where to find notification of mail sent by iPhoto

2012-02-23 Thread Bill Cole
Hi all,
I sent some photos by email from within Iphoto 11, they were sent
from Iphoto, and were received by my daughter, but there is no indication in my
mail sent folder that they were actually sent , is this normal, as far as I
can see I don't have a record of when I sent them, or , is the record stored
somewhere else ?
Thanks for any info to this.

To view your photo email messages:
To view email you send from iPhoto, you need to send yourself each email
 message.
iPhoto can automatically send you a “blind” carbon copy (blind means that
your recipients won’t see that you are a recipient too).

Choose iPhoto Preferences, and then click Advanced.

 Select “Automatically Bcc myself.”

*You can also see whether or when you emailed a photo*.
Select the photo, click the Info button in the toolbar, and look in the
Sharing section to see to whom and when the photo was sent.

Click the entry in the Sharing section to open an email you’ve sent, so you
can view, edit, or resend it. (If you don’t see a Sharing section, you
 haven’t shared the photo.)

Re: Launchpad and System Preferences

2011-11-25 Thread Bill Cole
Hi Severin,
not the perfect solution, but you can Command/ click and
arrange the icons in Launchpad how you want them arranged, ie the ones you use
a lot can be on the first page of Launchpad, or, alternatively just drag drop
them into the Dock

only running applications whether hidden or not show on the dock. System
Preferences is an anomaly. Though set as a startup item it starts and then
vanishes whether set as hidden or not.
Has anyone any comment on this?
I am not convinced that Launchpad has any advantages over my earlier setup

Today we’re back with a pair of huge updates—1Password 3.7 beta and version
3.6 beta 35 of our extension—sporting some great features you’ve been asking
 for:

   • Universal Unlock: Now when you unlock the 1Password app, the new
 Safari extension will follow suit
   • Copy to Clipboard from the extension: Opening the 1Password app just
to copy a password for a Flash site? Old ‘n busted. In the new extension you
can now find a Login, click the right arrow (or hit your right arrow key) to
view its details, and click the new “Copy” button next to your password for
 easier pasting
   • Go Fill/All Logins typing focus works again: After using
Command-Option-\ to invoke Go Fill, keyboard focus will be placed in the
search field to keep you going and filling as quickly as possible
   • Much-improved AutoSubmit: Go to System Preferences Universal Access
Enable Access for Assistive Devices, and 1Password will perform much better
 at automatically logging you in
   • Auto-Lock settings now respected: Our new extension will once again
obey your preferences under 1Password Preferences Security for
 automatically locking your data file
   • Lock 1Password from the command line: For the power users in the
audience, you can now lock 1Password from the command line with: “open
 x-onepassword-agent://lock”
If you need help upgrading either 1Password or the new extension, see this
 document.

If you’ve never participated in our beta, please check out this document for
how to do so an explanation of what it’s all about.

If you try both the 1Password and extension betas, please follow a couple of
short steps once the update processes finish:

   • Go to System Preferences Universal Access, and click Enable Access
For Assistive Devices at the bottom of the window
   • Go to 1Password Troubleshooting Restart Agent
   • Restart safari with CMD-Option-Q

will open. I thought it was just me having a problem, makes me feel much
better, sorry about that !!, I don't know if the problem lies with 1 Password
or Apple, I'm just hoping that one or the other will sort it out, I guess all
users are the same . It doesn't help but at least we know we are in the same
boat !!

Peter, I'm not quite sure where the little arrow to the right of the link is
could you help me there. I have cba in the Bookmarks Bar of Safari, when I
click on that it used to open, fill in the details req'd, and open it, now when
I click on cba
or any other ones, it opens the page, but does not fill in the details, I have
to tap the 1P button which in turn brings up the small 1Password vault, I
put my password in, it then displays login for this site I then double click
on the site , it fills in the details and opens it up. somewhat tedious, I
think,
Thanks for any help

a computer or the AC power supply, which is also provided. There is also a
special brush/wiper for cleaning the optics inside the device.

The scanner is one of the niftiest gadgets I've seen for a long time. A

Another way you could have done this project is using the Envelopes
 function Print.

NOTE:If you want to print envelopes, first make sure your printer is
configured to print them and then place envelopes in the printer.

 1. Select all the Contacts you want to print Envelopes for. I have a
Group Family, so I select the first contact in Family, then Edit
 Select All.

