere and as long as you remember where, you can get to it from
wherever.

The one thing that would be better would be some way to get the device
to do this right from the page (ie right-click or long-click on the
link you want to send) so you don't have to go into your bookmarks and
click the bookmarklet. But maybe that's unavoidable.

The ugliest part is then your email client needs to be smart enough to
automatically identify export these tiddler-emails to a folder on
your computer, and you can then just import them into your
TiddlyWiki. (I use Outlook at home (since I know VBA) so I'd have to
write a script to do that part. I'm not sure how hard it is to do for
other clients like Thunderbird.)

It would have to work for multiple browsers/devices like iOS, etc. I'm
pretty sure an inputbox or HTML form generated on the fly is doable,

Anyway, is all this something someone has done already or done
better?

Any info appreciated...thanks

[tw] saving checked html form checkboxes in a tiddler?

2011-08-23 Thread sanna
Hi, Dears -

So! I am happily using my various TiddlyWikis for various projects,
and am now wanting to replace my use of HabitForge with the use of my
mGSD TW + NudgeMail.

I made a tiddler in my mGSD that has 21 html checkboxes all in a row,
with the name of the tiddler corresponding with the name of the habit
I am trying to form. How I would like this all to work is that when I
get my NudgeMail self-sent message in my email inbox in the morning,
asking me if I did a good job working on my habit the previous day,
I'd like to be able to have included in that email the permalink to
that particular tiddler related to that habit, with it's 21
checkboxes, so I could click on the permalink, my mGSD would
automatically open to the right tiddler in a new browser window, and I
would then check one of the checkboxes, if I did do a good job on the
habit. If I hadn't done a good job the previous day on the habit, I
would simply then uncheck all of the previously checked checkboxes,
and start over (as HabitForge forces you to do, if you respond with a
'no').

The only problem is, when I check any of the checkboxes, and then
close the tiddler with those boxes checked, when I open the same
tiddler again, none of the boxes are checked anymore.

The checkboxes are not linked to any actual form, and I do not know
how to build real forms that email results or anything like that. I
just know how to include form elements in regular html.

Is there any way to make it so the tiddler will retain the information
of whether the checkbox was checked or not, between closing and re-
opening the tiddler?

Thanks for any help!

Yaay!

Susanna

[tw] Saving and opening several links at once?

2011-04-30 Thread Horst Lehmann
is there a plugin or hack or manual way to open several internet links or
external file links (pdf, etc...) so that i can open them by click on a
button/link in TW savin it? Probably solvable with javascript. In best case,
all open tabs in a FF window and their URL r copied and transferred to
current tiddler als clickable link.

Im long searching for note taking tool like this, as tagging ur bookmarks
with tools like delicious also gets a mess, saving small link sets with
topic/notes u tiddled seems more straightforward to me

[tw] Saving and Caching problem.

2011-04-04 Thread John Berryman
Scenario:
1) I create a tiddler and work on it for 40 minutes.
2) I save the tiddler to Tspot.
3) I close my TW.
4) I reopen the TW the next day to find my work missing even though
save was successful.
5) I recreate the tiddler again except this time I just put test text
this sux.
6) I iterate several times through steps 3-5 until I'm satisfied that
I completely don't understand what's happening.
7) I find that Tspot keeps backups of my TW, but I've already
overwritten every one I wanted with this sux
8) I search more and find that it was never a problem with Tspot, but
with client-side caching.

So... that was a frustrating little experiment. I know this has come
up before (here:
http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki/browse_thread/thread/c9dd7484f89d4ca0/3bba610ceb37fffb?lnk=gstq=save+cache#3bba610ceb37fffb).
Is there a resolution to this besides having to remember to shift
reload every time?

Thanks,

[tw] Saving TiddlyWiki on handheld

2010-12-11 Thread Yakov
Hi guys.

Recently I moved forward and continued efforts to make TiddlyWiki work
(save changes) on my handheld. The latter has WM 5.0 and no JVM or
whatever is needed for applets. As I've understood, TiddlerSaver is an
applet (is it?). I installed Jeode JVM and tried TW and Jeode's test
(named Quasar, I think it's a web-page with an applet, but I'm not
sure) - with Opera Mobile 10. However, opening the Quasar caused OM to
show sorry, your browser doesn't support Java.

