In a stateful config, this is done by the standby PIX. It sends hello
packets and runs the interface tests to the active pix and when it doesn't
recieves any response it takes the role of the active pix.
TCP and UDP connections will be maintained but not the IPSec and ICMP.

I don't think it's an ARPing problem.
Try using the extended PING command to make sure you ping from the correct
interface.
Also, you can try checking the ARP entry for the 3COM router on the Cisco
router to see if there are any changes before and after the PING
conn

If I remember correctly, 172.16.2.0/24 showed up in peter's route table.
Unfortunately, I've wiped out this lab and rewired my rack to do other
labs.
I'll keep you posted when I revisit this scenario sometime this weekend

Pix 515 uses the same power supply that Cisco 2500s and Cisco 2600s routers
use. As a matter of fact, Pix 515 uses the same chasis as Cisco 2600s
routers.

These commands basicly enable TACACS+ server for Authentication purpose. For
example you need the first command to enable TACACS+ on your router, second
command say that the default auhtentication is TACACS server and the third
one says if no TACACS you can login using username and password

summary-address rip 172.16.10.0 255.255.255.0" in john's s0.1, but it
does not work. I remember Karl did that in a lab redistributing EIGRP to
RIP, so I thought it might be the same thing.

We've had nothing but bad luck with the 3C905C NICs. We've purchased a

Hmmm, why does groupstudy mangle my address. All the other lists I am on
handle this correctly.
It goes out correctly formatted (and rfc compliant) but the groupstudy
mailer software insists on interpretting the stuff inside the quotes.