 2. File Print

 3. In the Print Window that appears, select Style: Envelopes

Envelopes: Click Layout and choose the type of envelope you’re using. If
you’re using a special envelope, choose Define Custom and specify the
 envelope dimensions.

Click Label and then specify whether to include your return address and
which address to use for it. Choose the type of address to print for each

You can, however, configure it to print envelopes with an addressee and

You can create a label in a word processor then replicate it on a label

 Hi Bill,

If you use Address Book v5.0.1 (which you would have in 10.6.2) you can
 print Mailing Labels

 1. Select all the Contacts you want to print Mailing Labels for. I have
a Group Family, so I select the first contact in Family, then Edit
 Select All.

 2. File Print

 3. In the Print Window that appears, select Mailing Labels
Layout - you have Avery Standard, Avery A4, DYMO (I have a Dymo
LabelWriter 320 so I select Dymo)

Works great using my Dymo so I'm sure it would work well with Avery Papers.

Re: Label addresses app.

2009-11-19 Thread Bill Cole

Hi all, ( Ronda )
it worked like a dream, all my selected multi
addresses folders printed out great, Except that yesterday evening I spent all
evening trying to print my return address , I could only get it to print 1
(one) Avery L7651 on the sheet of labels, which it did perfectly, when what I
wanted was to be able to print say 20 or 30 of the return labels. I know I
must be missing something, I even created a new folder with just my return
address in , but it still only printed the one label. I just don't see where it
says anything about multiple print-outs of single addresses . Hope that makes
sense !
Printer is HP photosmart C6270 all in one. (
can't see it being a problem with the printer. it printed all the others great).

Grateful for any help you can give me
 Bill

Re: Strange beeps

2009-01-03 Thread Bill Cole

Hi Severin,
could this be your email advising you that you have a new one
delivered ( could account for it being intermittent as it only occures
when mail is delivered, ) if so it can be altered in your mail
preferences , hope it is this simple !

Hi Severin,

Normal culprits are mouse initiated actions. Preferences: Sound

Hi Rob,
this happens when you update an application and haven't deleted the

Dock where it will place an alias of it, I think you will find that
this will rectify the problem

Dear Bill and WAMUGgers

Not pretty but it's advice that has worked for me, from the techie
of a 1:1 laptop for kids program (MacBooks).

If the computer goes through the actions of attempting to eject,
then reloading the disk again, it is possible that the case is bent
at the CD slot. Use a flat screwdriver to gently (and later in my
experience more strongly) prise open the slot and restart while
holding down the mouse/trackpad. It took me about 10 attempts with
one of my trusty Year 7 helpers to extract the recalcitrant disk.
We discussed using tweezers too as the disk came to the edge of the
slot then went back in again. When finally my nimble-fingered 12
year old got hold of the disk and dragged it out, we found some
paper stuffed in there with it.

This may not be your problem with your G5 (iMac) but it's worth a try.

Have fun

Reg

Hi Bill,

I think it is possible for a slot load drive to end up half way open,
half way closed. I think this happened to me once, and I used a

to nudge a plastic lever that prompted the drive complete either its
insert action or its eject action (at which point it figured out
there

was no disc). I'm not sure if that is good advice for your situation!

There is another odd situation that can arise. If you have inserted a
blank disc while iTunes is open, but then not burnt a disc with
iTunes, then the rest of the computer loses track of the drive. The
solution (other than rebooting) is to open iTunes and press the Eject
button within iTunes itself.

James.

into the side slot, There is no indication on the desk top that one
is inserted, ( I am not absolutley convinced that there is a disk in
there! ) but I guess there must be one in ! )

I have done all the suggestions as in Mac Help which include
1.Pressing the eject on the key board, 2. Restarting with the mouse
button held down, 3. Pressing the eject button in Itunes. 4. Disk
utility to select disk before pressing eject, but there is no disk
shown to eject ? . 5. can't find an emergency eject hole to try
this

and now somehow an eject icon ( like the one on the Top right
keyboard button) has appeared in the Menu Bar which when you press
it it scrolls down saying Close Superdrive , thankfully nothing
happens when I press it, as I haven't a clue what would happen if it
did close it down,

I have exhausted my meagre knowledge on trying to
rectifying these,

I'd be grateful for any help ( not too technical ) as to 1.
rectifying the CD problem 2. getting rid of the Menu bar icon

Bigpond closing Firewall/anti-spam/anti-virus etc for Macs

2007-10-18 Thread Bill Cole

Hi !
I received email from bigpond advising that that they are upgrading
their bigpond security Products, but enquiring into this ,as below,
it appears that they have made no provision for us Mac users as from
31 March 2008. any Mac users with Bigpond ought to make their
feelings felt by notifying them that they are NOT HAPPY

below is what transpired between myself and them for
your information

Their email to me ( shortened )
To help us stay on top of an ever-evolving array of internet threats,
we're upgrading our range of BigPond security products.