I start wondering if it's possible to run and save TW on the
handheld.. What browsers do you guys use with TW for mobile? Is it
possible to make a midlet TiddlySaver (if this would help)?

Thanks in advance, Yakov.

Re: [tw] saving TW on a shared network drive

2010-05-24 Thread Anthony Muscio
SplishFish,

you can place tiddlywiki on a network drive for your 2 colleagues to access
and edit.

I would recommend using something like TiddlyLockPluggin at
http://www.minormania.com/tiddlylock/tiddlylock.html

Although familiar with many networking systems I (and perhaps many others)
don't know what you mean by Unblock button. I suggest you speak to your
network administrator and request a file share or network location where you
and your colleagues have read/write and create access.

If there is an additional setting to unblock they should be able to help
you.

The above plugin will lock the tiddlywiki to the person editing it.

If you have not found an easy way to do it with TiddlyWiki, you have missed
something.

[tw] saving TW on a shared network drive

2010-05-19 Thread SplishFish
I created a TW on a flash drive, now I want to place it on a network
drive for my 2 collegues to access and edit. I copied the TW HTML file
to the network share and the TW opens, but changes cannot be saved.
The file properties for the new copy of the TW does not show the
unblock button.

For an experiment, I downloaded a fresh empty.html TW from
http://www.tiddlywiki.com/ and saved it to the network share directly.
I clicked unblock in the properties for the fresh file, but the TW
still will not save.

Am I doing something wrong? Or could there be a security setting on
this network share that is preventing the TW from being saved?

I'm using IE 8 on Windows XP and I have access to the network share
I'm trying to save the TW to. The 2 people I want to share the TW with
have the same operating system, browser, and access to the server/
drive.

Any help is appreciated.

[tw] Saving Options in TWT-Treeview • Executive

2010-02-17 Thread GeoJono
Hello. I have downloaded the TWT-Treeview • Executive (http://twt-
treeview-executive.tiddlyspot.com/) to use for a type of knowledge
base, but I can't get the options to save. I have 3 other TWs that
work just fine, but when I change the options in the right sidebar of
TWT-Treeview • Executive and then refresh the page, the changes were
not saved. The changes are saved while it's open, but closing it and
bringing it back up wipes those changes away.

Specifically, I'd like to have the Save Backups and AutoSave options
checked. Again, I check them and all is fine until the page is
reloaded, then they're unchecked again.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Jono

[tw] Saving TW on a file server

2010-01-25 Thread zimtmaedchen
Hi everyone,

I realize this issue has been addressed several times before, but as
far as I can see it hasn't been completely resolved. (Also, the start
page to this group encourages me to just jump in... :-))

So here's my problem:
I would like to use a TW as a knowledge base for my team at the
office. Everything works fine as long as I work locally on my hard
drive. As soon as I copy the TW to the file server, it doesn't work
anymore (in IE 7, and no, unfortunately I'm not allowed to use a
different browser)

Solutions I have found around here and have tried (to no avail):
- Unblock the file in the file properties = no unblock button to be
found
- Edit the IE internet security options = this is only possible for a
company-wide admin, and besides, for the local Intranet zone (to which
a file server evidently belongs), the security level is set to low
already
- Using the Upload plugin = I cannot use any script language
whatsoever on the file server (except for jss of course).

Does anyone have any other ideas/pointers for me??
Thanks a lot!
- Irina.

[tw] Saving From Network Drive using IE Fails

2009-11-04 Thread Chad

I get the following message when I try to save the TiddlyWiki which
resides on a network drive. You need to save this TiddlyWiki to a
file before you can save changes.

Using Firefox works fine, however some computers on the network only
have IE installed.

I already right-clicked and made sure in the properties that the file
wasn't blocked.

Any ideas how to make the saving process work using IE? This would
greatly enable my ability to implement the use of TiddlyWiki among a
group of 4 people. We make only occassional changes to the file so
using this seems suitable.

Thanks.

[tw] Saving username, password and settings in Firefox 3.5

2009-07-17 Thread Billijay

Hello,

I am really not good at configuring anything techie, however I like
TiddlyWiki
and I am learning how to use it.
I started out with tiddlyspot and then downloaded the file to my
desktop so that I can work
online and offline.

