I installed one on a '61 Buick Invicta, and the distributor did need
to be removed. You have to install the unit and then shim it to an
optimal distance. Make sure you get a full 12v to it so that you get

I should have elaborated on this. If your tank has one or more vent
tubes coming off of it, then it's the ECC version. My '69 has one
vent line and was the ECC version.

going to the floor and no sign of brake fluid on the ground (and a
mostly full MC) It pretty much has to be the master cylinder. I had

You can remove each fuse and put the test light in series with the circuit (connect each side of the test light to each side of the fuse connection. You might have to make a spade adapter for the clip side of the light, but that should help you find the circuit in question.

problem a bit quicker, remove the bulkhead connector at the firewall and do the 'test light load test' again and if there is no light, then you know that the problem is somewhere on the backside of the firewall.

Double check the wiring on the ignition solenoid, if it is stuck or mis-wired, it can energize the starter when ignition power is applied.