As a result of these upgrades, your current BigPond Personal Firewall
and/or BigPond Anti-Virus protection subscription(s) will no longer
be available from 31 March 2008.

Instead, they'll be replaced by a single integrated security package
called the BigPond Security Solution, which you'll be able to
subscribe to monthly or annually.

My question
at the moment I have your virus/anti spam protection, as from 31
March 2008 it appears I will have no protection,
what arrangements will you have in place for Mac users, are you
making any arrangements for Mac users, or will I be left to my own
devices after being a Bigpond user for lord knows how long !

Their email to me (shortened)
Thank you for your email, my name is !!! and I appreciate you
taking the time to contact us. I understand that you are querying the
security services for your BigPond account.

I am more than happy to assist you with this. However, In order for
me to be able to provide you with the information that you require,
can you please supply me with the following details so that I can
validate your identity:

- Full name.
- Street address on your BigPond® account including state and postcode.
- Date of birth.
- Full telephone number including area code.

details sent by me ( I only asked a question-why the above req'd I
don't know)

Their email to me(shortened)
I have looked into this furgher for you, and can confirm that the
Internet Security Pack does not run on Apple Mac. I apologie for any
incovnenience caused as regrettably we do not have a security pack
that does support Apple Mac

My question
Are there any provisions in the near future to support apple macs, or
indeed will the security pack be made available to apple users at
all, and if not WHY not.

Thank you

This is certainly a possibility, and i have sent this feedback
through to our products team for their consideration. I understand
that this may be inconvenient and i apologise for this.

Thank you for choosing BigPond.

Well there you have it, if you feel agreived why not send them a
email, shouldn't we all br treat the same

Sorry its long

Rule No 2, ditto [EMAIL PROTECTED]

can I just delete these, I have sent email to both of them to try to

If it's just a matter of deleting them, then how did they get there.?

is another story !

Did you set this up yourself , or did somebody set up your Mac for

I am thinking somebody may have been demonstrating how a rule could
be set up !

Sometimes you may find that on installing Mail , Apple places a
rule there during the installation process

so that their messages are received in your Pop mail box ,
but there would be no other rule that I have seen that has not been

Tom,

I'm using an Epson Stylus Photo R230 which I bought primarily for
printing directly onto CDs. I think it does a pretty reasonable
job: the colours are bright enough and the sharpness is almost
equivalent to printing on plain paper. It will partly depend on the
surface quality of your CDs - not all brands are the same. The
printer does a good job of photos on appropriate paper also.

The enclosed Epson software was usable but not intuitive and had a
few deficiencies. I purchased Disc Cover and it has been great for
all CD and DVD related labels, not just the discs.

I think the Epson was about $180 at Austin Computers but that was a
few months ago.

Cheers,

Mike

equivalent to printing on plain paper. It will partly depend on
the surface quality of your CDs - not all brands are the same.
The printer does a good job of photos on appropriate paper also.

The enclosed Epson software was usable but not intuitive and had
a few deficiencies. I purchased Disc Cover and it has been great
for all CD and DVD related labels, not just the discs.

I think the Epson was about $180 at Austin Computers but that was
a few months ago.

Cheers,

Mike

I have seen some yellow/gold ones that you can apparently stick
upside down in your drive and through using the provided software
laser etch your images onto the surface. Never seen them in action

My mates at the ABC recommended the printable cds for archival use.
Their investigations showed that it seems to be the only labeling
method that will not eventually rot/eat through to the recording
surface. Not sure if they tried the laser etching.

Not that anyone replied, but I found out what the problem is - the

Turn it off, and works fine. I'm sure an upgrade to iPhoto 5 will

iPhoto dosn't like you fiddling around in the iPhoto folder in the
pictures folder.
Make a duplicate of the iPhoto folder in the pictures folder and store
it some place else.
Trash the iPhoto folder, not the duplicate
trash the iPhoto preferences
  home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist
also delete iPhoto cache found in home/Library/caches/iPhoto cache
start iPhoto and reimport your photos from the duplicate iPhoto
folder.

this should work
in future, export/copy/print/mail photos only from within the iPhoto
application.

take your cursor onto the iTunes in the dock, drag it out of the dock

a funny thing happened !

