First post here - Just bought a Wandboard dual and would like to try running the CSOS image on it - however I get 'Forbidden' when I try to access the image file from the link on the http://www.communitysqueeze.org/ page. I'm familiar with the process to load a SD card - I have a few Rpi's two of which run squeezeplay, and I'd like to try using a Wandboard instead. Async usb on a full speed bus (usb 1/1.1 uac 1) requires two iso connections one outbound for the audio and an inbound one for the feedback path - it turns out that the TT function in the ARC ehci block on most arm socs can't handle this [must be a simplifying cost saving that was made in the logic block]. Adding a hub gets an external TT which fixes it. Without a hub audio is heard, but the feedback doesn't work and so you get occasional dropouts at a rate dependant on what frequency extreme the dac supports. While we are doing DACs, the HRT Music Streamer II works very well with wandboard and CSOS. It is a UAC1 asynch interface so it does require a hub. The max rate is 96KHz. John S. I am promoting the F19 ALPHA 1 image to F19 RELEASE 1. The only change
from the ALPHA image is an edit to /etc/csos-release, ALPHA -
RELEASE, so no need for anyone who has installed A1 to download R1.

Thanks JackofAll for taking the time to respond I didn't have anything in the alsa params field but I did eventually get the OPPO's USB DAC to work. I appear to have a rouge/ghost squeezeliteWAND, ie two devices with the same name that show up in the choose device list and it also appears in my LMS dropdown for a short time after rebooting the Wandboard. I haven't figured out why, but if I do choose the wrong one I seem unable to select the OPPO's USB as the output device. Its strange because after a couple of minutes the ghost device disappears. I have 6 other SB devices and I've never seen this behavior before. So you can scratch my previous comment, Wandboard - OPPO 105 USB DAC works. Worth checking-out on Spotify (or other online music service) if you have access to it. He is a big fan of Over the Rhine, so I figured it wasn't too big a leap, even though I know he isn't too keen on anything with even a tinge of country. I spoke to him a week later and asked him if he had listened to the album. He had forgotten the name of the group, and said, Yeah, sure, I listened to that album by 'Once More With Feeling', but didn't like it. LOL. I didn't get it straight away.. Received my Wandboard Quad a few days ago. I can report that it does not currently work with the USB DAC on the OPPO 105 The OPPO appears as OPPO USB Audio Device in the 'Audio Output Device' menu but the next screen won't allow me to activate it. I did some quick experimentation a while back and liked mI:::28. The 352.8 is important, because at that frequency (and 384) the DAC chip turns off it's own internal interpolation filter assuming you have already applied one in the data you are feeding it. This is what I am after. Until recently I could only go up to 176.4 that was the highest rate I could get off of any of my USB DACs. I finally got a home built XMOS interface up and running at 384 so I could feed the DAC 352.8. And low and behold, it was a major change over 176.4. It's hard to describe what it sounds like because it is the absence of a bunch of things. It's the cleanest, smoothest, most detailed, most involving sound I have ever heard out of digital audio. It seems that all glare, graininess, edginess, etc etc has just vanished and the music is just there. It's nice to know that my selection criteria seems to have worked and produced something pretty special. John S. I probably need another day, (maybe 2), to re-base the kernel rpm build, rc3 - rc4. I'll give you a heads-up before releasing the 3.11 kernel rpm. The mytek module will be a standalone akmod package so it will need installing, rather than be included with the kernel package. NB. The hiface module (which was the other out-of-tree module that I was including with the 3.0.35 builds) is now included in mainline, so the mytek module will be the only kmod package for the moment. Additional results for the wandboard QUAD under F19-A1 20130727. Works with both optical and USB out to an Audio GD NFB-2 DAC. Works with USB out to AktiMate Micro powered speakers. Runs the Logitech media server to drive 3 different squeezeboxes at the same time, in addition to squeezelite/jivelite. Impressive stuff guys. So I ran the optical out from the SWAMP board into my AVR and it works. (Boy have I gotten spoiled by the upsampling to 352 into the DAC I'll be using fro CSP, the AVR sounded terrible in comparison) So it works into the AVR, but not the EMU_0404USB. The optical out from the Touch works fine on both. So it has got to be something in the channel status bits that is different between the two. In the next couple days I'll be working on the FPGA SPDIF receiver, I'll grab the bits from both and post them. John S. The SWAMP board has a correct optical connection, but I have not been able to get sound out of it. The receiver locks onto the stream, gets the sample rate correctly but no sound. I had forgotten about SCMS. I'll try it into a different receiver and see if it plays on that. John S. More results for testing the Wandboard QUAD optical out with different DACs on F19-A1: Works with the digital input on the Transporter (via the analog outputs - doesn't seem to pass through digital to the other digital outputs). Works with the optical input on a Metrum NOS Mini DAC. Doesn't work on a Minimax DAC (but the signal LED lights up) Doesn't work on a Schitt Bifrost DAC (but it does auto-select