One problem I have is saving my settings username, password and
options.
Every time I open Tiddly, either from the site (tiddlyspot) or my
desktop, I have to input my
settings.
Can some explain to me in step and easy to follow language how to save
my setting permanently.

Thanks.

[tw] Saving a tiddler with a new name while leaving the original tiddler

2009-07-17 Thread AlanBCohen

I'm still expanding my Project Organization TW file and adding
capabilities like tiddlers that list all of any employer's staff
assigned to the Project. I'm using ForEachTiddler macros and the they
are basically the same except for the 'where criteria'. Up to now,
I've been using cut/paste from an existing tiddler to create a new
one. So I was wondering, is there a 'save as' function that can be
added to the Edit template buttons that provides an easy create of a
new tiddler while leaving the original one unchanged?

[tw] Saving in Epiphany reloads page

2009-07-01 Thread Robert Mosher

When I save a TiddlyWiki (2.5.2) in Epiphany (2.26.1) either manually
or using autosave, it reloads the pages, resulting in all but the
default tiddlers being closed. Is there any solution to this?

[tw] Saving forms for other users

2009-06-23 Thread Andi

I'm creating a TiddlyWiki page thing and have put in some code that
creates form for people to fill in. The idea is that they can save the
information and then edit it when it goes out of date or is no longer
correct. I thought i had it, but when i clicked the save as button
with the information on the page it didn't save the information on the
form, only the basic TiddlyWiki that people are supposed to add to.

Any help with what to do will be much appreciated. Do i need a
plugin? :-S

[tw] Saving TW Cookies in Firefox

2009-05-01 Thread Mike

I'm running Firefox and have the options setup so it keeps cookies
until I close Firefox. And then under the exceptions box, I've added
tiddlyspot.com so those cookies don't get deleted when I close FF.

How do I get FF to not delete the cookies generated from my local copy
of TW? Is there an exception I can add?

From reading other posts, it seems like a good idea to make edits in a
local copy and then upload it to TiddlySpot.com (I don't get the
annoying nag of You need to save this TiddlyWiki to a file before you
can save changes every time I edit a tiddler online).

Personally, before I read that, I was just keeping my TW online and
editing it there. If I can avoid that nag, I think I'd rather still
do everything online...

Mike

[tw] Saving in firefox

2009-04-13 Thread Johndb

I have read a post on this topic before, and made a failed attempt to
resolve it. Whenever I try to save in firefox the computer tells me

A script from file:// is requesting enhanced abilities that are
UNSAFE and could be used to compromise your machine or data:

Run or install software on your machine

Allow these abilities only if you trust this source to be free of
viruses or malicious programs.

So I realise its an issue of security, privileges and I am aware of
the sites http://icanhaz.com/firefoxprivileges and
http://firefoxprivileges.tiddlyspot.com/
through a previous post I've seen. But after that I get lost and
ineffective. I want to use firefox but at least with internet explorer
you don't get this complicated problem. Can someone walk me through
what I need to do to get this fixed.

[tw] Saving tiddlywiki Mac

2009-01-12 Thread stefan_s

Hi

I use tiddlywiki on my MacBook with Safari since about a year now. It
used to work every day without major problems. From one day to the
other now it refuses to be saved. I did not change anything at all on
my Mac. No matter what I try, it won't be saved, I updated to the
newest tiddlysaver.jar, nothing helps.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Stefan

[tw] saving tiddlywiki in firefox

2008-12-26 Thread Rups

hi,
i'm trying to save tiddlywiki in firefox. the first time i tried to do
so, i got an error message saying that it's UNSAFE and all of that,
but i accidentally clicked deny instead of accept. i tried to save it
again but it's not working...i think that firefox has 'remembered'
this decision. how do i change this?
thanks so much.

[tw] Saving tiddlyspot file

2008-12-15 Thread mcastel

Hello,

I'm playing with tiddlyspot in order to manage a personal wiki online.
One apparently simple problem, that I cannot fully understand, is that
when I click on save changes for my wiki, it appears an alert box
requesting me to save TiddlyWiki to a file before any other action...
Which is the correct way to to this task (allright, it seems trivial,
but I'm still unsure...)?

Thanks,

Marco