2005-05-18 Thread bill cole
Hi, running 10.4, G5, 1.8., had 10.4 open, working on some of the
widgets that come with 10.4( don't know which particular one at the
time ) all of a sudden a number of applications in the Dock was
replaced by ? ( a question mark ) ie, mail 2.0, Sherlock 3.6.1,
iphoto 4.0.3, Balance pro 5.6, Grab 1.3, Epson c65 printer.
To get them back again I had to drag them out of the dock and replace
them by dragging them from the original application. except the Epson
printer which did not show up in Spotlight when I did a search for
it, I had to re-install from the original Epson install disk, all now
working ok.
I did noticed that when the ? marks appeared Meteorologist 1.4.3 was
updating in the menu bar, I don't know for sure but I am putting the
problem down to this possibly conflicting with what I was doing.
I'd be interested if anyone has had a similar thing happen, and was
Meteorologist the culprit ( I've since stopped using it until this
can be clarified.)

Thanks

Re: Lookup Postcode

2005-04-09 Thread bill cole

G'day Tony

I didn't use the link Ronda indicated, what I did was type Lookup
Postcodes a2e4 into Google, when it opened you get a page full of
options, click on the top one, Neologica software downloads then
press on Lookup Postcode installer there's even a picture to show
you what to do. and hey presto thats it. you may have to restart, but I
didn't.
hope this gets you working, other than that its how they say your on
your own only kidding.

Dear Bill
Thanks for your interest

The home section of address book does not show the plug in to be loaded

The issue for me is what did I download, where did it go, etc

The web page , from memory, showed a dozen or more download options,
which one did you choose

Sorry for this infantile monologue, but nothing seems as easy as you
guys say

Hi Bill, Tony WAMUGers,

Bill is correct in everything he has said.
I installed it from the Installer it asked if I wanted it
installed in Address Book Entourage.

I installed it in Address Book (I don't have Entourage).

It doesn't install in the Scripts Folder ... it installs in - HD
LIBRARY ADDRESS BOOK PLUG-INS

Then when you Open Address Book and click hold on 'Home' (where
you have the address),
in a person's card it shows 'Lookup Postcode' as well as other
Scripts such a WhereIs, WhereIs Directions, MultiMap etc.

Tony does not mention what OSX or version of Address Book he is
using.

As to why Bill can only have 'State' in lower case, I really have no
idea ??
Other than checking my Preferences, I have in 'General' Address
Format - Australia Font - Regular.

My State is in upper case (WA).

It does say that its only been tested on 10.3.7/10.3.8 Address

I've downloaded the sitx file twice now... but each time, it

Just let it sit. Eventually it will complete - it may take a few minutes

Exactly what happened to me, 10/15 secs Hey Presto, and it works.

Lost photo's in Iphoto's

2002-11-04 Thread Bill Cole
Hi, on 2/11/02 I posted regarding having lost my photo's in iphoto's,
I'd like to thank Shay Telfer Glauert Familia, in particular Glauert
who gave a step by step account of what I should do, being on the wrong
side of 66 any technical stuff would probably have been wasted on me,
this goes to show what a great group this is where the Guru's have time
and patience for us oldies
Thank you very much

iphoto help - lost photos

2002-11-02 Thread Bill Cole
G'day, ( first attempt at posting, sorry for any protocol breaches)
running G4./ 800 mhz./ os 10.1.5./ 768 mb ram/ iphoto 1.1.1.

had 450 photos in the library and placed in seperate albums with the
albums showing on the left of panel, used to click on Photo Library and
all photos showed in thumb nail, alt click on one of the albums and
showd those particular photos, now when iphotos launch there are no
photos in any of the albums including Photo Library, info at the bottom
of the panel states there are 450 photos in there ! When I go into
Home/Pictures/Iphoto Library I can find the pictures there some say
img-jpg some jpg, if I try to drag them into Photo library I get a
window stating unreadable files, couldn't be imported( may be
unrecognizeable file type or files not contain valid data
can anyone please assist in how I can get my photos back, or are they
gone for ever, hopefully not.

thanks for any assistance anyone can give.

Bill