the optical input) Doesn't work on an NAD M2 (but the Unlocked signal disappears) Hope this helps. OK, I took a look and the channel status bits look good except for the emphasis, it is including IEC958_AES0_CON_EMPHASIS_5015, I would think that should be IEC958_AES0_CON_EMPHASIS_NONE. I'm not sure what a receiver is going to do when when it receives a stream that says it has emphasis. Many DACs don't include a de-emphasis capability so either ignore the bit or maybe don't play it if they can't handle it properly? For the rare DAC that does include de-emphasis it is going to apply it to everything sent which is not good! John S. Running the latest R7 image on a new Wandboard Quad, I can't get the SPDIF output working into a NAD M2 digital amp. The Unlocked message on the optical input goes out - so it looks as though it should be working - but there is no sound. The optical output does work if I connect it via a Minimax DAC. The analog line out on the Wandboard works OK. I've tried two Quads and have the same issue on both. I'm off to get another couple of MicroSD cards so I test on a Wandboard dual. Any ideas on why the M2 isn't picking up the optical output from the Wandboard? Regards, Steve. Been a very busy week for me, so only just getting back to the conversation about the F19 release.. Guys, take your points on board. Here's the thing, I think we are going to have to stick with the 3.0.35 kernel as being our default F19 kernel for the moment. I'm not even prepared to release the 3.11 kernel as a beta at the moment. Not to paint it in too bad of a light, but for me, beta means reasonably stable and to be frank, 3.11. Too many unexplained lock-ups. Another issue I'm aware of where USB audio device stops working and the whole USB sub-system stops working until the device is rebooted. Wi-fi is there now, but there is the cold boot issue. (I haven't updated in a couple of days, so that might be resolved now, there was talk about being able to reset it via a GPIO from the device tree file. If that's the case, great.) Lack of SPDIF driver. No video (HDMI) support for the moment.. The biggest issue for me is the lock-up, stability issue. I've never had an issue with the 3.0.35 kernel. My gut feeling is that you could run it for years without rebooting and not have an issue. Now, I suspect that when 3.11 spends a little time out of RC status and gets used by the general public, issues will be resolved fairly quickly. But for the moment, the F19 release needs to stick with the 3.0.35 kernel and I think realistically, we may be looking at a F20 release before being able to have a mainline kernel as the default. So back to the question, and assuming the F19 release stays as-is with 3.0.35 as the default kernel, where do we go with it? It always seems like I am advertising but this might help someone else I switched to a new development machine. Doesn't have a serial port for the WB serial console. So I started looking at USB-RS232 adapters. A friend cautioned me away from the really cheap adapters as he has had issues and pointed me at a £15 part. I ignored him and spent £2.30 (delivered) on this 'USB to RS232 - USB Converter Cable' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00077DJIQ/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00). (Figured, for the sake of £2.30, if it didn't work I'd buy the more expensive one that was recommended.) Im thinking to go back to something what I had in the past where I extracted the real MAC addresses from ifconfig. Im still thinking about how exactly to do it but I need to do some more testing. It may not have been the most elegant way of doing it but at least that worked fine in every case. Im able to extract both the Ethernets and WiFis real MAC addresses there. I just configured the wifi card on the Wandboard and that works fine too. However, TriggerOutput does not work at all when the Wandboard is connected through wifi. Even deleting DesktopJive.lua does not solve the issue. I noticed that the MAC address inside DesktopJive.lua is now 00:00:00:00:00:00. I guess Jivelite is trying to figure out the MAC address before the wifi card has a network connection, hence the blank MAC address. Aside from running alsamixer without a card index and it trying to configure default pulse device and pulseaudio server not running.. Is anyone aware of any issue with the F19 ALPHA that isn't there with the last F18 release image? I'm thinking that we need to get a few more people running it, and that there is no need for me to tag it with negative, (watch out, this is untested and might explode, only put on a spare sdcard), warning messages. Installed Alpha 1 this morning on my Quad WB and all seems to be working well so far. Pascal, This is probably going to get me a clip round the ear from Triode, but the more I think about this, using of MAC address to identify players, is ahem, brain-dead, when a single hardware device has multiple interfaces and could have multiple clients. Is it not possible to identify by player name? So you set the player name via the squeezelite config. Then in the Trigger applet you add a config screen to set the player name you want the notifications for.. If I were Pascal now, who's already got the applet setup screen to enable the applet, for minimal effort, adding the ability to set the player MAC address to watch there would make sense. Whether he uses a real address or a made up one, he already has the ability either via the web interface (or by editing the config file directly), to set the MAC for the squeezelite client instance job done. No waiting for network interfaces.
