I've a dropbox which I am sharing with 3 of my pc's. there are some
folders which I don't wanna share among all 3 of them. Is there a way
to choose what folders gets share with what computer?

The exact wording is copy public link; when you enter that it copies the
actual link to the clipboard, then you can paste it wherever you'd like to
share it. It's not so necessary to zip the files

Drop Box is not optimized exclusively for speed! It does use some
tricks to speed up updates to files to make it more efficient. It is
designed to replicate it's contents in the background. It's Public
folder is just a great bonus. It is specifically designed not to impact
your normal use.
